Nancy had earlier locked herself in her room and refused to eat. On the night Mr. French came over, Nancy asked Mary and Susan if they wanted to go to the movies. Susan had to study for a test and Mary didn't have any money. Nancy then offered to loan Mary the money.

When asked why she was in such a good mood, Nancy claimed that Joan was neglecting the family by carrying on with the ridiculous charade that she was a working woman.

Susan claimed Tom was polluting his body with too much cholesterol, so she was taking steps to correct the problem. Tom replied that he liked cholesterol, which Susan said was poison.

Mary handed over ketchup for Tom to put on top of the salad as a compromise.

Joan came into the room and saw Tom staring at the television cart. She asked what he was doing and he replied that he was watching the news... or at least where the news should have been. Joan responded that she had forgotten to tell Tom that Nicholas and Julian had taken the television outside to camp out.

Tm said they must be roughing it - they had left the remote control behind.

Julian was telling Tom that he had fun at the Bradford house and that his parents fought. Tom replied that he was glad Julian was comfortable at the Bradford house. That's when Julian said that Tom reminded him of his grandfather.
