Beginning Leg 3 from the Gold Coast, teams needed to travel to the town of Winton, deep in the heart of Queensland, Australia's Outback. To accomplish this, the racers had to take a cab to the Airtrain, and then the Airtrain to Brisbane Airport where they could catch a flight to Longreach. After a traditional Welcome to Country upon landing in Longreach, teams were informed that due to the unexpected departure of Alex and Jack, Dwes and Katherine would be rejoining the race.

During this leg, Jaskirat and Anurag made use of their First Class Pass, skipping the tasks until re-entering the field in Leg 4. At the second Pit Stop they handed the Salvage Pass to Holly and Dolor, allowing them to jump the queue at any relevant challenges in Leg 3. They also handed the Sabotage Pass to last place team Jude and Shannon, the latter of whom was elected to be unable to speak during this third leg as a penalty.

Landing in Longreach, teams had to drive themselves into the town of Winton where they had to compete in a classic Aussie Dunny Derby to earn their next clue. For this task, the teams needed to pick a local and pull them around the racetrack in an open-front, mobile outhouse. During this time, one team member would need to race with a bedpan attached to a helmet on their head. Running around the course, they needed to fill the bedpan with liquid and dump it into a bucket waiting at the end of the circuit, and once that bucket was full to a marked line, they would be able to receive their next clue.

After the dunny races, teams needed to drive to Australian Age of Dinosaurs and complete an archaeological dig for thirty-three bone-shaped dinosaur puzzle pieces which they could use to create a 3D dinosaur model. If teams broke their pieces they would incur a ten minute time penalty at the Pit Stop (though only Malaan and Tina incurred this).

When teams completed the task they could make their way to Winton's Truck Museum to sign up for a departure time in the morning, at which point they would need to successfully fit two wheels on an Aussie road train. Start times commenced as early as 7:00am, and each started five minutes apart. Since Holly and Dolor had the Salvage Pass, they bumped themselves to the top of the queue.

Teams headed back to Longreach after the road train task and headed in the other direction to complete either 'Pick' or 'Polish' for their Detour. For both, teams visited Camden Station. In 'Pick', teams received three fleeces of wool at the sheep shearing shed and needed to clear them of detritus and dirt before bundling their pieces and rolling a bale out to a truck on the grounds.

In 'Polish', on the other hand, teams headed to the Longreach Solar Farm to clean forty-two solar panels in the fields. Shane and Deb, Brendon and Jackson, Ashleigh and Amanda, Dwes and Katherine, Skye-Blue and Jake, Malaan and Tina, and Jude and Shannon completed 'Pick' while Holly and Dolor, Jobelle and Rani, Chris and Aleisha, Sefa and Jessica, and Jordan and Violeta went for 'Polish'.

Finishing up with their Detour tasks, teams needed to end off the leg with a drive back into Longreach to find the third Pit Stop of the race at the Australian Stockman's Hall of Fame. Shane and Deb accomplished this first, winning themselves a SeaWorld Resort family holiday including access to all theme parks courtesy of Nickelodeon. Malaan and Tina arrived in eighth but incurred a ten minute penalty for breaking their dinosaur puzzle.

It dropped them to eleventh place and they narrowly made it onto the mat less than a minute before Jude and Shannon arrived in twelfth.

As such, the moms were eliminated from the race.

Teams flew from Longreach to Townsville to start the fourth leg of the race on Queensland's coast, and when they opened their clue late in the evening, they were instructed to make their way to Castle Hill Lookout and a Road Block task. For this, the selected team members needed to abseil down the side of the red granite monolith in the dark, heading one hundred metres down its face. Partway down, the selected teammates would need to clip their team photo to a board under either 'Brains' or 'Brawns', a choice which would have implications in a later leg. Deb, Jackson, Ashleigh, Dolor, Jobelle, Jessica, Aleisha, Skye-Blue, Dwes, Jaskirat, Violeta, and Tina completed this task.

Jaskirat and Anurag, who used the First Class Pass in Leg 3, were readded to the race in this Leg, taking their starting position (tenth to depart) from a blind draw.

Completing the Road Block, teams needed to descend Castle Hill and head to Townsville Airport to catch one of four flights leaving in the morning for Palm Island, home of the Manbarra People. After this twenty minute flight, teams visited the Story Tree for a traditional welcome ceremony and then raced off (via island shuttle) to Fred Clay Freedom Park.

Here, the men and women racing had to pick different coloured necklaces. The symbols found on these necklaces reflected Imbala dances they would need to learn and perform for locals to receive their next clue.

For teams' Detour in Leg 4, they could choose between being 'On Air' or 'On Time'. For 'On Air', teams needed to visit Bwgcolman Radio at the Palm Island PCYC. There, both team members needed to memorize and perfectly deliver an on-air advertisement in under twenty-five seconds to receive the next clue. Brendon and Jackson, Holly and Dolor, Chris and Aleisha, Jobelle and Rani, Sefa and Jessica, Malaan and Tina, and Jordan and Violeta completed this task.

In 'On Time', they would instead visit Sunset Snack Bar where they would make a pizza, cook it for fifteen minutes, and deliver it to the correct house in town (marked by a football flag). Shane and Deb, Ashleigh and Amanda, Skye-Blue and Jake, Dwes and Katherine, and Jaskirat and Anurag completed this task.

After the Detour, teams needed to make their way by island shuttle to the Palm Island Airport runway where teams encountered their first U-Turn of the race. Here the first team to arrive was required to use the board to send another team back to complete the alternate side of the Detour. Shane and Deb were burdened with the task and they used it on Holly and Dolor.

While Holly and Dolor went back to complete 'On Time', the rest of the teams were able to commence helping the Palm Island Airport cut the grass of its airstrip. Using tiny scissors, teams had to clear twenty meters-worth of poorly-tended weeds and trim the lawn as per a guide string.

Answer: Malaan and Tina

At the end of the leg, teams had to take the island shuttle to the Pit Stop at St Michael's Catholic Primary School and race to the mat. There, Brendon and Jackson edged ahead of leading couple Shane and Deb heading into the Pit Stop, winning the cowboys a magical island getaway to Orpheus Island Lodge off the Townsville coast. Dwes and Katherine took a ten minute penalty for hitchhiking instead of taking the island shuttle to the airport, and this dropped them from 9th to 10th place. Jordan and Violeta followed close behind to beat Malaan and Tina to the Pit Stop. This meant that the friends came in last and were eliminated.
