Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Walt arrived at Skyler's hospital room to find Skyler holding the baby. Who else was in the room?

Answer: Ted Beneke

While Walt apologized profusely for missing the birth, Skyler didn't appear upset and said, "Meet your daughter" as she handed the baby to him. Just as Walt was saying "hi" to little Holly, Ted said, "Congratulations, Walt". Walt was surprised that he was there, but Skyler explained that Ted was the one who drove her to the hospital. Walt thanked Ted for doing so, but he didn't look pleased that Ted was involved.
2. While Skyler and Walt were putting baby Holly in her bassinet, Jesse called their house. Walt answered the phone and since Flynn was there, he pretended he was speaking to the Assistant Principal Carmen. What was the reason for Jesse's frantic call?

Answer: The meth stash was missing

Jane was awoken from her heroin-induced slumber when her father called to remind her about the Narcotics Anonymous meeting. As she was leaving Jesse's room, she noticed the broken door and nonchalantly told Jesse, "Somebody broke in". When Jesse went into the kitchen, he realized the meth he had stashed under the sink was gone. Flynn initially answered the phone when Jesse called Walt, but Jesse didn't speak so Flynn hung up.

When the phone rang again, Walt grabbed it, and realizing it was Jesse, he pretended it was Carmen until Flynn left the area.

Then Walt called Jesse a "junkie imbecile" and wanted to know why he was calling that number. When Jesse told him that stash had been stolen, Walt realized that he didn't remember anything that had happened the night before so he just hung up.
3. Baby Holly was crying in the middle of the night so Walt got up to feed her. He then carried her into the garage/laundry room to show her what?

Answer: The money stashed behind the insulation

"Hey," Walt told her, "Do you want to see something?" He took her into the unfinished garage/laundry room and said, "See what your daddy did for you", as he pulled up the insulation behind the dryer. "That's right, Daddy did that", he said. Walt had become increasingly frustrated that he had not been able to let his family know about his success from his meth enterprise.

When he later met with Saul, he lamented, "This is insane. I have so much cash on hand that I actually count it by weighing it on my bathroom scale and yet I can't spend it. I can't tell my family about it."
4. Jesse showed up at Walt's classroom, looking for his share of the money from the deal with Gus. What did Walt tell him?

Answer: He wouldn't give Jesse the money until he was clean

After Walt had hung up on Jesse, Jesse noticed that there were four messages on the phone, and after listening to the voice mails, he figured out that Walt had broken in and taken the meth stash. He was upset that Walt left him to freak out over it "like he had dropped the ball". Walt responded, "When have you ever NOT dropped the ball?" Walt blamed Jesse for making him miss the birth of his daughter since Jesse was too "blasted out of [his] mind" to help with the exchange.

When Jesse asked how much they got, Walt said it was $480k each after Saul's cut. Jesse asked for his share of the money, but Walt said if he gave it to him, Jesse would be dead within a week. Jesse said he was off heroin; it made him sick and he didn't even like it. Jesse said, "I'm clean, Mr. White, for real". Walt then gave him a glass beaker and told him to pee in it.

He said he'd give Jesse the money if he was clean. Jesse hesitated which told Walt that he wasn't. Walt told him that he'd keep the money, and Jesse would need "to rely on the kindness of strangers and his junkie girlfriend" for money to get high. Jesse threw the beaker at the blackboard after Walt called Jane his junkie girlfriend.
5. What had Flynn created to raise money for Walt's surgery?

Answer: A "Save Walter White" website

Flynn had built a website "SaveWalterWhite.com" to solicit donations for the surgery. It even had a "Paypal" account, something that tickled Saul Goodman when Walt told him about it. Walt was touched by the effort until he realized that Flynn wanted people to donate. Skyler was upset when Walt said that they couldn't ask people for money. She said, "This was all his idea. He worked so hard on it. Just let him help", but Walt said it was charity, which bothered Skyler since she didn't consider charity a bad thing. Walt called it "cyber begging" when he told Saul about it, but Saul suggested that he use the website to funnel his cash to his family. "Zombies", said Saul, "I got a guy who knows this guy who knows this "Rain Man" type, right. He lives with his mother in her basement in Belarus. He's a hacker cracker extraordinaire. He can hijack computers all around the world and turn them into zombies that do his bidding." Saul said that this way, the money would look like a lot of little donations rather than one big donation. Walt didn't look pleased; he wanted his family to know that he was the one providing for them.

The website is actually real; apparently when the episode first aired, clicking on the donation button would take you to a cancer charity website. It was later changed to take users to the AMC cable channel page for "Breaking Bad".
6. How did Jane's father find about about her involvement with Jesse?

Answer: He saw her come out of Jesse's place

Jane once again was awoken by a call from her father when she was late for a Narcotics Anonymous meeting, but when she ran out of Jesse's place, her father was there, standing by his car. He pushed his way in, and when he saw the drugs in the bedroom, he started throwing Jesse around.

He told Jesse to get out, but Jesse grabbed a baseball bat and threatened him. Jane's father then called the police but hung up after Jane promised to go back to rehab the next day. After he left, Jesse asked her if she meant it about going to rehab, and she said, "If we had enough money, no one could make us do anything."
7. Skyler told Walt that he had a phone call from an old student who wanted a letter of recommendation, but it was actually Jane on the phone. What did she want?

Answer: To get Jesse's money

Jesse had told Jane about the money that Walt owed him the night before, just as he was injecting himself with heroin. Jane asked him how much money it was, and he responded 480 just as he started to pass out. She said, "I'd be mad too if someone owed me 500 bucks", but he then said it was 480 thousand. "What?!", she said as she tried to rouse him, but he was already out.

After the incident with her father, Jane called Walt, pretending to be a former student when Skyler answered the phone. When Walt took the phone, she told him she was "Jesse's junkie girlfriend" and told him to give Jesse the money. Walt told her that he was holding Jesse's money until he was clean: "I will not contribute to his overdose". Jane responded that she was blackmailing him because she knew all about him: "Do right by Jesse tonight or I will burn you to the ground". Jesse wasn't happy: "I'm not the kind of dude who rolls", he said, "He's my partner" to which Jane replied "I'm your partner". Skyler helped the situation by asking Walt to go get diapers, and he used the opportunity to take the money to Jesse.
8. Walt stopped in a bar for a beer while he was out supposedly getting diapers. Who was sitting next to him at the bar?

Answer: Jane's father

After dropping the money off at Jesse's (and telling a sheepish Jesse, "Nice job wearing the pants"), Walt stopped at the bar. Skyler called just as he ordered a beer, and he convincingly told her a story about not finding newborn-size diapers in the three places he'd stopped at so far.

He said he'd keep looking, and when he put the phone down, the man next to him said "Well played". It turned out to be Jane's dad (although Walt didn't know this), and the two had a conversation about water on Mars and kids. Walt talked about Jesse, calling him his nephew, and saying how frustrating it was when you knew what was best for them and they wouldn't listen. Jane's dad said, "You can't give up on them, never", which apparently struck a chord with Walt for he decided to try to talk to Jesse again.
9. Jesse and Jane discussed starting a new life together in what country?

Answer: New Zealand

When Walt gave the money to Jesse, he asked how he would know that Jane would keep quiet, and Jesse responded that he'd never hear from them again. After Walt left, Jane and Jesse discussed starting a new life together. Jane said they could move to South America, Europe or Australia. Jesse asked if New Zealand was part of Australia. "New Zealand. That's where they made "Lord of the Rings", said Jesse.

He was excited about New Zealand and said that she could do her art there ("you can paint the local castles") and he could work as a bush pilot.

She agreed but said they needed to get clean first.
10. At the end of the episode, who died while Walt watched and did nothing to stop it?

Answer: Jane

When Jane told Jesse that they needed to get clean, she suggested that they start right away by flushing the remaining drugs, but when they went into the bedroom, they apparently had a change of heart. When Walt returned to Jesse's place after talking with Jane's father, he found them both passed out. Walt shook Jesse to try to wake him up and doing so, he unintentionally knocked Jane on her back. Jane then started to vomit, and Walt rushed to help but just as he was reaching for her, he stopped and backed away. You could see him turning it over in his mind: Her relationship was dangerous to Jesse, and she was a danger to him too, but he struggled internally with doing nothing.

When her eyes rolled back, he was overcome with the horror of what he had done and a tear fell from his eye.

But then Heisenberg took over - a powerful scene that demonstrated why Bryan Cranston took home all those Emmy awards.
