Daniel thought he spotted something behind some bushes placed there next to a rock slab. Behind those bushes and under some leaves was a battered and severely injured Sully.
The story goes that if Joe Lando didn't want to come back as Sully, John Schneider's character was created as a replacement for Michaela.

Answer: Dorothy and Cloud Dancing

Knowing his brother was in trouble Cloud Dancing left the safety of Tongue River Valley with Dorothy who found him to find Sully. Dorothy told Michaela at the clinic that Cloud Dancing was waiting outside of town and Michaela finally told her Sully was alive and found. Cloud Dancing and Dorothy arrived at the cave where he and Daniel Simon were introduced for the first time.

He returned later to tell them that Marjorie had a relapse and had taken a turn for the worse. Sully and Brian hugged and started to mourn Marjorie when they heard a thud outside the cave. Sully found Daniel passed out cold from the diphtheria and with a fever. He ordered Brian to throw out all the stuff Daniel brought and he got Daniel back to town on his horse. I must call into question how could a unconscious man slumped over though he was sit astride on a horse?

She made it to the clinic only once but went straight home soon after returning. She then claimed to be lightheaded on two different days, Katie was sick and next she was visibly shaking trying to get on her horse. Michaela couldn't admit to herself that she was scared. Today it would be called PTSD.

After Michaela, Sully, Matthew and Daniel went to retrieve Cloud Dancing to town where he'd have protected status they happened upon a wedding. In the meadow just outside the church the Reverend and Father Carlos were marrying Jake and Theresa in a dual ceremony.

Others in town preferred the Chinese stay quarantined or leave but Hank had other plans. Hank was dousing numerous things in the camp with some liquid and was about to light it ablaze. Daniel had been keeping an eye on him and stopped him from lighting the camp up, and arrested Hank. Hank later posted bail and had a change of venue for his trial where Daniel and Matthew testified against him. On Matthew's idea the judge forced Hank to pay $100 in restitution to the Chinese camp.

The camp ended up burning down with Hank as the only suspect but no concrete evidence proved his innocence or guilt.

Michaela suggested, "You should send a wire to father Ethan tell him about the wedding." Colleen replied, "I suppose I should. But I'm going to make it clear if he shows up I don't want him to give me away. I want it to be you Sully." Sully said, "Well I'd be honored."
