Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Teams flew to England at the start of Leg 11 and then proceeded to take which of the following further into England?

Answer: Helicopter

To start out their penultimate leg of the race, teams needed to depart from Kampen, take the train to Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam, and fly to London, England. Upon landing, teams could make their way to the Gatwick Aviation Museum and take a number to get in line for a helicopter ride that would take them to the British Coast.

After flying over the Seven Sisters and the White Cliffs of Dover, they would be dropped off at Dover Castle to be able to find their next clue box.
2. For their Road Block in England in Leg 11, team members needed to work with morse code.

Answer: False

When teams stepped foot on the lawns around Dover Castle they opened their Road Block clue and it sent Leo, Victor, Christie, and Korey into the tunnels beneath the structure to crack a military code. Using a recording of an old speech, they had to identify three key words that could be popped into their work which, when reorganized into alphabetical order by letter, would allow them to spell a secret and decoded message: "The Dunkirk evacuation has begun. We will never surrender." When they typed this up on a typewriter and provided the answer to the officer in charge, they could get their next clue and get back into their helicopters to London.

Their next clue would be at the Masthouse Terrace Pier on the Thames.
3. Which team was the only one to complete the 'Row' Detour in London in Leg 11?

Answer: Colin and Christie

Once teams reached Masthouse Terrace Pier they could take a speedboat down the Thames to the Savoy Pier and then proceed on foot to their next clue in the hands of the Golden Queen at Piccadilly Circus. This allowed teams to embark on one of two Detour tasks, 'Know' or 'Row'.

In 'Know', teams joined the Worshipful Company of Hackney Carriage Drivers and took a defined route through the confusing streets of London. If they could memorize the whole route without taking notes-- seven points of interest, fifteen streets, and all the turns taken-- then they could recite it to the cab master and get their next clue.

In 'Row', teams visited Hyde Park and hopped into a double scull to complete a 200m rowing race on The Serpentine in under sixty seconds. Only Colin and Christie finished this latter task; all other teams completed 'Know'.
4. At Camden Market, teams were almost able to check into the race's eleventh Pit Stop. First, they had to do which of these?

Answer: Recreate a display

After the Detour, teams were able to head directly to the race's final Pit Stop in the busy passages of Camden Market, but when they found Phil and the mat, teams were surprised by one last task before they could formally check in. For this, teams needed to recreate a provided mannequin display, but to do that they needed to search the shops of Camden Market for eight key items and return them to the Pit Stop to build their replication.
5. Which team was eliminated from the race in its penultimate leg?

Answer: Nicole and Victor

If teams finished the mad dash around Camden Market they would finally be able to get their placement for this second-to-last leg and, possibly, secure their spot in the finals. Leo and Jamal, who were eliminated on the eleventh leg in their previous two seasons ("The Amazing Race 23 and 24") found their redemption when they checked in first, taking their third victory of the race.

In a final footrace, Colin and Christie managed to finish the last task just before Nicole and Victor, knocking out the last "Big Brother" team and clinching an all-"Amazing Race" finale.
6. What was the race's final destination city?

Answer: Detroit

Leaving from Camden Market, the final three teams were told to cross the Atlantic and make their way to the city of Detroit, Michigan, the last city they would need to reach in their trip around the world. All three boarded the same flight and touched down for a sprint around the Motor City, heading out to collect their first clue in front of the Spirit of Detroit statue in the Downtown core.
7. For the race's final Road Block, team members performed a face-first rappel, but they would only collect their clue if they found which of these?

Answer: A safe combo

Teams reached their Road Block in Downtown Detroit and needed to choose one participant (each) to perform a harrowing face-first rappel 500 feet down the side of the art deco Guardian Building across the street from the Spirit of Detroit. On their way down, Leon, Tyler, and Korey needed to keep their eyes peeled for four numbers in the windows (07, 24, 17, 01) that they could use to open a bank vault located deeper in the building. If they could properly open the vault with the instructions provided, they could get their next clue.
8. To complete a task in the final leg of the race, teams needed to press how many vinyl records?

Answer: Five

Finishing the Road Block, teams had to take a cab to the Detroit-adjacent town of Hamtramck to find a designated fowling warehouse. There, they would have to play the bowling-football hybrid through two games, knocking down the pins to get their next clue.

This would direct them to Third Man Records back in Detroit where, if they could create five two-tone red and yellow vinyl records, they would be given their next clue and be allowed to keep racing.
9. For their final task, teams had to work with which of the following musical instruments?

Answer: Drums

One last task waited for teams after visiting Third Man Records as teams proceeded to Hart Plaza at the edge of Downtown Detroit and were greeted by dozens of musicians performing "Seven Nation Army" by local duo The White Stripes. Here, receiving a clue from one of the drummers, the teams needed to construct a full drum kit from scratch using all provided pieces to replicate the exacting details of an example set. If they could get everything in its right place, they could get their last clue.
10. Which team won "The Amazing Race 31"?

Answer: Colin and Christie

One final taxi ride separated teams from a million dollar prize when they finished their drum kits as they were told to head to the finish line at Detroit's historic Fort Wayne. Here, after a twenty-five thousand mile race around the globe, Colin and Christie succeeded where they couldn't in "The Amazing Race 5", fourteen years earlier.

The two became the official winners of this thirty-first race and the recipients of the million dollar grand prize. They were followed by Tyler and Korey in second and Leo and Jamal in third, both of which placed higher than in their previous races as well. Leo and Jamal, with this leg, also took the record for most legs completed by any team in the history of the show with thirty-four.
