Answer: Hondo

Al once again just wants to stay home and watch a John Wayne film. This time it's "Hondo". However, Peggy has other ideas and wants Al to do chores around the house. Peggy buys the wrong batteries at the store so Al has to go exchange them. However, the computer system goes down and Al is trapped in the store because the doors are controlled by computers. He tells a wild west story about the evilness of computers and how much Al hates computers.

Answer: Chad

Al and Jefferson have placed large bets on Chad, a star college quarterback. They had inside information that the other team's star player will not be playing so Jefferson gives this tip to his mob-connected friends. It appears Chad is a shoe in to lead his team to victory.

However, Chad is distracted by Kelly whom he begins to date. Kelly promises Al she will not do anything with Chad until after the game. However, Kelly accidentally breaks Chad's leg when she causes him to fall down the stairs.

Answer: Sports

Al auditions for a sports TV game show called "Touchdown Trivia". However, despite his knowledge of sports, Al is not selected to play because the producers don't think he's attractive enough. He ropes in Kelly and trains her in everything sports related. Kelly gets on the show in the hopes of winning the $10,000 grand prize.

Answer: They are from the 1970s

When Al and Jefferson discover a hidden cache of shoes from the 1970s, they decide to sell them. The shoes are a retro hit and a famous model comes to the shoe and wants to wear a pair for a major runway shoe. Meanwhile, Peggy has moved to Wanker County to take care of her sick mother. For the first few episodes of season nine, Peggy would only appear in very brief scenes or her voice would be heard over the phone.

This is because Katey Sagal was pregnant at the time and on maternity leave.

Answer: Bud

Bud gets a job at the department of motor vehicles giving drivers tests. Bud hates this job but he needs it because Al will not give him the $700 for a trip to Milwaukee. Meanwhile, Al accidentally lets his driver's license expire and Bud is the one proctoring the test. Bud, keen on revenge, is more than happy to throw Al a few tricks during the test.

Answer: Uncle Sticky

Kelly gets a job playing the sexy girl in a beer commercial. However, shortly before the shoot, she develops a huge zit on her forehead. Kelly is desperate to get rid of her pimple and resorts to using some of Uncle Sticky's pimple cream which smokes in the container. According to Al, Uncle Sticky is just out of prison for crimes involving his pimple potion.

Answer: Amber

Bud is desperate to study for a scholarship exam but everyone keeps distracting him. After sending Al, Kelly and the Darcys away, Bud thinks he finally has some alone time. However, Marcy's niece Amber arrives. Amber got into some trouble in California so her parents sent her to Marcy's to learn midwestern values. However, Amber has no interest in that. She has her eyes set on Bud and Bud is more than happy to entertain the attractive young lady.

This episode marks the first appearance of Harold Sylvester as Al's friend and coworker Griff.

Answer: She was breastfeeding

Al throws a nursing mother out of the shoe store and tells her it is inappropriate for her to breastfeed in his store. This draws the ire of Marcy and her women's group who stage a breastfeeding protest in the shoe store. Soon an all out battle of the sexes breaks out in Gary's Shoes.

This episode marks the first appearance of reporter Miranda Veracruz de la Jolla Cardinal (Teresa Parente) who was often sent to cover the bizarre happenings involving Al and Marcy.

Answer: Bud

In order to solve the issue of whether or not Al could have legally thrown the breastfeeding woman out of the shoe store from the previous episode, Al and Marcy decide to send Bud to check out the legal opinions. Bud is selected because he allegedly has no more loyalty to Al, his father, than to Marcy. Bud comes back and announces the law is with the breastfeeding woman and the protest ends.

This episode marks the first appearance of Janet Carroll as Gary, the owner of the shoe store. From here on out, Gary is a woman despite in previous episodes Gary was clearly mentioned to be a man.

Answer: Esther

Bud gets stuck volunteering for his college's Virgin Hotline, a phone service that attempts to talk students out of sex. His first assignment is to visit a girl named Esther who fears she is about to lose her virginity. Esther turns out to be very attractive and Bud is having a hard time not indulging in temptation.

Meanwhile, Al and Peggy go to the video store where they fight over which movie to rent.
