When Walt and Jesse finally reached a road after trekking across the desert, Walt hitched a ride in the back of a pickup truck, leaving Jesse to find another way into town. Before they split up, they had already drawn up their plans to cover for the missing time. Jesse told Walt, "It's a bold plan, Mr. White". That evening, a clerk at a Hi-Lo Market found Walt's shoe blocking the automatic door.

She then found a trail of clothes which lead to Walt standing completely naked in the store.

Answer: Badger's cousin towed it.

Jesse explained to Badger that the police couldn't break into the house without probable cause. Once they were gone, Jesse and Badger went in and Jesse immediately began to dismantle the meth lab while an excited Badger exclaimed, "You are Willy Wonka, and I've got the Golden Ticket... Sail me down your chocolate river of meth". Badger begged Jesse to cook a batch for him, but Jesse remained focused and got the equipment out of the house. Badger's cousin told Jesse it would cost $1,000 bucks to tow the RV because "it's not the miles, it's the cargo". Jesse only had $560 on him, but Badger told his cousin that Jesse was good for the rest of the money.

Answer: The medications he was taking

Walt's oncologist confirmed that the cancer hadn't spread to the brain, but neither he nor the other doctor could explain what had happened to Walt. Walt maintained that he was feeling much better since he had been off all of the medications over the past few days and suggested that the medications and chemo could be the cause of the episode. Skyler added that there was "page after page of side effects" on the meds he was taking. Walt's oncologist said that they'd look into that possibility but Walt's other doctor requested that Walt meet with a psychiatrist since he had been stressed lately.

Answer: At a motel

Per Jesse's request, Badger placed an anonymous call, sending the DEA agents to the motel where Jesse was holed up with Wendy, the drug-addicted prostitute who Hank had talked to in the "And the Bags in the River" episode of season one. The DEA agents broke down the door of the room where Jesse and Wendy would later claim that they had been all weekend; this was his plan for an alibi for the time that Tuco was shot since his car was found at Tuco's hideout.

Answer: Jesse's share of the meth money

When Hank asked Jesse about Tuco, Jesse denied knowing any "Taco" and said that he didn't even know his car was missing until the police told him so. Jesse claimed that he had been holed up with Wendy for three days, and when Hank asked why he didn't answer his phone, Jesse said that he had left it in his car. Hank asked if he had left anything else in the car and then showed him the bag with rolls of cash in it. Jesse had to deny that the $67,920 was his. Hank told Gomez that they could use the money to buy new softball jerseys for the department.

Answer: The psychiatrist

Walt was anxious to get out of the hospital, but the psychiatrist told him that they couldn't let him leave until they were certain that the episode wouldn't occur again. Walt then told the psychiatrist that he faked disappearance after confirming that the psychiatrist had to maintain client confidentiality. Walt told him he ran away because: "My wife is seven months pregnant with a baby we didn't intend. My fifteen year old son has cerebral palsy. I am an extremely overqualified high school chemistry teacher... I have watched all of my colleagues and friends surpass me in every way imaginable and within 18 months, I will be dead. And you ask why I ran?"

Answer: Hector Salamanca

After interviewing Wendy, Gomez told Hank that he needed to cut them loose, but Hank wanted one more shot at Jesse. He brought in Tuco's uncle, Hector Salamanca, to identify Jesse and confirm that Jesse was at Tuco's hideout when Tuco was shot. But when Gomez asked Salamanca if Jesse was at Tuco's hideout, Salamanca didn't respond. Salamanca refused to confirm Hank's suspicions against Jesse even though he stared down Jesse and gave him the evil eye. Gomez told Hank it was because "old school gang-bang Mexicans don't help the Feds". Gomez told Hank to let Jesse go; he didn't think he had anything to do with Tuco's shooting.

Answer: To hide the money and gun that he'd left in the diaper box

After getting a call from Jesse and telling Jesse that he still wanted to cook meth ("What's changed, Jesse?"), Walt started to calculate how much money he still needed to reach the magic $737,000. When he mentioned "cash on hand", he remembered that he'd left the money and Jesse's gun sitting in a diaper box on the floor of the nursery on the night that he'd been abducted by Tuco.

He was scheduled to be discharged the next day but couldn't wait. He snuck into his house and moved the money and gun back into the vent but was almost caught by Skyler when she woke up early.

He managed to get back to the hospital, and on his way back, he saw one of the missing persons posters that Skyler had distributed at the bus stop.

Answer: Tuco's "grill"

Hank's colleagues surprised him with a cake and a present following his shootout with Tuco. They had had Tuco's jeweled teeth grill mounted in a glass cube and gave it to Hank as a present. He told them they were "sick puppies", but he later showed off the present to Walt and Walt Jr. Walt looked horrified when Hank showed it to him - bad memories?

Answer: A second cell phone

After taking Walt home from the hospital, Walt at first tried to lighten the mood by dropping his bathrobe and telling Skyler he was going to go to the store. That got a chuckle from Skyler, but after he got into bed, she asked him if he had a second cell phone. Hank had told her that there weren't any calls to Walt's phone on the night that he had disappeared so it had to have been a second cell phone on which he got the call shortly before he walked off. Walt said it was odd and that he didn't remember anything from that night, but he denied having a second cell phone. Skyler clearly didn't believe him and turned away from him when he went to kiss her goodnight.
