He read the worried look in Alex's eyes, and pulled out his phone. It was a type of cellphone that would have been popular back in 2010, when the outbreak happened. At the top of his screen you could clearly read "MOM- Cell" and their conversation was:

Mom- "Your dad will still pick you up at 5:30 when you land. I didn't get on."
Jake- "What time is the next flight out?"
Mom- "7:00am- I'm calling you."

She called as the plane was taxiing out to the runway. He tried to keep texting after their call ended, as reports had come in that flights were being grounded. But, his texts did not go through. They'd been on stand by, and he'd gotten the last seat. She had assured him they'd meet up at their destination, even if she had to drive there.

She was an older woman, who was knitting with pink/rose colored yarn as the flight attendant came by offering drinks. Though we did not have a clear time how long the flight had been up at this point, I can say drinks are not served until the plane reaches cruising altitude. The flight attendant's name was Deirdre.

Sheila Shaw played Connie (whose name I did not hear while watching), the knitting lady.

We found this out as Jake and the lady next to him talked about him being able to count on his mom to meet him in Phoenix. He told her his dad was waiting for them there, and that he'd just moved out there for work. Alex overheard all of this, and she looked resigned to knowledge only she seemed to have. Brendan Meyer played Jake.

The knitting lady asked Deidre, the flight attendant, if she could use the first class restroom because the man "still" had not come out. And, since they were beginning their descent into Phoenix, he needed to be back in his seat for the landing. As this was happening, Jake looked out the window and watched the city lights below blinking out. Brett Rickaby played Marcus.

I had a lay over in Phoenix in 2015, and it's like a bowl of a city nestled inside a mountain valley. I really enjoyed the view.

As Marcus fell to the floor dead from inside the restroom, the captain came on the speaker and announced the re-route due to a power failure in Phoenix.

LAX is the airport code for Los Angeles International Airport. FLG is the code for Flagstaff, Arizona; SEA is for Seattle/Tacoma International (often referred to as SeaTac; ABQ is the code for Albuquerque, New Mexico.

After the air marshal maneuvered undead Marcus back inside the restroom, and Alex locked it, she saw blood on her left wrist/arm area. She wiped it away and there was no wound, but Deirdre had a bite mark on her right arm. Alex told the marshal to tie Deirdre down, and Deidre reported that lights were out everywhere and there was no place to land. Marcus' wife eventually let him out of the restroom and he went right for her throat. The air marshal ran out of bullets trying to shoot him. Alex used one of the knitting needles to stab Marcus in the head, and finally stopped him. Deirdre looked on at what was to be her fate. Alex was forced to use the knitting needle on Marcus' wife as well.

Kathleen Gati played Deirdre. She has also starred on "General Hospital".
Lisa Waltz played Marcus' wife. She's also been on "90210" and "Young and the Restless".

During his tussle with undead Marcus, the air marshal fired off some errant bullets. This was what most likely caused the initial crack in the window. After a while (it was daylight by this time), the window completely broke away.

She told him she was sorry, that she'd gotten his mom's seat. Jake said it was okay, that his mom was probably with his dad right now. I am not sure if he meant she was literally in Phoenix or that his parents were both dead.
