Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In Leg 3, teams used bikes to deliver which of these through the village of Waterton?

Answer: Hot dogs

Racing immediately upon arriving at their second Pit Stop mat in Waterton Lakes National Park, teams ripped open clues telling them to drive themselves to the nearby Waterton Village. Once there, they could find a clue box at Pat's, a gas station in the village, and a series of side-by-side bikes. For this challenge, teams needed to pedal around the village of Waterton delivering specific hot dog orders memorized from a provided list. If the food could get to their proper destinations, they could get their next clue.
2. Teams raced off to what B.C. town in Leg 3?

Answer: Fernie

Once teams handed in their delivery receipts they were told to drive onward to the grain elevator waiting at Pincher Station where they could sign up for one of two buses headed to the city of Sparwood, British Columbia. Four teams would be on the first flight and the second bus, leaving fifteen minutes later, would contain the remaining pairs.

In addition, teams would receive a phone after signing up for their bus, and using the Expedia app, they could book their accommodations for the evening.

In Sparwood, they could hop into their provided 2022 Chevrolet Traverse LT and drive to Fernie.
3. The 'Learning to Fly' Detour task, encountered in Leg 3, involved which of these?

Answer: Fishing flies

Heading off to Fernie, teams had to select a Detour option. Teams choosing 'Learning to Fly' (including Jesse and Marika, Cassie and Jahmeek, Court and Ali, and Catherine and Craig) had to listen to an old fishing story at a local fly shop and then race on foot to the Elk River where, using their memory, they needed to place twenty specifically-named fishing flies in the correct order to get their next clue. Teams opting for 'Ready to Roll' (including Franca and Nella, Brendan and Connor, Beverley and Veronica, Dennis and Durrell, and Cedric and Tychon) assembled an entire bike from scratch at GearHub Sports using nothing more than a completed reference. Once their bike could go for a ride they could keep racing.
4. Who did not complete the aerobics-themed Road Block encountered at the end of Leg 3?

Answer: Catherine

For their final task of Leg 3, teams proceeded to 2nd Avenue in Fernie where they had to select one team member to wear vibrant '80s aerobics gear, join an instructor, and learn a full workout routine. If they could complete the complex choreography, they would get their next clue and be able to depart. Connor, Jesse, Ali, Craig, Veronica, Tychon, Dennis, Nella, and Jahmeek completed this task.
5. Which team was eliminated at the race's third Pit Stop, found in B.C.?

Answer: Cassie and Jahmeek

If teams could work out to the '80s and make it through their blast from the past, they could get a clue and hop in their Chevrolet vehicles to make their way to the race's third Pit Stop, the scenic fourth hole at Fernie Golf & Country Club. Though Catherine and Craig came in on the second bus, they excelled in the Road Block enough to get ahead and place first in this leg.

The pair won a trip for two to Bangkok, Thailand as well as a $2,000 gift card to Marshall's. Having switched Detour tasks upon arriving in Fernie, Cassie and Jahmeek were unable to make up for lost time and they were eliminated in ninth place.
6. At the start of Leg 4, how many teams were removed from the race due to COVID-19?

Answer: Three

With "The Amazing Race Canada 8" being filmed in early 2022, the show proceeded with protocol in place to minimize transmission, where possible, of COVID-19, the macro effects of which prevented the show from filming and airing in 2020 and 2021. Upon arriving at the race's third Pit Stop in Fernie, British Columbia, three teams (Dennis and Durrell, Court and Ali, and Leg 3 winners Catherine and Craig) tested positive for COVID and were, as such, unable to continue racing due to the inherent risks involved. None of these teams continued into the fourth leg.
7. The two eliminated teams were given a chance to return to the race in Leg 4, but first they had to complete which of these?

Answer: Speed Bump

In light of the unexpected turn of events seeing three teams removed from the race, both Jully and Kathy (eliminated in Leg 1) and Cassie and Jahmeek (eliminated in Leg 3) were given the opportunity to return to compete with the other teams. All teams started Leg 4 leaving Fernie Golf Course and made their way to Fernie City Hall to sign up for one of two charter buses to Canmore in Kananaskis Country, Alberta.

There, at Canoe Meadows, teams had to ride whitewater canoes three kilometres down the Kananaskis River.

The two returning teams had to inflate their canoes, as a Speed Bump, before performing this task.
8. In Canmore (in Leg 4), teams completing the first Road Block needed to create a knot used customarily in which field?

Answer: Horseriding

After proceeding on foot along the Kananaskis River to the Star 6 Ranch, teams located a Road Block task outside the property's red barn. For this challenge, the selected team member was required to master a tough knot, the diamond hitch, securing packs to a simulated horse using a provided demonstration as their only hint. If they could properly complete the knot, they would get their next clue. Brendan, Jesse, Beverley, Franca, Cassie, Kathy, and Tychon completed this task.

When completed, teams could hop in an all-new 2022 Chevrolet Traverse RS and drive to the Bow River on the Trans Canada Trail.
9. A second Road Block was found by teams in Leg 4, requiring team members ride which of these in Canmore?

Answer: Adaptive eBikes

At the Bow River, teams needed to complete a slide puzzle featuring a snapshot from a picturesque location on the Trans-Canada Trail to get their next clue, a second Road Block, which meant that the racer who did not complete the rope-tying challenge had to participate.

As such, Connor, Marika, Nella, Cedric, Jully, Veronica, and Jahmeek needed to suit up and strap into adaptive eBikes to ride along a slalom course at the Canmore Nordic Centre. If they could complete the track in under a minute and forty-five seconds, they could continue racing.
10. Which team was last to arrive at the race's fourth Pit Stop (in Canmore)?

Answer: Cassie and Jahmeek

Completion of the second Road Block in Canmore meant that teams could search for the race's fourth Pit Stop on the grounds of the Biathlon Range at the Canmore Nordic Centre. Brendan and Connor were the first team to arrive, having led the entirety of Leg 4 (departing the previous Pit Stop in what became first place), and they won both a trip for two to Buenos Aires, Argentina and a $1,500 gift card to Marshall's.

It was their second win of the race. This leg of the race was ultimately lost by Cassie and Jahmeek who failed to rise from the back of the pack with their initial disadvantage.

They were fortunate to hit a non-elimination leg this time around.
