Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The episode began with a nighttime visit to the Westward Ho Motel. What did we later find out about this location?

Answer: It was the headquarters for a rival drug gang.

We saw a car drive up to the derelict motel, and a man headed inside with a gym bag. He handed over a white brick of product, possibly the Salamanca product which was supposed to have been stolen during the alleged attack on Arturo and Nacho. When the man returned to his car, we saw Victor was the driver, so this operation was apparently staged by Gus. We later found out from Nacho's recap to Gus that this was the headquarters of the Espinoza gang.
2. Jimmy was awakened by a call from someone offering him a job which he initially turned down. He later called back and accepted the offer after telling Kim that he had a job. What job was it?

Answer: Mobile phone salesman

While Kim was in the shower, Robbie Finn from CC Mobile called to offer Jimmy the shift supervisor position at their uptown branch. Jimmy turned it down, stating that his plans had changed, but he later told Kim that he was starting a job that day: "You're looking at Albuquerque's newest mobile communications specialist. I'm a shift supervisor even - be very impressed". Kim appeared to be very happy for him.

After Kim left, he quickly called Finn back and said, "I just can't pass up this opportunity if the position is still open".
3. As Kim was getting ready to leave for the day, she stopped by the bathroom where Jimmy was shaving and handed him a sticky note. What was on the note?

Answer: A phone number for a therapist

After telling Jimmy that she'd be home by seven, Kim continued to stand in the doorway, and when Jimmy asked her what was up, she said that, "I was thinking that maybe you should talk to someone". When Jimmy asked if it was a shrink, she told him that, "it works for a lot of people". Jimmy thanked her, stuck the note on the mirror and said that he'd have to check his schedule.

He then told Kim about his new job. She told him that it was great news but asked him to "give him a call when you get a chance".

He said that he would but the look on his face after she left wasn't convincing.
4. Kim left for the day, but she didn't go to work at Mesa Verde. Where did Kim spend her day?

Answer: Observing minor court cases

When Kim got to the courthouse, she checked the docket and passed on the settlement and corporate bankruptcy cases. Instead she went to Judge Munsinger's courtroom to listen to the criminal trespassing and aggravated stalking cases. When the judge spotted her in the gallery, he asked her if she had "a matter before the court today", to which she replied, "no, your honor, just observing".

When she met the judge in his office during the lunch break, she explained that she wasn't working for HHM anymore but that she was the outside counsel for Mesa Verde.

The judge then said that he had a case that might interest her. He described it in detail until Kim pointed out, "This is the plot of 'The Verdict'". The judge replied: "Yes! Of course it is! Because movies are the only place where those once in a lifetime cases exist....

This is the real world Ms. Wexler, and you won't find any 'save the broken lawyer' cases in it. Don't think that you are the first to try to rediscover their love of the law by trolling my court".

He told her that the next time he saw her "lurking" in his court, he'd put her to work as a public defender. But after he returned to his bench, he saw that she was once again sitting in the gallery.
5. Fellow therapy group member Anita (Tamara Tunie) met Mike at the diner for lunch and they ended up making a bet. What did the bet involve?

Answer: Another therapy group member

Based on the fact that the waitress Fran knew what Anita's "usual" was, it appeared that Mike and Anita had been meeting there for a while. While talking with Mike, Anita mentioned "reaching out to Henry" because she thought he could use a friend. Mike told her that Henry, who was fellow member of the therapy group, was fine: "Because that dead wife he's always talking about never existed". Anita looked shocked, but Mike explained that it was an act by Henry: "That guy's story changes every time he tells it. Watch him.

He's got a tell. Like a bad poker player, when he's lying, he rubs his wrist". Anita then told Mike "to put his money where his mouth is". They bet $10 that "when [Henry] talks about Judy - different story".
6. Jimmy started his new job, but things were a bit slow. What did he do to pass the time?

Answer: Bounced a ball against the window

Jimmy dusted and vacuumed and wandered outside a few times looking for customers. When he finally got a phone call, it was Robbie, the man who hired him, just checking to see how his morning was going. Jimmy said that it was slow, to which Robbie replied that the store didn't get much traffic: "Just bring a book". Jimmy asked to be moved to a busier store, but Robbie said to give it a few weeks. Jimmy then picked up a stress ball and forcefully began bouncing it against the window, somewhat like Steve McQueen in the cooler in "The Great Escape". Admit it: you were expecting the window to break!
7. Who was shot during the shoot-out at the Westward Ho Motel?

Answer: One of the Cousins

Nacho and the Cousins visited the Westward Ho Motel during the day, and Nacho identified a silver Camaro there as the car used in the attack on Arturo and him. He'd previously said the car was a Firebird but close enough; he said it was the same car because he remembered the "smoked windows". Nacho then said that the hotel looked "like a fortress. We're gonna need numbers".

He said he'd return that night with Domingo, Javier and their crews, but the Cousins just looked at each other; they had a better idea.

They simultaneously got out of the vehicle, grabbed their gun bags and walked towards the compound. Nacho watched from the car as one of the Cousins stabbed the guards and the two then headed into the motel compound, guns out, and the shooting began.

When he saw another vehicle pull up, Nacho decided to try to help the Cousins. He shot the man who was blocking the exit and then headed into the compound, but the wound in his abdomen was bleeding, and he was struggling to stand up. Then one of the Cousins, who had an apparent wound in his shoulder, appeared behind Nacho and shot the remaining rival cartel members.

He looked at Nacho and briefly nodded, apparently recognizing Nacho's effort. Later Nacho reported to Gus that they "cleared out the Espinozas. They're all done". When Gus asked about the Cousins, Nacho said: "Marco took a hit but he'll pull through. They've went back south until the heat dies down".
8. When Stacey was talking about her day at the group therapy session, what did she say about Matty that clearly upset Mike?

Answer: She hadn't thought about him that morning.

Stacey described her day, including making French toast for breakfast. She said that when she got to work, she realized that she hadn't thought about Matty all morning, "not once", even while she was making his favorite breakfast. Mike had somewhat of a smile on his face as she described Kaylee's "self-pasting toothbrush" science project, but he grimaced when she mentioned not thinking about Matty, and the more she talked about it, the more it appeared to disturb him.

When she asked if it was possible that she could go a whole week without thinking about him or forget him completely, Mike was breathing heavily with his mouth firmly closed.

He had a look of pain on his face. According to Executive Producer Melissa Bernstein, hearing that "Stacey didn't think about Matty for a day shakes [Mike] to his core", and actor Jonathan Banks added, "Mike didn't hear 'I didn't think about him for a few moments', Mike just hears, 'I didn't think about him'".

After the revelation, Mike took out his anger on Henry - calling him out for the stories about his fake wife.

After Henry ran out, Mike then lashed out at the other group members: "All wrapped up in your sad little stories, and feeding off each other's misery."
9. While Mike was doing his security consultant gig at Madrigal, he got a call telling him to meet with Gus: "He wants to see you. Tonight". Why was Gus angry with Mike?

Answer: Mike didn't tell him that Nacho was trying to kill Hector.

Gus told Mike that "in order for our arrangement to continue, there is a matter we need to discuss". Mike responded with a drawn-out "Ok", and when Gus asked him, "Do you have something to tell me?", Mike realized that he was talking about Nacho. Gus was angry because Mike had asked for a favor with laundering the money: "You shook my hand and all the while you knew Varga was moving against my interests". Mike pointed out that he had agreed not to kill Hector, but he wasn't Hector's bodyguard. He wasn't in the mood for the games and told Gus, "Why don't you stop running a game on me and just tell me about the job".
10. Jimmy took a break from his job to meet up with Ira, his Hummel-swiping buddy, to get his share of the proceeds. A chance remark from Ira gave Jimmy a marketing idea for his new job. What did Jimmy paint the windows to advertise?

Answer: Burner phones

Jimmy met Ira at a rebar company where Ira was working his day job, filling soda machines. He gave Jimmy his share of the take from the Hummel figure, and when Jimmy noted that it was more than he'd expected, Ira stated: "Bavarian Boy made quite a splash at the collectibles expo. Bidding war".

When Jimmy said that they'd work together again, Ira told him to call the Vet: "New job, new phone. You never know who's listening". That gave Jimmy the marketing idea. He painted the windows at the store to read: "Is The Man listening? Privacy sold here".

It was the perfect tie-in to Saul Goodman's drawer full of burner phones that we saw during the opening credits. And as co-Executive Producer Nina Jack pointed out, Jimmy painted the sign in red and yellow, the "Better Call Saul" logo colors.
