Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Visiting the Gordon Dam in Leg 17, teams had to drop which of these off the reservoir?

Answer: Basketball

Though teams ended Leg 18 aboard the Lady Nelson sailing vessel on the water in Hobart, they began Leg 17 in Southwest National Park, specifically on the edge of Lake Pedder Lookout. There, teams needed to drive themselves to Australia's highest reservoir, the Gordon Dam, where they were required to drop a basketball from 140 meters up and sink it into a net to get their next clue.

Although a Road Block did take place in this leg following this task, it remained unaired on the show.
2. Both Detour tasks in Leg 17 took place at the Westerway Raspberry Farm. Which team completed the 'Crush' task?

Answer: Brendon and Jackson

Completing the basketball challenge at Gordon Dam, teams opened a Detour clue leading them to the cold-weather farms in Westerway, deeper into Tasmania. Arriving at the Westerway Raspberry Farm, teams who chose to complete the 'Crush' task were required to suit up in protective gear and pack twenty boxes full with raspberry puree. Once they filled them with 10.5 kilograms of puree (and measured them) they could seal them up and place them on a skid for approval. If the supervisor deemed them properly-weighed, clean, and ready for sale, they could continue racing. Brendon and Jackson, MJ and Chelsea, and Chris and Aleisha completed this task.
3. Which foodstuffs did teams work with during the 'Crunch' Detour task in Leg 17?

Answer: Apples

Teams who did not complete the 'Crush' Detour task in Leg 17 needed to complete 'Crunch', sending them out into the dreary, cold weather to go apple-bobbing. One team member needed to get into a vat of freezing water and, without using their hands, find a single apple in their bucket of one hundred with a dyed black core. Both team members were unable to touch the apples with anything but their mouths, even if they fell onto the ground outside the basin. Ashleigh and Amanda, Skye-Blue and Jake, and Jaskirat and Anurag completed the task, all of them faster than those finishing 'Crush'.
4. For their Intersection in Leg 17, teams needed to pair up to share how many oysters?

Answer: One hundred

Finishing their Detour tasks, teams drove to the Bush Inn in New Norfolk, but for their final task of the leg, they needed to intersect with another team. Once they arrived at the oldest continuously-operating inn in Australia, they needed to dig in and collectively shuck and eat one hundred Tasmanian oysters. For this task, Ashleigh and Amanda paired with Skye-Blue and Jake, MJ and Chelsea went with Jaskirat and Anurag, and Brendon and Jackson were placed with Chris and Aleisha.

The latter two teams were expected to take penalty for leaving the task incomplete, partly due to Chris and Aleisha's veganism, but because they subsequently placed in the bottom two, making the penalty void.
5. Which team was first to arrive at the Pit Stop in New Norfolk at the end of Leg 17, winning the First Class Pass?

Answer: Ashleigh and Amanda

Finishing their oyster platter, the teams were sent off, unintersected, to the Willow Court Asylum in New Norfolk. When they arrived there, they could use a map to navigate their way through the dark, allegedly-haunted chambers and corridors of the building to find Beau at the Pit Stop at the asylum's barracks. Ashleigh and Amanda landed on the mat first, seconds ahead of Skye-Blue and Jake, and for that they won the First Class Pass, allowing them to give the Salvage Pass to Brendon and Jackson and the Sabotage Pass to Chris and Aleisha, the second-to-last team.
6. For the Sabotage in Leg 18, the selected team needed to don which of these for the duration of their time in Tasmania?

Answer: Balloon

Though teams checked into the seventeenth Pit Stop in New Norfolk, they were returned to Hobart at the start of Leg 18 to commence another leg of the race through Tasmania. To begin, teams ripped open their clues at the Wrest Point Hotel Casino (previously visited in Leg 16) and were told to head to the Ross Uniting Church in the town of Ross.

There, dressed as convicts and shackled together, they needed to transport ten sandstone bricks to the Ross Bridge. Because Brendon and Jackson received the Salvage Pass they were allowed to complete only half of each challenge requirement for the day, lessening their workload. Chris and Aleisha, meanwhile, received another Sabotage.

This time, they had to travel with balloons attached to them for the day. If they popped a balloon, they would need to return to a helium tank in their vehicle and fill a replacement to continue racing.
7. The Road Block encountered in Leg 18 allowed team members to get up close and personal with which of these animals?

Answer: Tasmanian devil

After the convict task, teams were handed their Road Block task. For this, all five racing teams headed one hundred thirty kilometers northwest to the town of Mole Creek in North Tasmania where they had to locate the Trowunna Wildlife Sanctuary. Here, the selected team member (based on the criteria of 'Who's a cheeky little devil?') needed to feed a group of Tasmanian devils in their enclosure, leading them through the space in a specific pattern while searching for their clue. MJ, Anurag, Jake, Jackson, and Aleisha completed this task.

The task was first-come-first-serve; only one person could be in the enclosure at a time.
8. In Tasmania, teams completed their Leg 18 Detour choice at a farm dedicated to which product?

Answer: Cheese

After completing their Road Block, teams drove off to the Ashgrove Cheese Farm in Elizabeth Town for either 'Small Cows' or 'Big Cheese', their Detour choices. In 'Small Cows', teams headed to the cowsheds and had to find the four cows with their eartags marked with black dots. If they found all four and recited the correct numbers associated, they'd get their clue.

In 'Big Cheese', teams had to guestimate and cut 7.4 kilograms of cheese then carry it to the top of the field to have it weighed. If they got it correct they would get their clue, otherwise they'd have to walk down and cut it again. MJ and Chelsea, Brendon and Jackson, and Chris and Aleisha went to 'Small Cows' while Jaskirat and Anurag and Skye-Blue and Jake did 'Big Cheese'.
9. Which team was U-Turned during Leg 18 and forced to complete both Detour options?

Answer: MJ and Chelsea

Following the Detour at Ashgrove Cheese Farm, teams faced a potentially game-changing decision that would come into effect for the first team to finish the challenge. The leading team, which ended up being Jaskirat and Anurag, raced to the exit gate of the farm to hit the elusive U-Turn board first. For their mandatory decision, they elected to U-Turn their biggest competitors, MJ and Chelsea.

As such, MJ and Chelsea, who completed 'Small Cows', also had to return to the farm to complete 'Big Cheese'.
10. Which team was last to arrive at the race's eighteenth Pit Stop?

Answer: MJ and Chelsea

To end of the leg, teams needed to drive themselves east to Launceston, the second-largest city on the island of Tasmania, where they had to reach Beau at the eighteenth Pit Stop of the race at the Duck Reach Power Station in Cataract Gorge. Jaskirat and Anurag maintained their lead heading out from the Detour and landed on the mat in first place, winning them a trip to the Shangri-La Cairns courtesy of 10 Travlr. MJ and Chelsea, marred by the U-Turn and bad directions heading to the Pit Stop, were last to hit the Pit Stop.

It meant that they were eliminated from the race in sixth place, leaving zero Stowaway Teams in the competition.
