Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Hollow Shell
Answer: Killer
The Hollow Shell is Killer-only, and this might be a given considering the general inexplicability of what it is-- a literal cocoon of some sort with no identifiable origin. The Hollow Shell is for points specifically. This item, when consumed at the start of a match, will automatically increase the points received by the Killer by 25% across all four criteria (Brutality, Deviousness, Hunting, and Sacrifice).
The Survivor-side equivalent item is the Sealed Envelope. Both are rated as Uncommon in terms of rarity.
2. Bloody Party Streamers
Answer: Both
One of the most popular points multipliers in the game, the Bloody Party Streamers go both ways and can be found on the Bloodwebs of both Survivors and Killers (though they are rare). When used, this consumable doubles all Bloodpoints received in a match for all participants (opposition included), and unlike many other consumables in the game, these ones stack, so Survivors who coordinate their uses might grant players a windfall if they take advantage of all aspects of gameplay.
3. Escape Cake
Answer: Survivor
The Escape Cake is a big deal on the Survivor side of the Offering list because unlike the floral consumables, the cake covers all four Survivor emblem criteria, giving a personal Bloodpoint multiplier of 100%. At the third anniversary event (in 2019), Bloodwebs also saw the introduction of the Gruesome Gateau which, though it applied to both Survivors and Killers, gave a 103% Bloodpoint multiplier (and for all players).
The Killer equivalent of the Escape Cake is Survivor Pudding.
4. Vigo's Jar of Salty Lips
Answer: Survivor
Luck is an aspect of the game unique to Survivors. When used, Luck items increase the likelihood that a Survivor can remove themselves from a hook if they choose to struggle to escape (or a Bear Trap). There is a very low chance of a Survivor being able to do this (the base amount is 1 in 25). Adding Vigo's Jar of Salty Lips gives an additional stackable 3% likelihood to make this escape (bringing the Survivor up to a 7 in 100 chance). If all four Survivors bring this, the chance rises to a 4 in 25 chance, meaning that about 1 every 6 attempts at removing oneself from the hook would be successful.
This can increase more with certain perks, but the chances are still slim.
5. Devout Spotted Owl Wreath
Answer: Killer
The Devout Spotted Owl Wreath is one of four types of wreath Offerings for Killers, the equivalent of the flower pouches that go towards Emblem multipliers. In this case, the Wreath (Owl, specifically) goes towards the Hunting emblem, devoted to the act of locating, chasing, and catching Survivors.
This Wreath gives a 75% multiplier on Bloodpoints; the Ardent one gives a 100% multiplier. None of these are stackable and they are all personal.
6. Bound Envelope
Answer: Survivor
Like the idea of the Hollow Shell, the Envelope is meant to give a general Bloodpoint multiplier, across all categories, to Survivors. In fact, a Bound Envelope gives this to all Survivors. There is a similar item-- the Sealed Envelope-- which allows the multiplier to be added to the single multiplier who uses it.
The only step up from this, across all categories, is the Escape Cake and, again, it's usable for all Survivors.
7. Clear Reagent
Answer: Both
The sole purpose of the Reagents (of which there are a handful) is to affect the Dark Mist, an obstacle (or help!) for both Survivors and Killers that affects visibility on any map, indoor or outdoor. The Clear Reagent is different from the others; the other Reagents increase the amount of Dark Mist on a map, but the Clear Reagent minimizes the Mist, decreasing it by 50%.
This can be both a blessing and a curse for both Survivors and Killers as some rely on this to hide or sneak.
8. Ivory Memento Mori
Answer: Killer
Moris are bold Offerings to cast out because they give the Killer the ability to kill Survivors with their own hands, triggering an animation that will remove a Survivor from the game based on laid-out criteria. The Ebony Mori is the strongest and allows the Killer to instantly kill anyone who's been placed on a hook twice during the match.
Other Moris will have tougher criteria; Ivory kills one Survivor who's been hooked twice; Cypress kills the last Survivor in the match. Moris are, otherwise, only triggered by certain Killer perks.
9. Tarnished Coin
Answer: Survivor
Coins are Offerings that increase or decrease the amount of chests that can appear on any given map. The map already starts with a handful of chests, but the Killer can add Scratched and Cut Coins as Offerings (to remove one or two chests from the map) and the Survivor can add Tarnished and Shiny Coins (to add one or two chests). Ultimately, these chests can contribute to adding new items into the game to aid Survivors in their fight to escape, and their perks can improve the items they get.
10. Putrid Oak
Answer: Killer
Like Coins, the Oak pieces affect the map. Survivors get Petrified Oak, which allows them to weaken the Entity's influence and increase the distance between hooks generated on the map. The Killer gets more sway though-- Mouldy Oak, Rotten Oak, and Putrid Oak-- all of which significantly decrease the distance between hooks (potentially increasing the amount found on any given map), which minimizes a chance of players escaping the Killer's grasp.
