Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In the beginning of the episode, Hank was briefing his agents on the operation to find Tuco Salamanca. What evidence did they find against Tuco at the junkyard crime scene?

Answer: A bloody fingerprint

At the briefing, Hank recapped the findings from the junkyard crime scene. No-Doze, a member of Tuco's gang was dead, and Gonzo, Tuco's brother-in-law, died accidentally when the stack of cars over No-Doze's body shifted, pinning and cutting Gonzo's arm until he bled out. Both worked with Tuco, but the main piece of evidence they found was Tuco's bloody fingerprint on No-Doze.

The DEA had raided Tuco's headquarters but Tuco wasn't there, so Hank asked the agents if they were going to find him. He received a lukewarm "yes" in reply, so he asked them again and again until it turned into a pep rally for finding Tuco.

But when Hank and Gomez left the room, Hank admitted that he suspected Tuco was long gone by now.
2. Skyler had stated that Walt disappeared shortly after receiving a phone call that he didn't answer, but when Hank checked with the phone company, he found no record of a phone call. What explanation did Hank's colleague, Tim, give for the discrepancy?

Answer: Walt had a second cell phone.

Hank had gone to Skyler's house after she called him regarding Walt's absence. When he got there, his colleague, Tim, was gathering information about Walt from Skyler. When they were outside, Hank told Tim that he couldn't find any record of the phone call, and Tim responded that there must be a second cell phone. Skyler later found out about the second cell phone when Marie mentioned it while she and Hank were visiting Skyler. Hank looked rather irritated with Marie for mentioning it, and when Skyler asked what that meant, Hank replied that it meant, "Walt has a secret". Marie dismissed the possibility that Walt was having an affair but suggested that it might have something to do with his marijuana use. Hank agreed to check with Jesse Pinkman.
3. When Tuco told Walt and Jesse to empty their pockets, he found the packet of meth that Walt had mixed with ricin. What did Jesse tell him was the secret ingredient in this new batch?

Answer: Chili powder

Tuco took a sniff of the packet and said that it smelled like head cheese. Jesse tried to convince Tuco to try it, telling him that it was a new mixture they'd developed with a secret ingredient. When Jesse told him the ingredient was chili powder, Tuco wiped it off his hands and tossed the packet down - he hated chili powder. Walt later admonished Jesse for embellishing the story with "chili powder", but Jesse said as least he was trying to do something to get Tuco to take the sample.

There was an amusing continuity error in this scene. When Walt was emptying his pockets, he took a pill bottle out and stood it up on the table. When he put the packet of meth with the ricin on the table, the pill bottle was on its side. After Tuco finished looking at the pictures that were in Walt's wallet and put them down on the table, the bottle was standing up. After Tuco walked away and started talking about Gonzo, the table could be seen with the pill bottle gone. Then after Tuco was in the kitchen, ranting about being betrayed by Gonzo, he came back to the sitting area and now the pill bottle and some other items were back on the table. But when Tuco sat down and grabbed the meth packet with the ricin, the pill bottle was gone again.
4. What did Walt and Jesse discover about Gonzo when they were being held by Tuco?

Answer: Tuco hadn't killed him.

Tuco said that he hadn't been able to get a hold of Gonzo and that everyone on his crew was picked up during a raid except Gonzo. He stated that Gonzo must have been a police informant and raged that he was going to kill him when he found him. Jesse asked Tuco if he "planned to ice Gonzo, like future tense". Tuco didn't understand what he meant, and Walt jumped in quickly to clarify that it was Tuco's belief that Gonzo was currently working with the police. Jesse and Walt realized that Tuco didn't know Gonzo was dead, so he wasn't the one who killed him.
5. Tuco told Walt and Jesse that his cousins were on their way to pick them up. Where were the cousins going to take them?

Answer: Mexico

Since the DEA had raided his headquarters and captured his crew, Tuco wanted to move the drug operation to Mexico. He said his cousins were on the way to pick them up, although he apparently only intended to take Walt since he put a gun to Jesse's head until Walt intervened, claiming that he needed Jesse. Tuco said they'd probably have room for Jesse in the trunk. Walt told Tuco that he couldn't move to Mexico because he had family in Albuquerque. Tuco responded, "So, you'll get another one".
6. Pursuing all leads in his search for Walt, Hank visited Jesse's mom to see if she knew how to contact Jesse. After she confirmed that Jesse was still driving his low rider Monte Carlo and that he spent a lot of money on his car, what did Hank ask Gomez to do?

Answer: Check for LoJack

Marie told Hank to interview Walt's drug dealer, suggesting that perhaps his drug use was the reason for the second cell phone. When he asked her about Jesse, Jesse's mom asked if he was with the police, which he denied but then he told her he was with the DEA.

She asked if she needed a lawyer, but he told her he wasn't after Jesse; he just wanted to find Walt. Hank then asked if Jesse was still driving the same car. After Jesse's mom said that he had spent a lot of money on his car, Hank called Gomez and asked him to check if it had LoJack so that they could track it.
7. Since Tuco wouldn't take the ricin-spiked meth, Walt tried another method. Into which item did he put the meth?

Answer: A burrito

While Tuco was cooking burritos for everyone, Jesse and Walt quietly discussed options. Jesse thought that since Walt was going to be dead soon anyhow, he should take the lead in attacking Tuco. Walt had a better idea. When Tuco went to bring his uncle to the table, Walt poured the packet of meth in Tuco's burrito. Unfortunately Tuco's uncle saw Walt do it, and when Tuco switched burritos with him, the uncle knocked the plate on floor.

His uncle couldn't talk so he pointed his finger at Walt, but Tuco didn't notice.
8. After lunch, while Tuco was shooting at a cow through the window, what did Tuco's uncle do to get his attention?

Answer: Rang a bell repeatedly

Tuco's elderly uncle was in a wheelchair and appeared to suffer from a muscle disorder. When he knocked the burrito plate off the table, it took all of his energy to do so. He wasn't able to talk either, so he communicated by ringing a bell on his wheelchair. Tuco finally noticed he was agitated and went to see why.

He figured out that his uncle didn't like Walt and Jesse. When Tuco asked them why, Walt said the only thing he did was change the channel on the TV. Tuco asked his uncle if that was it, but he didn't respond.

When Tuco asked his uncle if they were punking him, he responded with one ding. Tuco then threw Jesse through the door and started beating him up.
9. Tuco had thrown Jesse to the ground and had a gun pointed at his head, when Walt confessed that they had tried to poison him. When Tuco turned toward Walt, what did Jesse do?

Answer: Hit Tuco with a rock

While Tuco had his gun pointed at Jesse's head, Tuco screamed at Walt to tell him what he did to anger his uncle. Walt told Tuco that they tried to poison him because he was "insane, degenerate piece of filth and you deserve to die". Jesse had grabbed rock while he was on the ground and smashed Tuco's head, knocking him down. Tuco dropped his rifle and Walt picked it up but was unable to get a clean shot at Tuco.

While Jesse and Tuco were fighting, Jesse grabbed the pistol Tuco had tucked in his pants and shot him in his side. Walt said to let him bleed, and the two headed for Jesse's car.
10. At the end of the episode, who killed Tuco Salamanca?

Answer: Hank

Walt and Jesse got in Jesse's car, but they didn't have the keys. Then they saw a vehicle coming, and assuming it was Tuco's cousins, they ran off to hide, leaving Tuco's rifle in the car. Tuco meanwhile had hobbled over to car just as the other vehicle pulled up.

It was Hank, and he initially mistook Tuco for Jesse until Tuco turned around. Tuco then grabbed rifle from Jesse's car, setting off Jesse's low rider hydraulic system, which bounced along while Tuco and Hank engaged in a fire fight which ended when Hank shot Tuco dead. Walt and Jesse had been watching from a distance but didn't know who shot Tuco until Hank walked around to the other side of the car.
