"MasterChef Junior (US)" - Season 7 Quiz

While Joe returned for the previous season of "MasterChef Junior" in 2018 and resumed his duty as the third judge on the regular (adult) "MasterChef"), he did not join the roster for this 2019 season of the show, instead opting to return to "MasterChef Italia" for its eighth season, filming at the same time.

This meant that this seventh season of "MasterChef Junior" shared the same roster as "MasterChef (US)" season eight before it. Christina would not rejoin the judging panel the following year.

Answer: Twenty-four

For the first time in "MasterChef Junior" since season 4, the home cooks selected to compete were not required to win a white apron through audition sessions. Past seasons of the show shared the traditional audition process (in which contestants faced off against other home cooks to with the apron) and last season did so down gender lines.

Instead, twenty-four pre-selected youngsters between the ages of 8 and 12 kicked off the season's first episode and eliminated in doubles as the season progressed.

Answer: Banana splits

The Top 22 headed into the MasterChef Kitchen in this episode to draw bananas with twelve of those featuring three different coloured stickers. Those who pulled stickers were put into teams of four and strapped together for a Skills Test while the other kids without stickered bananas were spared the challenges and the elimination for the day. Ultimately the Yellow Team made eight perfect sundaes with their legs tied together while the remaining kids faced off in an Elimination Challenge involving cooking live lobster into the dish of their choice. Thomas and Shannen were eliminated in this episode.

Answer: Circus performers

Leaving the MasterChef Kitchen for the first time, the Top 20 home cooks headed off to the circus where they needed to serve pan-seared salmon and New York strip steaks to fifty-one performers. The contestants were pre-split in this episode and Evie led her Blue Team (using steak) to victory. Participants from the Red Team returned to the kitchen for their Pressure Test and were given the instruction to create their very own birthday cake in ninety minutes. Ashley and Tal were sent home on the back of this one.

Answer: Matthew

For their second Skills Test, the kids were split into three teams of five to create the most perfect trifles they could in twenty minutes, taking up stations in their work areas and switching spots when they were told to. The kids were placed onto teams by random drawing while Matthew drew a gold coin, giving him the advantage of heading to the balcony for the day.

The Red Team won the challenge making thirty-one trifles in twenty minutes while the bottom teams went into an Elimination Test making a trio of sliders for the judges. Jayden and Nayeli were eliminated.

Answer: Cupcakes

Winning a Mystery Box Challenge involving duck, Evie was given the chance to pair up all remaining contestants to participate in a unique Elimination Challenge which would result in the winning duo getting a recipe published in the "MasterChef Junior Baking Cookbook". Jaala and Malia excelled with their orange cupcakes with vanilla-bean cinnamon frosting, but in fairness, all of the children performed well in the task.

As a result, no one was eliminated in this episode.

Answer: The Kidz Bop kids

The Top 12 were brought into the kitchen in episode 8 to face off against a new Mystery Box, but this time the ingredients therein were selected as favourite ingredients of the touring cast of Kidz Bop, who entered the kitchen for a dance and viewing.

After mixing ingredients like Oreos, apples, potato chips, berries, cheese, chicken, and yams the judges landed on Reid to win the challenge. He subsequently chose to have his competitors cook with canned tuna while he waited on the balcony, and that sent Kyle and Brielle home.

Answer: Tapas

After a corn-themed Mystery Box Challenge, Che was given the opportunity to select teams for this season's Tag Team Challenge, forcing the pairs to take on a complex platter of tapas dishes. Che picked Aaron while pairing up Reid and Ivy, Matthew and Jaala, and Sadie and Malia to make Spanish-inspired cuisine including beef empanadas with aioli, pan con tomate, shrimp and chorizo with garlic sauce, cheese croquettes, octopus, and churros. Jaala and Matthew were unable to work together cohesively and as such they were eliminated.

Answer: Three

As with most "MasterChef Junior" seasons, the judges had a tendency to eliminate competitors in pairs with two kids going home at the end of most episodes. This being said, this season had two non-elimination episodes, the first of which was episode 6 (in which the contestants worked in pairs and excelled in cupcake-baking) and the second of which was episode 9 (in which six of the home cooks were tasked with creating a trio of different eclairs to the judges' approval.

The third and final non-elimination round involved the restaurant takeover in episode 12.

Answer: Che

Across three meals, the final three home cooks made their way into a head-to-head-to-head battle in the MasterChef Kitchen to take home the $100,00 grand prize and the MasterChef Junior trophy for this year. As has been the standard for several seasons, the competitors made an appetizer, an entree, and a dessert, one after another in one hour sessions.

After each course, the dishes were presented to the three judges for critique. This season, Che won out over his competitors, joint runners-up Ivy and Malia.
