Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Sheldon and Stella comment the victim doesn't look real, with orange eyes, green hair, red lipstick, and no trace of blood except for the bullet hole in the center her head. Where is their crime scene?

Answer: in a mannequin warehouse

The owner of the mannequin warehouse lost his wife a few years earlier. Every year he has a dance with one of the mannequins in her memory on their anniversary. While he is dancing, he finds the unusual body among the mannequin dolls. The victim also had a small doll of a man beside her with the name "Johnny" scribbled on it.
2. When Dr. Sid Hammerback cleans the victim up, she is a young, twenty year old, blond victim, that had several cosmetic surgeries to look like something else. What does Adam discover Venus' appearance is altered to identify with?

Answer: an avatar from a virtual reality website

The young lady was modeling an avatar named Venus, from a website known as Second Life. Adam calls her the Paris Hilton of the website. Second Life allows people to build and customize their own character and participate in activities such as shopping, gaming, and socializing. Mac sends Adam to follow up with the website on who is the real person behind the avatar.
3. The team links the small doll found at the crime scene to an online user named Johnny O' Dell, with an avatar named Don123. How do they decide to make contact with him?

Answer: by creating an avatar character named Taylor

With the help of Adam, Mac creates a male avatar named Taylor and enters the virtual reality website. Mac uses the help of White Rabbit, an avatar that oversees all the other activity on the website. When he first approaches Don123, the avatar rejects him. Adam redesigns Mac's character as a girl, with similar style to their case victim. With Stella's help, they are able to engage a conversation with Don123, long enough to track his location and address in real life.
4. Johnny admits to creating the doll left at the crime scene as a gift for Venus. During questioning, why does Johnny say he stood Venus up the night he was supposed to meet her?

Answer: He is dying from an acute disease.

Johnny is dying from multiple sclerosis, a condition that isn't curable. He is in love with Venus, and in the virtual reality website, he does not have to worry about his disease. Virtually, he feels like he can do anything and beat his disease, no questions asked.

In real life, he carries a gun with thoughts of ending his life. He didn't want a start a relationship in the real world that he couldn't finish.
5. In a search for the location of a player with information, Mac finds Johnny shot to death on his laptop. What is the cause for Johnny's murder?

Answer: He challenged the person impersonating Venus online.

Johnny is shocked after the investigation team tells him Venus is dead, because he had been interacting with the avatar online days after her death. While Mac is trying to find information about Venus by interacting with other avatars, Johnny creates a different avatar and challenges the person impersonating Venus. Mac tries to trace the signal, but by the time CSI arrives at the location they find Johnny on his computer dead.
6. Sheldon discovers the bullet in Venus' case matches another case from New Jersey. In what high profile position was the man who was shot, and posed to look like a hunting accident?

Answer: a district judge

Judge McHenry was a New Jersey district judge that was a victim in an unsolved murder case from the week before. He was shot in the head and posed to look like a hunting accident. The bullet has the same markings as the one that killed Venus, when Sheldon does a computer case search and comparison.

Sheldon also matches the tick and wood evidence from Venus' body, to the woods the judge was murdered in. The evidence from the judge's case had transferred to Venus when the killer moved her body.
7. Mac goes back to the virtual website and talks to the impersonating Venus. What does the avatar show him online, after telling Mac she knows who he is?

Answer: a gallery of bloodied portraits

When Mac asks the impersonator if they can talk somewhere private, she leads him behind a curtain. The hallway turns black and when the computer room lights up, Venus has disappeared. She tells Mac that the White Rabbit told her who he is and never to trust someone you haven't met in person.

The hallway turns into a gallery of pictures with victims shot in the forehead. Screams can be heard down the hallway, when Mac realizes these are people the impersonator has killed or is targeting. Mac calls it a "trophy room".

When he tries to talk to her again, she infects the lab system with a virus and shuts the lab down.
8. The killer is using Venus' identity to find victims on their hit list. Based on the avatar's log, who does Danny discover is the killer's next target?

Answer: a congressman

The killer murdered Cheryl Miller to have access to her avatar, because control of the avatar gave them access to high profile people they were paid to assassinate. Using the activity log, Danny finds that the impersonating Venus is targeting the owner of the avatar Mr. TCB. Using the contact info, they call the number and have a conference call with a very shocked David King. Mr. King is a congressional aide, and admits the avatar actually belongs to his boss, Congressman Devane.

He apologizes and tells the CSI that the congressman is in New York City.
9. Mac and the team are rushing to find the next targeted victim before there is another murder. Who does the doorman tell them is going to the same apartment?

Answer: a woman dressed in green hair and a black coat

Mac and his team arrive at the apartment building to protect the next target. When they ask the doorman for directions, he tells them another visitor is heading the same way. Mac looks up and sees a woman dressed as Venus' avatar, with green hair and a black suit.

He tells everyone to get down and shots are fired. The assassin takes the elevator and Mac tries to catch up by taking the stairs.
10. While the assassin is being pursued, she shoots a hostage to stall the police. What does she use as an exit to escape?

Answer: a trash chute

The assassin ditches her disguise and uses a bystander in the hallway as a hostage to pretend they are a couple. When Mac tells her to stop, she turns around and shoots the man she is holding. Mac is temporarily stalled because he tries to help the victim bleeding. Stella tends to the injured man, but the assassin escapes Mac by using the trash chute in the hallway.
