Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What is the name of the rape victim?

Answer: Robin

The first case in this episode involves the rape of a young woman named Robin Prescott, who was on her way to attend an event with her father. She makes it to the event, bruised and bloodied, and she collapses. When the CSIs arrive, they can't get anything out of her because she drifts in and out of consciousness. Following her bloody footprints, Mac determines that she was somewhere in Central Park and Stella goes off to examine the woman's clothes. Later, in a darkened alleyway, Aiden examines a gunshot victim with Mac.

There are no witnesses, and no evidence, so all they have to work with is the bullet inside the body. The odd thing is that something looks like it left the entry gunshot wound.
2. A leaf from which kind of flower was found on the rape victim's clothing?

Answer: Peony

While investigating Robin's clothes, Danny finds a peony leaf. With this, he checks the maintenance database for Central Park and he finds that only two areas in Central Park include Peony it their gardens. There are also geranium, wisteria, magnolia and columbine samples from the victims clothing, so the location is able to be narrowed down further to a location just north of Strawberry Fields. Stella searches the area and the crime scene is located. Meanwhile, Hawkes tells Mac that there's no bullet to be found in the gunshot victim's body because it was eaten by a rat.
3. What is found at the Central Park crime scene?

Answer: A nose ring

At the crime scene, Stella is able to locate Robin's wallet, purse, and keys as well as the shoeprints of Robin and her attacker. Stella also finds a nosering in the dirt with traces of blood on it. She and Danny send Dr. Giles many samples from the crime scene.

They also find tin foil wrapped around a steak, and when they test it, they find coffee grounds. Using this, they manage to determine where the steak was bought. Judging by the way the steak was in the foil without any trimmings and such, they feel that it was an employee's steak since it's from a four-star restaurant.

When Stella and Flack go to the restaurant, they find the one employee who usually wears a nose ring, and they catch him.
4. Which city did Mac once live in?

Answer: Chicago

Aiden and Mac work on the alleyway case and they try to determine where the missing bullet went. Using the knowledge that rats rarely go more than sixty-five yards away from their nests at any time, they find a trail that the rats took that hugged the wall of the nearby building.

The trail leads into a pipe and into the building, and Mac finds them in the roof. Luckily, using a scanner, they manage to find that the bullet rat is amongst them.
5. What is the name of the man who catches the rat for Mac?

Answer: Carl

Carl goes on talking about rats and how they're responsible for phone disruptions, and how they multiply, and how it ate the bullet, but Mac and Aiden don't really care. It takes a bit, but they finally get him to get to work and catch the rat.
Meanwhile, Stella asks Robin a few questions, but she has trouble remembering what really happened. According to Robin, she got in a cab to go through Central Park, but the traffic was too bad, so she got out. Everything after that was blank.
6. What type of food is used to attract the mice?

Answer: Eggs

Aiden and Carl use a trick that Aiden's brother taught her in order to catch and poison the mice. They place cooked eggs in traps and simply wait for the right rats to come in. When they check back, their rat isn't there. In fact, when Aiden checks the ceiling of the building, it's the only one there. Luckily, it's dead. Meanwhile, Stella has a problem with the semen that was found on Robin's clothes. Dr. Giles finds that there is no sperm in the sample, which means that the rapist either had a vasectomy, or he had a rare medical condition leaving him azoospermic.

This new setback means that the semen DNA can't be compared to the DNA from the restaurant employee.
7. What is not something that contains linolenic acid?

Answer: Wool

The linolenic acid eliminates the restaurant employee as a suspect. Using a powder found on Robin's dress, Danny uses mass spectrometry to find traces of linolenic acid. He links this to walnut dust (which the substance is an ingredient of) which used to clean statues.

The four-man crew that cleans the statues with walnut dust in Central Park was working on the day that Robin was raped, but the statues were nowhere near the crime scene. The murderer carried the dust on his clothes and it transferred to the victim. Stella and Danny decide to round up the statue crew and get semen samples to compare to the one found on Robin's clothes, but they all come back negative.

They still have no biological evidence to work with.
8. Is the bullet from the alleyway murderer found in the rat?

Answer: Yes

Aiden takes the rat to the lab where she and Mac perform an autopsy. They find the bullet and find that the rat never digested it because it lodge in its windpipe, asphyxiating it. After this, they put the bullet into a computer and try to match it up. Mac decides to check the rat to determine if the rat somehow shaped the bullet, and Aiden checks various bullets to find one that nearly matches their evidence. Meanwhile, Stella tries to find more people who could've been at the crime scene and she brings a gardener to the crime lab for questioning.

The gardener also gives a sperm sample which proves he's azoospermic, but this won't help them since a jury would have reasonable doubt.
9. What is the Central Park rapist's profession?

Answer: Gardener

Stella tries to get Robin to the lab to see if she could pick her rapist out of a line-up, but she doesn't show up for it. After a shower and a few encouraging words from Mac, Stella checks the evidence again with Danny, Mac, and Aiden. Mac finds that Danny had documented a sap-like substance on Robin's panties, so he asks about Billy the gardener. Aiden says that the city maintenance crew confirmed that Billy was in the north part of the park working on a beetle infestation, so they check his clothes, and sure enough, they find the correct sap. Case closed.
10. What is the name of the alleyway victim?

Answer: Jordy

Mac brings a man, Calvin, in for questioning and finds that he robbed a deli earlier and stole some cash to buy some drugs. Mac hypothesizes that he went to the gunshot victim, but he didn't have enough money to buy drugs, so he shot him. The bullets from the deli robbery matched the one bullet in the rat. Mac closes the case when Calvin reveals that he knew the victim.
