To begin their third leg of the race, teams were given a clue envelope containing a phone which they could use to purchase tickets via the Travelocity mobile app. Their destination: the city of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Arriving in the evening, teams had to pick up a packet of herbal remedies from a doctor at the House of Vietnamese Medicine; it would be their next clue.

Answer: Leo and Jamal

Collecting their herbal remedies, teams also obtained their Detour options. In 'Reel It In', teams needed to make their way to Thanh Da Restaurant where, using rods, nets, and their hands, they needed to catch dinner the same way as locals do (at least at this particular restaurant), buy casting a line into a pool next to their seat. If they could collectively catch eight live prawns, they could trade them for their next clue. Tyler and Korey, Corinne and Eliza, and Chris and Bret were the teams who caught on.

Answer: A dance routine

Teams who wanted to work off their food could instead head to 'Light It Up' for the Detour in Leg 3, visiting the CREATV Company Film Studio to join the 218 Dance Crew in a costumed dance routine, onstage, to an original song. If they could master the steps in sync with the pros, teams could receive their next clue. Colin and Christie, Becca and Floyd, Rachel and Elissa, Janelle and Britney, Nicole and Victor, and Leo and Jamal all went to this task.

Answer: A karaoke parlor

Leaving their Detour, teams needed to take themselves through Ho Chi Minh City to Kingdom Karaoke to find their Road Block task. For this, one member of each team needed to join the popular local pastime by learning the lyrics to the Vietnamese song "That Bat Ngo" and, using the lyrics, perform in front of a crowded karaoke room. If they could perfect a verse of the track, then they would be presented with their final clue for the leg. Team members who completed this task included Floyd, Colin, Victor, Eliza, Tyler, Rachel, Janelle, Bret, and Leo.

Answer: Chris and Bret

Leg three ended after teams wrapped their karaoke Road Block task, but first they needed to make their way to Ho Thi Ky, a Flower Marker in Ho Chi Minh City. There, Becca and Floyd checked into the Pit Stop in first place, taking the win after placing second-to-last in Leg 2.

The pair won a trip for two to The Bahamas courtesy of Travelocity. The leg ended with "Survivor" pair Chris and Bret landing on the mat in last place, partly due to poor taxis and partly due to switching Detours. Fortunately, they weren't eliminated.

Answer: Snowballs

Teams left the third Pit Stop in the middle of the night (in the rain), departing from the flower market and being sent to the deep cold of SnowTown Saigon in Ho Chi Minh City. When the doors opened, teams had to collect a sled and slide down the indoor snow hill to collect their first clue (from a polar bear). Before they left this spot, however, Chris and Bret had to finish their Speed Bump, incurred for placing last in the previous non-elimination leg. For this, they simply needed to pack some snowballs-- enough to fill a cooler-- in the middle of a simulated indoor snowstorm and bring it with them to their next destination.

Answer: Scooter

The Road Block came after the winter wonderland. Teams made their way by taxi to College Transportation Central to find their solo venture and, for this task, they had to choose one member to 'drive themselves crazy'. For this, Jamal, Elissa, Victor, Eliza, Chris, Becca, Colin, Janelle, and Korey needed to learn how to ride one of the common Vietnamese motorbikes seen throughout Ho Chi Minh City. Once they earned a scooter license by completing a tough obstacle course (and without letting their feet touch the ground) they could keep on racing.

Answer: Boats

Wrapping their Road Block, teams headed to Binh Quoi Village for their Detour selection. Teams choosing 'Irritation' had to hop into circular Vietnamese basket boats and paddle their way two hundred yards down the village stream to collect a basket of fish.

The catch was that the stream would be crossed by bridges (which teams would need to heave their boats up and over) and they would have to dodge moving obstacles along the way. If they reached the end with their cargo, they'd get their next clue.

Answer: Leo and Jamal

If teams didn't choose to complete 'Irritation', they'd instead work at 'Irrigation'. For this challenge, teams needed to create an irrigation wheel on the river's edge, lashing bamboo to a water wheel to create a tool that could be used to water rice crops. If a farmer approved of their work and they had a functional wheel, they would be able to fill a bucket, get their next clue, and continue racing. Only Leo and Jamal and Rachel and Elissa were able to finish this task; everyone else did 'Irritation'.

Answer: Corinne and Eliza

After the Detour, teams needed to proceed to Phil on the mat in Tam Vu Park to check in at their fourth Pit Stop. Colin and Christie won their first leg of the race this time, claiming a trip for two to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic from Travelocity (who else?).

It was their first leg win in fifteen years, having won six legs of "The Amazing Race 5". Because they fell behind during the Road Block, Corinne and Eliza were last to hit the mat and they were eliminated, leaving only one "Survivor" team left in the competition.
