Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What material is easily destroyed by Morph Ball Bombs?

Answer: Talloric Alloy

Throughout Aether and Dark Aether, these materials will often be found blocking access paths or expandable units in various different areas. Although these are often scannable with the Scan Visor, Samus will not be able to make any advancements until she obtains the correct weapon necessary for breaking the material open. Talloric Alloy is probably the earliest instance of such, being breakable by the Morph Ball Bomb found early in the game.

In the original "Metroid Prime", its counterpart was Sandstone, also breakable by the same weapon. Denzium is broken by Power Bombs while Bendezium is primarily found in the first "Metroid Prime". Once again, it was only broken by the Power Bomb. Phazon is unlikely to be destroyed by any of Samus' weapons.

In fact, it's an extremely dangerous substance.
2. Health comes in packets that are in which shape?

Answer: Orbs

Health Orbs come in many sizes and colours throughout the game, and while they'll be extremely common during the journey through Aether and Dark Aether, they'll usually never be thrown by the wayside; they're a precious commodity. A Small Energy Unit will represent 10 energy while other denominations will result in 20, 50, and 100 energy respectively. Energy is upgradable through the course of the game as Samus finds Energy Containers. Each of these will add an additional 100 energy to Samus' total energy. All of these containers are found throughout the game in various places. Often, Samus will need to backtrack or solve intricate puzzles to reach these though.
3. Which game company developed "Metroid Prime 2: Echoes"?

Answer: Retro Studios

Although Retro Studios had been slated to finish many different products for the Gamecube, their works continuously got cancelled. It wasn't until Nintendo bought the majority of the company's shares in 2001 that work commenced on the "Metroid Prime" series. Over the course of the company's existence, Retro's claim to fame has been the "Prime" series (including some work on the DS title "Metroid Prime Hunters"). HAL Laboratory is a second-party developer known for working on the "Kirby", "Pokemon", and "Super Smash Bros." franchises, Intelligent Systems worked on the "Fire Emblem" and "Paper Mario" series, and Monolith Soft worked on "Baten Kaitos".
4. Samus begins the game wearing which suit?

Answer: Varia Suit

The Varia Suit is a "Metroid Prime" staple, appearing in all three games of the series. Although Samus begins the first "Metroid Prime" game wearing the Power Suit, defeating the first major boss, Flaaghra, and restoring the waters of Tallon IV's Chozo Ruins will result in Samus' collecting of the Varia Suit, which has the power to prevent harm from overexposure.

The suit is the first of Samus' few suits in "Metroid Prime 2: Echoes", and it remains Samus' only protection from the harsh landscapes of Aether (and Dark Aether) until she obtains the Dark Suit. Until then, Samus will continuously sustain heavier-than-normal damage in Dark Aether.
5. Who is the Sentinel of the Luminoth?

Answer: U-Mos

U-Mos is the fifth and final Sentinel of the Luminoth. Overlooking the Luminoth Great Temple from the Main Energy Controller, U-Mos will guide Samus in the directions she needs to take. This way, she can restore the powers of light to the planet Aether and stop Dark Aether from making its crossroads once and for all. Along the way, Samus will meet many other Sentinels from around the world.

In restoring the powers of light around Aether, she herself will become the Sentinel of these respective areas.
6. What is the name for the Missile/Charge Beam combo for the Light Beam?

Answer: Sunburst

The Sunburst is found in the Grand Windchamber of Dark Agon Wastes, and while it comes along a bit later in the game, it is a very useful object in navigating Aether. Shooting a rather slow-moving burst shot, the weapon is ideal against larger Dark Aether enemies.

Much like the Darkshot (the Dark Beam counterpart of this weapon), it makes use of the Charge Beam and five Missiles (much like the Super Missile upgrade). Samus does not need to defeat a boss before or after obtaining this item, much like when the Darkshot was obtained earlier in the game.
7. Which item is the first to be found?

Answer: Boost Ball

The Boost Ball is an item obtained by defeating the Boost Guardian in Dark Torvus Bog. Perhaps one of the more frustrating bosses of the game, this guardian will transform itself into a Morph Ball and boost around the arena it fights in, knocking Samus around on the way. Defeating this boss takes a bit of dexterity, and Samus will need to make use of explosives and heavier arsenal in order to defeat the boss. The Boost Ball is important in order to activate certain Spinner switches. As well, the unique speed demonstrated by this item itself is great in navigation.
8. Which of these enemies is only fought in Sanctuary Fortress?

Answer: Octopede

The Octopede is a Small Mechanoid creature only found in specific, confined areas of Sanctuary Fortress. When Samus inflicts a certain amount of damage on these creatures, they'll go rogue, splitting apart and bouncing across the floor before self-destructing. Luckily, they're only a minor threat as long as Samus has the room to move away. Grenchlers, Bloggs, and Krocusses are only found in the Torvus Bog region. Grenchlers are bipedal enemies with a weak back while Bloggs and Krocusses restrict their actions to the underwater locales of the region.
9. Which weapon makes use of the L button to fire?

Answer: Grapple Beam

The Grapple Beam is the final of the four choices to be obtained in the game, and with it, Samus can swing from grapple hook to grapple hook to reach platforms and locations she couldn't reach before. Although the item comes to Samus late in the original "Metroid Prime", Samus finds this piece of hardware in Dark Torvus Bog when she fights the Grapple Guardian in the Sacrificial Chamber. To beat this beast, Samus must use the Charge Beam (or Light Beam) and/or Missiles to beat the creature much like she would a normal Grenchler.
10. What word(s) relating to "Metroid Prime 2: Echoes" can be spelled with the first letter of the previous nine answers?

Answer: Torvus Bog

Torvus Bog is the third area of Aether that Samus visits in the game (the first two being the Temple Grounds and Agon Wastes). Unlike the previous two areas, Torvus Bog (and Dark Torvus Bog) is waterlogged to the point where Samus will eventually need to swim for the majority of the area.

As well, many different weapons that Samus can use across the globe are found in this area (such as the Grapple Beam, Boost Ball, and the Super Missile. Dark Torvus Temple is home to Chykka in its numerous forms. Beating this boss will result in Samus' Dark Visor, which allows Samus to see in the alternate world a bit better.
