Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Leg 5 sent teams to which Middle Eastern country?

Answer: United Arab Emirates

It was off to Dubai at the start of Leg 5 as teams left the race's fourth Pit Stop and flew from Ho Chi Minh City and travelled more than four thousand five hundred miles west to the largest city of the United Arab Emirates. Upon their arrival, teams needed to take a taxi out to a party in the Al Faqa Desert. If they could find the supercars waiting for them there, they would be treated to tea and dates and their next clue.
2. The 'Fall' Detour task in Leg 5 required that teams go parachuting.

Answer: False

After racing back into Dubai and to a clue box waiting at the top of the Dubai Frame, teams collected information regarding their Detour and embarked on one of two choices. The first of these was 'Fall', and it required that teams make their way to the world's tallest building, the Burj Khalifa, and advance to the top floor. From there, teams would need to parachute to the bottom. What teams didn't know was that their experience would be done in virtual reality, and they would need to complete a series of virtual tasks and answer questions about their challenge to get their next clue. No actual jump would be taken. Colin and Christie, Leo and Jamal, Rachel and Elissa, and Tyler and Korey headed to this challenge.
3. Teams completing the 'Find' Detour task in Leg 5 dressed as which of these while they hunted for eggs?

Answer: Dinosaurs

Teams who didn't want to take the plunge in 'Fall' could instead visit the Dinosaur Park at Dubai Garden Glow for the 'Find' Detour option. In this, they would need to dress up in inflatable t-rex costumes and search the park for five differently-coloured illuminated eggs.

Then, carrying them through the largest dinosaur park in the world, they could return them to their designated nest to receive their next clue. Chris and Bret, Janelle and Britney, Nicole and Victor, and Becca and Floyd walked the dinosaur on this one.
4. The Leg 5 Road Block, taking place in a nightclub, had teams moving and grooving to a remixed version of the "Amazing Race" theme song.

Answer: True

Wrapping up their Detours, teams had to take a cab to Soho Garden, a Dubai bar and nightclub, to get their Road Block started. For this task, one member of each team needed to venture into the club to join a silent rave, searching through the people dancing inside for one dancing, specifically, to the music being spun by the DJ.

The catch was that all dancers would be wearing headphones, so team members would need to go by feel to get it done. Bret, Nicole, Christie, Floyd, Tyler, Janelle, Leo, and Rachel completed this task.
5. Which team was last to arrive at the Pit Stop in Leg 5, but spared by non-elimination?

Answer: Rachel and Elissa

Once teams finished their Road Block they could make their way to the last task of the leg by navigating their cabs to Amwaj Tower 4. There, they needed to find their way to the roof and, though it would mark the end of the leg, they would need to take the world's longest urban zipline over Dubai Marina to check in at the Pit Stop mat. Becca and Floyd checked in first, passing teams at the Road Block to take their second win of the race and $5,000 USD each. Rachel and Elissa, who switched Detour tasks, fell to the back of the pack but survived the leg since it was a non-elimination Pit Stop.
6. The sixth leg of the race sent teams to Uganda, specifically to what major city?

Answer: Kampala

With eight teams still in the race, the course diverted away from Dubai and sent competitors to the city of Kampala, Uganda, two thousand miles to the southwest. Upon landing, teams could take a cab to the Uganda National Mosque and dress in traditional garb to perform their first task, a challenge that sent them climbing the mosque's minaret counting the stairs inside. If they could count 272 total steps (correctly), they could get their next clue at the top.
7. In Leg 6, Road Block participants needed to work with a rolex in a Ugandan market. What would someone be able to do with their rolex?

Answer: Eat it

Teams continued racing to the Soweto Restaurant in Kampala's Owino Market for their Road Block clue, and for this one, team members had to serve up a rolex, an egg omelette. First, they needed to search the market and purchase the necessary ingredients, then they had to cook it to the approval of a local chef to get their next clue. Victor, Korey, Colin, Jamal, Chris, Floyd, Janelle, and Elissa completed this task.

Before the Road Block, Rachel and Elissa also contended with a Speed Bump in the market. For this, they had to wash and hang a load of laundry before joining the other teams.
8. Which team was one of the only ones to complete the 'Salty Roll' Detour task in Leg 6, working with fish in Uganda?

Answer: Rachel and Elissa

Rushing out from their Road Block, teams had to take their cabs to the Ggaba Landing Site at Lake Victoria. There, when they found the local boat builders, they would be able to choose between their Detour options-- 'Salty Roll' and 'Move the Pole'. 'Salty Roll' was only completed by Rachel and Elissa and Janelle and Britney and it required that they take a wheelbarrow filled to the brim with Nile perch, bring it to a workstation, and follow a process used to preserve and prepare their caught fish.

In 'Move the Pole', the six other teams used bikes to transport firewood through the village to stack high enough to receive their next clue.
9. In Uganda, teams completed a Head-to-Head challenge that involved working with which of these?

Answer: Drums

Wrapping up their Detour tasks, teams were told to head to the site of the race's sixth Pit Stop, but before they checked in they would need to beat another team at a Head-to-Head challenge. Arriving at the edge of Lake Victoria at Jahazi Pier, teams would battle it out in a Tower of Hanoi puzzle, attempting to move one drum at a time to rebuild the stacks presented to them quicker than the opposing team. If they succeeded they would be able to hit the mat; if they failed, they would need to wait for the next team to show up.
10. Which team was eliminated from the race at the end of Leg 6 in Uganda?

Answer: Janelle and Britney

Immediately after completing their Head-to-Head, teams walked down to the water's edge and stepped onto the mat on Jahazi Pier to check into the Pit Stop. There, Tyler and Korey claimed their first win of the race, continuing the "Amazing Race" teams' streak of taking the victory.

Their success won them a trip for two to Singapore, this time, courtesy of Travelocity. After struggling to sort out their Road Block task, Janelle and Britney were the last to arrive at the Head-to-Head and were kept back by Rachel and Elissa.

As a result, the "Big Brother" team was last to step on the mat and they were sent packing in eighth place.
