Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Teams returned to Toronto in Leg 7, collecting tickets for which of these, taking them to Belleville the following morning?

Answer: Train

Racing directly out of the sixth Pit Stop of the race at the Western University Alumni Stadium in London, Ontario, teams ripped open clues telling them that there would be a double elimination Pit Stop to come. But first, they needed to find their way to Belleville and Prince Edward County, eastward along the shores of Lake Ontario. To do this, they had to take a bus from Springbank Park and reach Downtown Toronto. Once there, they could travel on foot through the Financial District, find a person in a red hat, and grab one of two ticket times arriving fifteen minutes apart the following morning.
2. Arriving in Belleville, teams had to go house-hunting for their Leg 7 Road Block, identifying which of these?

Answer: Birdhouses

As soon as teams arrived in Belleville, they disembarked at the Via Rail station and opened a clue containing their Road Block task for this leg of the race, and this time, the selected team member needed to go house-hunting. Visiting Birdhouse City in the Macaulay Mountain Conservation Area, the selected team member needed to identify the names of fourteen birdhouses found in a marked area and mark them on a crude map. If they got all of them correct, they could keep racing. Catherine, Ali, Nella, Jahmeek, Tychon, Jesse, Connor, and Beverley completed this task.
3. Which team was forced to wait behind at the Pass mechanic seen in Leg 7?

Answer: Beverley and Veronica

Leaving the Road Block, teams drove themselves through Prince Edward County to Prince Eddy's Brewing Company in Picton for the race's first-ever encounter with the Pass mechanic. With this, a team could force another team still behind them to wait at that particular race mechanic until the proceeding team showed up. Once the proceeding team passed them, the chosen team could continue racing. Franca and Nella used this board to hold back Beverley and Veronica while Court and Ali used theirs on Franca and Nella (as a strategic move). Because the latter team had already gone by only Beverley and Veronica were affected by the Pass.
4. The 'Press It' Detour task in Leg 7 allowed teams to use which of these items to get their next clue?

Answer: Printing press

Leaving Prince Eddy's Brewing Company, teams embarked on one of two challenges for their Detour, specifically 'Press It' or 'Push It'. In 'Press It', teams visited Spark Box Studio to use a printing press, placing every letter key in reverse in their machine and printing a paragraph about Prince Edward County when they got it all lined up.

In 'Push It', however, teams visited the shop of Savon Du Bois where one team member hopped into a bathtub and recited instructions as to how to make perfect bath bombs.

Their partner, however, had to make fifteen of them and place them into the bathtub before they got their next clue.
5. Two teams were eliminated at the end of Leg 7 in Prince Edward County, but which was the last to hit the Pit Stop mat?

Answer: Cassie and Jahmeek

Before heading to the Pit Stop, teams had to visit the Sir James Whitney School for the Deaf for one last task in which they had to learn American Sign Language. While one teammate learned the name of the school's first deaf professor, the other learned the letters of the ASL manual alphabet to be able to understand the name in full. If they could identify the man-- Samuel Greene-- they could drive themselves to the beaches at Sandbanks Provincial Park and check in at the seventh Pit Stop of the race. In order to bypass the sign language task entirely, Franca and Nella and Brendan and Connor both utilized their Express Passes.

At the Pit Stop, while Jesse and Marika won this leg of the race (their second of the competition), claiming a $2,500 gift card from Marshall's and a trip for two to Geneva, Switzerland, two teams ended up getting the chop in a double elimination. Cedric and Tychon and Cassie and Jahmeek ended up placing seventh and eighth on this leg, respectively, and both ended up eliminated as a result.
6. At the start of Leg 8, the six remaining teams took a train northward to which city?

Answer: Ottawa

Leaving Sandbank Provincial Park midday at the start of Leg 8, teams were told to drive to the train station and catch a ride to the capital city of Canada: Ottawa, Ontario. When they arrived, they would collect their next clue from behind the driver's seat of a 2022 Chevrolet Bolt EUV, which they could use to drive to the Canadian Museum of History in Gatineau, across the Ottawa River. Outside, they could use a smartphone to book tickets to the museum via the Expedia app and, the following morning, recommence the race.

Inside, teams had to locate the Canadian stamp collection and, receiving thirteen example stamps, they had to search over three thousand samples for the individual costs of those they were looking for to get their next clue.
7. Team members completing the Road Block in Leg 8 hopped into a vintage biplane to search the region for what letter marked in an open field?

Answer: M

Heading out from the Canadian Museum of History, teams ripped open their Road Block clues for this leg of the race and chose a team member to be 'put on the spot'. In this Road Block, the selected teammate went for the ride of a lifetime in a vintage biplane, by locating a de Havilland Canada DHC-2 Beaver on the Canada Aviation and Space Museum grounds in Ottawa, grabbing a ticket, and heading into the skies. Once in the air, the chosen teammate had to spot a forty-foot-tall letter M to land and continue racing. Nella, Marika, Veronica, Catherine, Ali, and Brendan completed this task.

When the Road Block was completed, teams had to take the ferry back over to Gatineau and, using their onboard GPS, navigate to Montebello, Quebec.
8. Leg 8 saw the season's first Face Off. In Montebello, what game did teams need to play for this challenge?

Answer: Croquet

Driving into the village of Montebello, teams had to find the Château Montebello and get in line to compete in their first Face Off task wherein they needed to compete head-to-head with only the winner being able to proceed. For this one, they had to dress in fancy garb and participate in a game of croquet.

The first team to hit two balls through all the provided wickets in play and in the proper order before hitting the final peg at the end would get their next clue while the losing team would have to play again.

The remaining team, at the end of all the Face Offs, was Brendan and Connor; they had to flip over an hourglass and wait out their time (fifteen minutes) to keep racing.
9. Who, according to the murder mystery teams encountered in Leg 8, was the last to be seen at the scene of the crime?

Answer: The chef

When teams finished their Face Off they were given one last task to accomplish before racing to the Pit Stop, and it involved racing around the village of Montebello on the hunt for the clues and solution to a murder mystery. Speaking to six different 'witnesses', all of whom would give clues in Québécois French, teams had to determine who was the last person at the scene of the crime to get their next clue envelope from their inspector waiting at Le Petit Château B&B. If they could get the right solution, the chef, they could head to the Pit Stop.
10. Which team was last to arrive at the race's eighth Pit Stop (found in Quebec)?

Answer: Brendan and Connor

If teams could solve the Montebello murder mystery then they could make their way to Jon and their eighth Pit Stop in the nearby village. Proceeding on foot to the Manoir Papineau, it was Jesse and Marika, this time taking a third win (and their second in a row). For ensuring they arrived before the other teams, the pair nabbed themselves a trip for two to Istanbul, Turkey and a $2,000 Marshall's gift card.

The last team to check in this time, Brendan and Connor, were fortunately saved by the race's last non-elimination Pit Stop.

This meant that they would also need to complete a Speed Bump in the subsequent leg.
