In season 3, episode 4, "Killer Within," the group is under attack by walkers and divided when Lori goes into labor. Locked in the boiler room, Maggie uses a knife to perform an emergency C-section on Lori, who dies as a result. Carl, who is present at the time, is forced to shoot his mother in the head so that she won't turn into a walker.

The baby is named Judith after Carl's third grade teacher, and Maggie and Daryl rush to get her formula.

The premiere episode of season 10 opens with a fire being set by a satellite that falls from the sky. In season 10, episode 2, "We Are the End of the World," Alpha, to Beta's chagrin, spares a woman who has endangered their group by crying over her lost baby. Alpha herself is experiencing pains of loss over Lydia.

The spared, despondent mother, however, attacks Alpha while the Whispers are walking with a walker herd. The woman's sister saves Alpha and throws her sister into some walkers to be consumed by them. For this act of bravery and loyalty, she is anointed Gamma by Alpha, which seems to ignite some jealousy in Beta.

Dr. Jenner initially refuses to open the door and let them go, and Daryl tries to break through it with an axe. Shane eventually holds a gun to Jenner's head. Jenner opens the door, but Jacqui chooses to stay behind and die with Jenner. The first season had only six episodes, and this scene of escaping the CDC occurred in the season finale, "TS-19."

After the collapse of the prison and the kidnapping of Beth, Daryl falls in with a rough group called the Claimers, led by Joe. Rick, Michonne, and Carl survive together by scavenging. Rick shoots one of the Claimers while they're in a house. The group goes looking for Rick, but Daryl doesn't know it's Rick they're searching for.

When the Claimers catch up with Rick in the finale of season 4 ("A"), Daryl offers to take their place as a sacrifice, but Joe and his men are having none of it. They threaten to abuse Carl and Michonne, and Daryl and Rick fight back.

In the process, Rick bites out Joe's throat to save Carl. After this tumultuous occurrence, Daryl feels guilty for falling in with the group, and Rick calls Daryl his "brother." They move on together toward Terminus, where they give up their weapons, are offered food, but are then herded into a boxcar.

Answer: Season 2

Glenn learns the barn is full of walkers when he plans a rendezvous with Maggie there. He tells the others, and Rick, Shane, Daryl, Andrea, and Glenn decide to open the barn and shoot the walkers. They shoot them as they emerge. When the last one stumbles into the light, it turns out to be Sophia. Carol, seeing her, cries and tries to run to her, but Daryl holds her back as she breaks down. Rick is the one to shoot Sophia in the head.

This scene occurs in Season 2, episode 8, "Pretty Much Dead Already." The brother of the actress who plays Sophia later plays Carol's adopted son Henry.

Answer: Season 6

These events occur in the season 6 finale, "Last Day on Earth." Meanwhile, many other members of Rick's group have been captured by the Saviors and set on their knees before Negan, who has determined to kill one of them as punishment for their noncooperation.

He plays eenie-meanie-miney-mo with his bat until it lands on one unseen person, whom he begins to bludgeon to death just as the season ends. It is not until the premiere of the next season that the audience learns who was killed.

Answer: Season 8

In season 8, episode 16, "Wrath," Rick's group and its allies confront the Saviors in a battle. But because Eugene has improperly loaded the ammunition of the Saviors, their guns backfire. Rick fights with Negan and cuts him, but instead of letting him die, he has Siddiq treat the man and takes him prisoner. Maggie is angered by his decision.

Answer: Season 5

After they escape Terminus, and search for Beth only to have her killed, the group moves on. Aaron approaches them and recruits them to come to Alexandria. In season 5, episode 11, "The Distance," Aaron leads them to the gates of Alexandria. In the next episode, after handing over their weapons, they meet with its leader, Deanna Monroe.

In season 7, episode 15, "Something They Need," Tara takes the group to Oceanside, despite her promise not to tell anyone about the hidden community. Rick's group tries to convince them to join the fight against the Saviors. They refuse, but they do give up their guns.

Answer: Season 9

In season 9, episode 9, "Adaptation," Lydia is taken captive and imprisoned at the Hilltop. Daryl, unbeknownst to Henry, uses the young man to gain information from Lydia and sits outside the window listening to their conversations in their cells. Daryl relates to the teenage girl because they were both abused as children. Lydia is handed over to her mother, but Henry pursues her. Lydia eventually ends up being taken into the group. Daryl takes her under his wing, like an adopted daughter, and brings her to Alexandria with him at the end of season nine.

Others, however, regard her with suspicion as a former member of The Whisperers.
