Answer: In the subway

In the beginning of this episode, Mac and Danny are at a crime scene in an apartment. The victim was shot and killed and a gun was left at the crime scene. When Danny looks into another room, a man bursts out of the closet and runs out of the apartment. Danny chases him to a subway station where the cops are following them.

Here, Danny is shot at and he hides behind a pillar. He ends up shooting the man who is shooting back and he kills him. When the police check the man that Danny shot, they realize that he had an NYPD badge. Danny realizes he may have shot the wrong man.

After the ordeal, Danny tells the story to Mac and all of the witness are unsure if Danny hit the right man. Luckily, Aiden is able to find the only evidence from the scene, a tape recorder that was left behind by a witness. Although Danny is required by internal affairs to leave a statement, Mac is more concerned with Danny's well-being and he sends him to the hospital.

Stella is on a different case in this episode. Instead, she is called to Central Park, where a woman named Sandra Lopez is found in a restroom. Sandra's two friends, Glenda and Matrice, claim that Sandra entered the washroom while they were having lunch and never came out.

They also tell Stella that Sandra worked for Raquel and Roland Myerson, who are famous in New York for antiques, as a nanny. The child that she was looking after was sent to welfare.

Daniella Myerson was sent to the board of Child Welfare following the death of her nanny. Stella is required to visit the child in order to perform an examination which turns out fine anyways. Her parents, who have a timetable of their own, are to arrive back in New York after a business deal in one and a half days. Meanwhile, Hawkes and Mac discuss the body of the cop.

A non-fatal bullet struck him in the shoulder, but the second bullet remains unaccounted for. Mac also examines the recorder and hears the victims saying 'I'm on the job, I'm undercover, don't shoot' before Danny takes the final shot.

Dr. Hawkes helps Stella with the nanny situation by identifying the fatal wound as blunt force trauma to the head from a piece of granite. Also, the victim's nose hairs and throat are burnt, and she tested positive on the sexual assault test. Stella first heads back to the restroom to find rocks fitting the profile.

When she checks them at the lab, she finds one with a fingerprint, but is unable to find a match on the system. Stella speaks with the Myerson family butler who mentions that Ms. Lopez had worked with the family for seven months, and that following the theft of one of the family's nesting dolls, she was a tad off.

He also mentions that Sandra's boyfriend was 'a bit dodgy', so Stella heads to Lady Demons Fire Bar, where he works to get more info. Steve Dark, the man who was with Sandra, says that she slept with him to breath fire.

When she inhaled the flames to put them out she accidentally burnt her throat in the process. Stella also finds that Dark's prints don't match the one from the rock.

Answer: Sapphire

Mac forces Danny out of the case that he is involved with and gives him a business card for a good lawyer. This causes Danny to feel like Mac has no hope for him. Aiden and Flack are able to find one of the two missing bullets in the subway and it turns out to be from the perp's gun.

This means that Danny's second bullet would have killed the cop. Stella soon realizes that Sandra's prints were recorded for a theft and that she may have been responsible. She and her nanny friend, Glenda, wore expensive items from the household that Glenda worked for including a ten karat sapphire necklace.

When it went missing, they blamed her for it.

Answer: Into a tree

In order to get more evidence to help Danny, Aiden and Flack tear apart Jay Knight's apartment, where the whole case started. The blood spatter on the wall that Danny noticed from earlier is a major clue for them. They realize that before Jay was killed, he shot at a second perp in front of the window.

This bullet went into a tree. At the lab, Hawkes is able to use a wedge to get the bullet out of the tree. It tests positive for blood.

Answer: Glenda

When Stella runs Glenda's prints through the system, they also come back with a result for theft. It turns out that Glenda stole a watch from the people that her friend Matrice works for. When Stella interrogates Matrice, she calls for a lawyer to avoid a fingerprint sample.
Meanwhile, Aiden discovers that the blood from the bullet matches the blood from the apartment, which also matches the blood from Detective Minhaus, the cop. It turns out that Danny didn't kill Minhaus. A shot from Jay Knight's gun hit a major artery and he bled to death.

Although it sounds predictable that 'the butler did it', it turned out to be her Indian friend, Matrice. Stella examined the nesting dolls from the Myerson apartment and found Matrice's print on the smallest doll. This print matched the rock from the park.

It turns out that the three friends were in a theft ring, and when Sandra backed out they returned their items. Matrice ended up hitting Sandra with the rock when she did this.

Answer: Impala

Flack and Aiden find Minhaus' blood beside an impala outside the building and a towel used to stop his blood. Using the car, they track down Michael Armstrong who confesses. He and Minhaus were partners, and when Jay Knight shot at the same time as Minhaus, the Detective ran off. Later when they were in the subway, Minhaus tried to kill Armstrong to explain why he was shot.

In the end, Danny kept his job, and the final bullet remained missing. Mac puts Danny at the bottom of the pile for a promotion.
