Question 1 of 10
1. In the beginning of the game, Samus' gunship will be struck by lightning over planet Aether which, ironically, is her destination. Leaving her in-need-of-repair ship behind, Samus will trek across the Aether's Temple Grounds to find a group of soldiers that have mysteriously disappeared since descending to the planet's surface. Along the way, however, Samus will discover a dark doppelganger of herself, and following it into a mysterious dimension (which is later discovered to be Dark Aether), 'Dark Samus' will take away many of her utilities (including the Charge Beam, Missile Launcher, and Space Jump Boots). Samus will need to recover these to end her stay on Aether.

I see that there's already an error in my quiz. Where is it?
Hint

Question 2 of 10
2. The enemies of Aether and Dark Aether are fierce. Regardless of whether or not Samus is on the dark or light side of the world, she is never safe from harm. In Torvus Bog, for example, Samus will come across Bloggs in the underwater portions of the temple, but eventually, darkness will seep into the world and power them up. In Sanctuary Fortress, the same thing happens to Quad CM and Quad M8 when they are found in Sanctuary Temple. Some enemies, such as Pillbugs and Lightbringers, will provide Samus with light in Dark Aether, so they can be quite beneficial. The best bet is to avoid killing these types of creatures, but they can be defeated with the Dark Beam.

What part of this paragraph is incorrect?
Hint

Question 3 of 10
3. Arguably, Samus' most important weapon is her gun. Starting off with the Power Beam, then obtaining the Dark Beam, Light Beam, and Annihilator Beam, Samus will have a full arsenal at her disposal. The Dark Beam is the first one to be found outside Samus' starting weapons. To obtain it, she needs to go to Storage D of Agon Wastes after defeating Dark Samus in an adjacent room. The Annihilator Beam is found in the Hive Temple of Ing Hive after defeating the Quadraxis boss.

You know what...I think I can make this synopsis a bit better. What could I add to make it better?
Hint

Question 4 of 10
4. Out of sight, out of mind. If not for Samus' visor systems in "Echoes", she'd be a lost cause. The Combat Visor is the one that she starts out with, and while it really isn't anything special, it's the closest she'll get to ideal sight during the course of the game. This visor will be affected by different environmental qualities. For example, walking through steam will cause the visor to fog over. The Echo Visor is unique in itself too. This visor is found in Aerie after defeating Dark Samus, and it allows Samus to use a sonar ping to identify sound-based systems and enemies.

Where is the error in this paragraph?
Hint

Question 5 of 10
5. To put it blatantly, Morph Ball mode is just too fun to pass up. With the press of a button, Samus will roll into the Morph Ball where she is able to lay Morph Ball Bombs and Power Bombs, crawl up Spider tracks and boost up half-pipes. All of Samus' Morph Ball add-ons will be gained from beating sub-guardians, but Samus will begin the game with the Morph Ball itself. The Spider Guardian is fought in the Dynamo Works while the Power Bomb Guardian is found in the Dark Torvus Arena. The Morph Ball was also featured in "Metroid Prime's" first installment.

What part of this summary is wrong?
Hint

Question 6 of 10
6. The wide world(s) of Aether can be quite daunting at times, but if you look at it from a broader view, landmarks may be easier to remember. For example, Agon Wastes is home to a Space Pirate base and the only Metroids of the game while Torvus Bog is home to an underground, underwater complex. Sanctuary Fortress is known for its futuristic, mechanical setting. On the flipside of the world, Dark Aether's settings are simply a more corrupt version of each location. The major difference exists in Temple Grounds, which become Sky Temple Grounds in Dark Aether.

Which of these singles out the error of the paragraph?
Hint

Question 7 of 10
7. Sometimes you just need to get specific to get the job done. Samus' travels around the major areas of Aether and Dark Aether don't end at a vague description of an area. For example, finding the Judgment Pit in Dark Agon Wastes will be important since it is home to Amorbis. On the other hand, this area's known as Mining Station A in Light Agon Wastes. The Phazon Grounds are found in the dark version of the Temple Grounds as well as the Plain of Dark Worship. In addition, the Hydrodynamo Station is in Torvus Bog.

What's wrong with this paragraph?
Hint

Question 8 of 10
8. Part of navigating through the journey is understanding how everything works. For example, Samus needs to find three keys for each major temple in Dark Aether's locales and the Sky Temple requires ten keys. As well, many locks and doors must be scanned to gain access to certain areas. If Samus reaches the energy controller in Sanctuary Fortress, she will gain access to any lore or locked areas involving crimson-decrypted information.

Everything seems to fit. What's the problem here?
Hint

Question 9 of 10
9. The bosses of "Metroid Prime 2: Echoes" vary greatly depending on where Samus is. Amorbis, for example, in Dark Agon Wastes, is a large, worm-like enemy which hides the Dark Suit. Chykka, found in Dark Torvus Temple, is one of the more frustrating bosses of the game, coming in many different forms, but the completion of this boss will result in the Dark Visor. Fighting Quadraxis in the Sanctuary Fortress will result in the Annihilator Beam.

Which fact about these bosses is incorrect?
Hint

Question 10 of 10
10. After depositing the Sky Temple Keys into their respective slots, the route to the Sky Temple will be given and Samus will need to face off against the Emperor Ing in the main chamber here. This battle takes many stages to complete as the Emperor battles, recharges its energy in an impenetrable Chrysalis, and then battles again in a larger form. Following this battle, Samus will get just under five minutes to get back to Light Aether. This may seem easy, but the route will soon be blocked by Dark Samus and a wall of Phazon. When Dark Samus is defeated, Samus can return the final light to the Luminoth Temple, get back to her ship, and be done with Aether once and for all.

Ahh...happy endings...but there's still something wrong. What's the error?

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts

Answer: Dark Samus doesn't take Samus' weapons; the Ing do.

In this unfortunate turn of events, Samus will lose the majority of the weapons she recovered after her 'accident' on the Space Pirate Frigate in "Metroid Prime". After these fortunate Ing take their share of Samus' equipment they will retire to their respective locales of Aether and Dark Aether to give Samus a chance at gaining them back.

Other helpful items are gained from the planet's unique lifeforms. In order to advance to these locations, Samus will speak with U-Mos, Sentinel of the Luminoth, in the Temple Grounds, but before she can she'll need to find out what exactly happened to the Federation Marines...and what she finds is an utter mess.

Answer: Pillbugs don't produce light in Dark Aether.

Pillbugs are somewhat harmless creatures that roll around the tunnels only accessible by Morph Ball mode. The only way to defeat these creatures is with Bombs in this form since it's the only occasion that Samus will see them. As stated, they do not produce light in Dark Aether, but this is due to the fact that they are not found in Dark Aether to begin with and they weren't produced to do so (like Lightbringers were; they were Luminoth-created). Quad CM and Quad M8 fuse together as a head and body unit to create one large monster; they are both found in Sanctuary Fortress. Bloggs are restricted to water, and water is only found in Torvus and Dark Torvus Bog.

Answer: Samus obtains at least one more beam than the four listed.

See, aside from the four offensive Beam weapons that Samus will have by the end of the game, she will also obtain the Grapple Beam (indeed, another beam item) by defeating the Grapple Guardian in the Sacrificial Chamber of Dark Torvus Bog. This beam, fired by pressing the L button, will latch onto Grapple Hooks and anything remotely resembling such objects to allow Samus to cross large gaps or hit pull switches.

While firing the Grapple Gun, Samus can fire her regular beam weapon, but not aim. Samus' Light and Dark Beams will use a maximum of 250 ammo. Beam Ammo Expansions will raise her initial amount by fifty each time.

The Light Beam is obtained in Dark Agon Wastes while the Wave Beam is found in the first "Metroid Prime" game.

Answer: The Combat Visor isn't the only starting visor.

Although Samus does have the Combat Visor from the start of the game, she also brings the Scan Visor with her at the beginning, allowing her to identify enemies, items, lore, and odd objects around Aether and Dark Aether. As well, Samus will later find the Dark Visor in Dark Torvus Temple by defeating Chykka. This visor is able to see between dimensions, showing Samus enemies that are hidden in the light world. The Echo Visor is the final one to be found.
Ing Cache 1 is home to the Light Beam while the Annihilator Beam is obtained after defeating Quadraxis.

Answer: The Power Bomb Guardian is found in the Undertemple.

The Power Bomb Guardian, which is very similar to another dark Ing creature, will simply perch itself on a large pillar, and as you attempt to navigate spider ball tracks around the walls of the room, it'll make things complicated. Nonetheless, when four switches are hit, the creature will be destroyed and the Power Bomb can be obtained. Ideally, ten of these can be held at once, but Samus will begin with a capacity of three Power Bombs at a time. Pressing Y will deploy one of them almost instantly. Power Bombs also have the ability to destroy Denzium.

Answer: Metroids are found in Sky Temple Grounds as well.

Samus will travel to the Luminoth Temple, Sky Temple, Temple Grounds, Sky Temple Grounds, Light and Dark Agon Wastes, Light and Dark Torvus Bog, Sanctuary Fortress, and Ing Hive during the course of the game. Regardless of the path Samus takes, she must visit each and every one of these locations at least once or twice. Each location contains enemies indigenous to the local ecosystems as well as technologies not needed anywhere else. Specifically, Metroids are found in Agon Wastes, Dark Agon Wastes, and the Sky Temple Grounds because all of these areas have exposed Phazon within them.

Answer: Amorbis isn't found in the Judgment Pit.

Amorbis is found in Dark Agon Temple (Alpha Sandigger and Bomb Guardian are in the Light Aether version of this room) while the Space Jump Guardian is the boss fought in the Judgment Pit. Both areas are found in the darker regions of Agon Wastes and while they do come early on, they're still somewhat difficult as Samus will have significantly less health at this point in the game. Phazon Grounds are home to some unfriendly Dark Tallon Metroids and a Missile Expansion while the Plain of Dark Worship contains a Flying Ing Cache and Sky Temple Key.

The Hydrodynamo Station in Torvus Bog is home to both a Missile Expansion and the Alpha Blogg. In the Dark Aether version of this room, the Power Bomb Guardian is fought.

Answer: Reaching Sanctuary Fortress' energy controller will result in Samus being able to read Cobalt-decrypted lore.

Essentially any door can be scanned with Samus' Scan Visor, but some of these are guarded by Luminoth technology, and for Samus' own protection she can't access these certain areas until much later in the game (usually she won't have the adequate weapons anyways). Different energy controllers being activated will result in different coloured lore being accessible. Samus will cross the Dark Aether versions of Agon Wastes, Torvus Bog, and Sanctuary Fortress for Dark Keys to access the respective temples and claim the energy for that region. Once all of this energy has been reclaimed in the name of the Luminoth, Samus will need to get the Sky Temple's energy, and to do this she needs to get ten Sky Temple Keys (nine of which are found in Flying Ing Caches around the world, and one of which is already in place under the temple itself).

Answer: Quadraxis is not fought in Sanctuary Fortress.

While Quadraxis is a large, robotic creature found in this futuristic setting, it's actually found in the Ing Hive. Once Samus claims three Ing Hive Keys, the door to this large, robotic boss will open and the battle will begin. Similarly, Amorbis and Chykka are each found in Dark Agon Wastes and Dark Torvus Bog protecting their energy controllers. Defeating Quadraxis requires time and power. Every time one piece of the Quadraxis is defeated, it happens to spit off into another strong form. Quadraxis will be defeated and turn into Damaged Quadraxis.

The head will split off and become a Shielded Head Module, and when the antenna on the Damaged Quadraxis is destroyed, it will become a Stunned Head Module. Samus will then need to defeat the Final Head Module to claim the prize at the end.

Answer: Samus has more than five minutes to get back to Light Aether.

In reality, following the defeat of Emperor Ing in the Sanctum of the Sky Temple, Samus will be given just under eight minutes to flee from the obscurely upside-down temple. When Samus reaches ground level, she will be thrown into one final battle against the seemingly-unbeatable Dark Samus. Now fused with Phazon, Dark Samus will literally be unbeaten by the majority of Samus' weaponry, so using the Charge Beam to suck in and shoot the enemy's Phazon back at them will cause the battle to shorten drastically. After the battle, Samus will discover that Dark Samus was actually a form of Metroid Prime, who had been attracted to the Phazon of Aether's two dimensions. Samus quickly makes it back to Light Aether as the dimension destroys itself. As she returns the last energy of Aether to the Luminoth Temple, the Luminoth bid her adieu and she returns to her ship and leaves the planet.

But is it really over?
