Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. There aren't too many revealing clues on this photo, but it marks the starting line of the race at Roy Thompson Hall in what Canadian city?

Answer: Toronto

To commence this seventh season of "The Amazing Race Canada", ten teams departed from Roy Thompson Hall in Downtown Toronto's Entertainment District, travelling not only through the city of Toronto completing their first slew of tasks, but inevitably flying to Kamloops, British Columbia to wrap up their first jaunt.

This season also saw the return of fan favourite team Jet and Dave (previously from "The Amazing Race Canada 1") who were voted back into the race by viewers. Unfortunately, they were also the first team to be eliminated this time around.
2. Most of Leg 2 in Revelstoke, British Columbia was held in the shadow of what Rocky Mountain peak?

Answer: Mount Mackenzie

In fact, the final phase of the Revelstoke leg of the race involved taking a chairlift up the side of Mount Mackenzie (at the Revelstoke Mountain Resort) and locating Jon on the Pit Stop mat further up the peak. This leg sent teams all the way across British Columbia, driving to the monument of the Last Spike on the Canadian transcontinental railroad line and doing all manner of outdoor activities in the Rocky Mountain wilderness.

By the end of this leg, however, only eight teams remained.
3. The High-Level Bridge Streetcar in Edmonton, Alberta (depicted), was the site of what newly-introduced race mechanic in Leg 3?

Answer: One-Way

A One-Way is a race mechanic placed before a Detour task which allowed a team to force a team behind them to complete a specific side of the Detour over the other. In the case of this item's first appearance, it was a Blind Double One-Way, meaning that two teams could use the board and do so anonymously. Both teams who used the board forced other teams to complete the subsequent 'Celebrate' Detour option.

There was only one of these One-Ways in the race, and for the first time in "Amazing Race Canada" history, no U-Turns or Double U-Turns.
4. During a Road Block task in Leg 4, team members needed to dive under which northern lake in outdoor temperatures of twenty below zero (Celsius)?

Answer: Great Slave Lake

Visiting late-winter Yellowknife in Leg 4, teams completed an assortment of tasks, most of which took place in the frigid outdoors of the Northwest Territories. In addition to needing to create an ice fishing hole in Great Slave Lake, team members also completed their second Road Block there. One member of each team was forced to complete this second task as their partners had been selected for an earlier diamond-themed Road Block. Because of this, Irina of Dave and Irina opted to use the Express Pass to skip the daunting challenge.
5. Teams ended Leg 5 in Coombs, British Columbia, right outside of Nanaimo. The building shown, home to the Pit Stop, is known for having which of these on its roof?

Answer: Goats

The Road Block found at the caves of Horne Lake Caves Provincial Park ultimately gave the largest clue about the fifth Road Block of the race located in the town of Coombs, British Columbia: the phrase 'Goats on Roofs'. This would lead teams to the Old Country Market, known for often having goats on its grass-covered roof.

This leg of the race, featuring four teams taking penalties, also featured a bungee jump, clam harvesting, and the movie "Dora and the Lost City of Gold".
6. The sixth leg of the race occurred in what city on the South Saskatchewan River?

Answer: Saskatoon

In Leg 6, teams flew from Nanaimo to Saskatoon, engaging in a series of tasks around the local industries and venues. All teams headed out to Corman Park's potash mines before completing a Detour involving either a large board maze or a country square dance.

In the end of the leg, they learned a bit of lacrosse before checking in at the Pit Stop at the Remai Modern Art Museum on the South Saskatchewan River. It ended up being the second non-elimination of the race, saving Trish and Amy for a second time in the race; they would be eliminated in Leg 7.
7. In Leg 8, teams took the train to Charlevoix, a region in which of these Canadian provinces?

Answer: Quebec

Teams departed from Kitchener-Waterloo in Ontario, taking the Via Rail train through Toronto, Montreal, and Quebec City en route to the unique Quebec region of Charlevoix for a foggy eighth leg of the race. There, in the only Francophone area of the race, teams faced a tough public speaking Road Block before competing in the race's only Blind Detour (a choice between 'This' and 'That'). Ultimately, teams checked in at the Pit Stop at La Musée Maritime de Charlevoix to discover that they would not be stopping; they received their next clue and headed back to Ontario.
8. The ninth leg of the race took teams to Thunder Bay to the Memorial Lookout named after which of these famous Canadians?

Answer: Terry Fox

Returning to Toronto in Leg 9, teams eventually shared a bus ride the better part of a day north to Thunder Bay, stopping the trip at the Terry Fox Memorial Lookout before a leg packed with a final Face Off and a limited-station Detour. The team landing on the Pit Stop mat in last place in this leg was Aarthy and Thinesh who, despite being frontrunners throughout the race, never recovered from being the last off the bus at the start of the leg.

They won three earlier legs of the race.
9. In Nova Scotia's Annapolis Valley, teams had the option of working with which of these locally-grown foods for their final Detour of the race?

Answer: Apples

The penultimate leg of the race flew teams to the Maritimes for a stop to the northwest of Halifax, Nova Scotia. Teams arriving there indulged in a Road Block taste test of local jams and jellies before splitting off into Detours themed around Paralympic hockey and apple orchards.

The final task of the leg involved memorizing the lyrics of a Nova Scotian song before checking in at a Gaspereau winery for the last Pit Stop. It was there that Dave and Irina, the strongest team to that point in the race, were eliminated after four earlier wins.

They fell behind on the 'Apple' Detour, improperly sorting their haul.
10. The final leg of the race, held in Ontario, included a task constructing a large version of which of these chairs named after the cottage getaway region featured?

Answer: Muskoka

The final three returned to Ontario and visited the forested cottage country a few hours north of Toronto to wrap up their eleventh and final leg. Anthony and James won the race here in the town of Port Sydney, but not before visiting the cranberry marshes of Bala, Santa's Village in Bracebridge, and the lakes of Rosseau and Port Carling. During one task, teams had to construct oversized Muskoka Chairs, also known to neighbours to the south as Adirondack Chairs and Quebecers as Laurentian Chairs.
