Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Leg 15 of the race took teams to what major Australian city?

Answer: Brisbane

Starting Leg 15 in the coastal town of Palmwoods, teams continued through the Sunshine Coast to Brisbane, but first, leaving from Palmwoods Memorial Hall, teams had to walk to Rick's Garage and find a marked driver to take them, in a classic car, to their next destination. The ride took teams to Musgrave Park in South Brisbane where teams found their next clue hanging from one of the trees there. Teams did not need to navigate to this destination but could, instead, enjoy the ride.

Stan and Wayne, who were given the Salvage Pass, were given a Sherpa for the day while Chris and Aleisha given the Sabotage Pass, were forced to be the Sherpas, carrying Stan and Wayne's packs for the leg.
2. Which was the only team to complete the 'Cheery' cheerleading Detour task in Leg 15?

Answer: Chris and Aleisha

Arriving in Brisbane, teams got their Detour clue and had to choose between two coordination tasks. In 'Cheery', teams stayed in Musgrave Park to join the Brisbane All-Star Cheerleading team. If they could learn a routine with the squad and perform it to perfection they could get their next clue.

In 'Paniyiri', however, teams headed to the nearby Greek Club to learn a traditional Greek dance, a very different style. Only Chris and Aleisha completed the cheerleading task (due to Aleisha's background teaching dancing); all other teams learned the Greek dance.
3. In Leg 15, teams were able to make and eat a meal at which fast food restaurant?

Answer: Subway

Dancing would have given the teams a bit of a hungry streak, so their next clue sent them to Brisbane's city centre to find a Subway restaurant on Queen Street. There, one team member needed to make a Subway sandwich for their partner who, blindfolded, would need to eat the creation and guess the ten ingredients on the finished sub to be able to grab the next clue.

Although not depicted in the episode, teams were instructed to complete an intermediate task in Spring Hill, washing clothes. Instead, the teams were shown heading deeper into the city centre.
4. How many rooms did teams need to visit at the Ibis Styles Hotel (at which they had to turn on all the lights) in Leg 15?

Answer: Fourteen

As the sun set in Brisbane, teams needed to head to the Ibis Hotel. There, both team members were given a chart of rooms and a pile of keycards and the goal was to turn the room lights on in each of the fourteen they were required to visit. Teams headed up to the top floor (the 26th) via elevator but had to work their way down to all subsequent rooms by the stairs which meant that any mistakes could only be remedied on foot.

When all of the lights were on, the facade of the building would show a smiley face, but in the meantime, teams who completed the task could get their Pit Stop clue.
5. Which team was eliminated in Brisbane in Leg 15?

Answer: Stan and Wayne

After contributing to the light mural at the Ibis Styles Hotel, teams were told to make their way to the Story Bridge, one of Brisbane's most distinguishable landmarks, where they could suit up and head to its top via the Adventure Climb to find Beau and the fifteenth Pit Stop of the race. MJ and Chelsea led the pack leading out of the Detour in this leg and they ascended to the win this time, winning an all-expenses-paid trip on the Ghan. Stan and Wayne, who departed last in this leg, were unable to catch up despite their Salvage Pass.

They checked in last for the third leg in a row and were eliminated from the race in eighth place.
6. In Leg 16, the final seven teams raced to what destination, never before visited in any "Amazing Race"?

Answer: Tasmania

Teams left Brisbane in the order they arrived at the fifteenth Pit Stop, opening their clues in Queens Gardens and then heading to Brisbane Airport to catch a flight to Tasmania. The seven remaining teams were sent into Hobart for their first task there at the Wrest Point Hotel and Casino. Upon arrival, teams needed to pay homage to the retro era of the building's opening by donning era-appropriate attire and building a five-storey-tall house of cards. If they could construct one with all of their cards (three decks) and without it falling over, they could get their next clue directing them to head to the roof where they could strap into a bosun's chair and head down the side of the building (nineteen storeys), washing windows along the way, to grab their next clue.
7. Which team completed the Fast Forward found in Leg 16?

Answer: Skye-Blue and Jake

For the first time in the race (after fifteen legs!), teams were given the opportunity to claim a Fast Forward, a task which could only be completed by one team (first-come-first-serve) and which would allow them to skip all tasks in a leg and go directly to the next Pit Stop. For this task, teams had to travel to Long Beach in the Sandy Bay region.

There, they had to reenact the city's famous midwinter solstice nude swim by stripping down and swimming out to a pontoon in the bay. Skye-Blue and Jake completed the task without hesitation and were allowed to head directly to the next Pit Stop.
8. For the Road Block, teams had to count the steps in a tower used for what original purpose?

Answer: Making ammunition

Teams finishing the window washing task were given their Road Block clue, and this one asked for the team members who were 'a good shot'. For this task, teams had to head to the Shot Tower in the town of Taroona. There, the selected teammate needed to correctly count the number of stairs from the very bottom to the top of the tower (a total of three hundred and eighteen steps). If they got the number correct they could drop a shot down the tower and get their next clue. Chris, MJ, Amanda, Anurag, Dolor, and Jackson completed this task.
9. Which team was the only one to reconstruct a whiskey barrel in the 'Spirits' Detour in Leg 16?

Answer: Chris and Aleisha

Completing the Road Block, teams had only to finish up a Detour. This time, the choice was 'Sweets' and 'Spirits'. In 'Sweets', teams traveled to Coal River Farm in Cambridge were teams had to lick through a chocolate art piece to reveal the name of their next destination inside (it would lead them to Chilli's house, a goat pen on the farm, where they could get their next clue).

In 'Spirits', they headed to the Tasmanian Cask Company in Bridgewater to build a functioning whiskey barrel. When the cooper approved they would get their next clue.

This latter task was done by Chris and Aleisha; MJ and Chelsea, Ashleigh and Amanda, Jaskirat and Anurag, Holly and Dolor, and Brendon and Jackson did 'Sweets'.
10. Which team was the last to board the Lady Nelson and check in at the race's 16th Pit Stop?

Answer: Holly and Dolor

At the end of this leg, teams had to head to Purdon & Featherstone Reserve and from there, they needed to pick up a kayak and paddle to their sixteenth Pit Stop, the Lady Nelson, a ship waiting on the River Derwent. Skye-Blue and Jake snagged the Fast Forward and were, thus, easily able to claim the win, winning $5,000 cash (each) and Subway subs for a year. Holly and Dolor trailed during the leg and were overtaken by Brendon and Jackson at the end of the Detour.

When they checked in on the Lady Nelson, the were surprised to find themselves eliminated in seventh place, leaving only six teams in the running.
