Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What do Dixie and Kiddy need to reach Cotton-Top Cove?

Answer: Hovercraft

To get to Cotton-Top Cove, the Kongs have to cross a very rocky part of the water, forcing them to abandon their motor boat at Funky's Rentals and trade it in for a Hovercraft, obviously the next step up on the ladder. The only way to do this, however, is by beating the previous two stages, Lake Orangatanga and Kremwood Forest, at the end of which (upon defeating the boss battle against Arich in the latter stage) they'll receive the missing piece of the puzzle: a patch.
2. Blue Bear will give the Kongs which of these as a re-gift?

Answer: Bowling Ball

Blue's Beach Hut is actually found at the very start of Cotton-Top Cove, and while the area is quite bright and cheery, Blue is seemingly depressed. Disappointed that no one remembered his birthday, the Kongs need to visit Blizzard in the K3 stage of the game to receive a present.

The present, a Bowling Ball, is inevitably given to the Kongs and it can be traded even further in Mekanos to open a secret cave.
3. A Banana Bird can be found in Cotton-Top Cove before you even enter a level.

Answer: True

If you dive into the water in the stage overview map and head to the cliff wall next to the waterfall, it'll burst open, revealing Bounty Bay. Here, like in other caves found around the world, the Kongs need to press the buttons associated with the coloured crystals to break the Banana Bird out of its crystalline prison. If you've hit every other one up to this point, you'll notice they're getting more difficult; this one needs six crystals in a row to be obtained.
4. What's true about the Bazza's Blockade level?

Answer: It's the first underwater level of the game

As soon as the Kongs hop into the water, they'll find Bazza's Blockade, the first wholly underwater level out there. Bazzas are barracuda enemies which don't appear anywhere else in the game. Shooting through chutes at different ends of the narrow, coral tunnels throughout the level, Bazzas only move in a straight line (though their chutes can be stacked on top of one another), making navigation all on the Kongs. Alternatively, you could always find and use Enguarde to plow through.
5. In Rocket Barrel Ride, which is the only direction a Rocket Barrel will travel?

Answer: Up

This stage, the first along the cliffs of Cotton-Top Cove, takes the Kongs up along the rock walls around the bay...via Rocket Barrels. These unique barrels direct the Kongs straight upwards, shooting them when they reach the top of their rides, like it or not. Sometimes this means shooting right next to enemies, but clever timing will get you out of the way.

The episode is also one of the many levels featuring Parry the Parallel Bird.
6. In the stage's third level, Kreeping Klasps, what happens when you touch one of the Klasps?

Answer: They explode

This level, which takes the Kongs to the docks atop Cotton-Top Cove's cliffs, pits them against one hungry fish swimming in the waters below and several enemies hanging on the lines above. Klasps are Kremlings found in TNT Barrels which, when hit, will end up exploding, taking themselves out while taking out the Kongs. Klasps will return in later levels of the game, likely when you least need them to.
7. Can the player control the barrels in Tracker Barrel Trek directly using the directional pad?

Answer: No

The Tracker Barrels, which only move on a horizontal axis, will follow along the Kongs as they, once again, make their way up along the cliffsides in Cotton-Top Cove. If they make their way into one of these barrels, the trick will involve trusting in the barrel; if you lean to the left, the barrel will end up right underneath.

Some of the more difficult parts of this level will involve avoiding moving enemies while you shoot and maneuver around them. Like the Rocket Barrels earlier in the stage, the Kongs have no control over the spontaneous shots in Tracker Barrels.
8. In Fish Food Frenzy, which of these don't you necessarily want to feed to the Nibbla behind you?

Answer: Lurchins

In Fish Food Frenzy, the game's second coral-based level (and the second in Cotton-Top Cove), Dixie and Kiddy are followed by a hungry Nibbla who, if they don't feed it, will attack them. You can tell when the Nibbla is getting angrier because it starts getting paler. Fortunately there's a way to get through unscathed; if you feed the Nibbla some of the red and green fish around the level, it should satisfy it for a short time.

The spiky Lurchins, however, will cause the Nibbla to get angrier faster, so avoiding them is key.
9. As what animal companion do you fight Squirt, the boss of Cotton-Top Cove?

Answer: Ellie

This third boss battle of the game, Squirt's Showdown, takes you to a waterfall in the cliffs of Cotton-Top Cove for a one-on-one battle, elephant vs. rock slug. To win the battle you need to hit Squirt's weak point, his eyes, enough times to reveal the boss' mouth. All of these hits must be done with Ellie's water-shot attack.

In between rounds, Ellie will also need to avoid streams of water shot from Squirt's mouth, pushing her off the stage. Three hits to the mouth and Squirt will concede.
10. If you complete this stage of the game third, does it mean that you receive a new vehicle from Funky Kong after battling the boss?

Answer: No

If you think so, perhaps your expectations are high-- you would've received the patch to make the Hovercraft at the end of the game's second stage, Kremwood Forest. To get the next vehicle, the Jet Skis, you need both skis, only one of which you'll end up receiving after defeating the third boss, Squirt. Following this battle the area should be complete (unless you have to return to find some secrets or perform some trades. You can get the other ski from Mekanos.
