Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The first main boss of the game is the Alpha Splinter. In which area does Samus face off against the Dark Alpha Splinter?

Answer: Great Temple

Although prior to this, players will face off against their first Dark Missile Trooper (who, I may add, becomes a hassle rather than a challenge later in the game), the real boss battles don't really begin until Samus faces off against the Alpha Splinter in the main arena of the Great Temple, found an elevator ride above the Temple Grounds.

Although Alpha Splinter is considerably easier than other bosses (and some enemies found later in the game), its position shouldn't be taken lightly. After a while, Alpha Splinter will transform into Dark Alpha Splinter (let's give a big hooray for Dark Aether), and you'll need to watch out for both random jumping attacks and laser shots. Regardless, when the battle ceases, the Alpha Splinter will disappear forever and you'll earn the Energy Transfer Module, a requirement necessary for obtaining the light energy from around Aether and returning it to the Temple.
2. Alpha Sandigger becomes which of these bosses?

Answer: Bomb Guardian

Alpha Sandigger is found in the Agon Temple arena, and while this boss may not be the most difficult, its rewards are beneficial. Halfway through the battle, Alpha Sandigger becomes the Bomb Guardian, and it's painfully obvious that your reward will be the Morph Ball Bomb, originally stolen by the Ing during Samus' first Dark Aether visit.
Jump Guardian is found in the Judgment Pit of Dark Agon Wastes. Due to the fact that it is already a dark creature, it doesn't transform from a normal enemy. Similarities arise between this creature and other Warrior Ing, but the main difference is regarding its jumping abilities. The completion of this battle will result in the Space Jump Boots, allowing for Samus to double jump.
The Boost Guardian is the final 'real' boss. Found in Dark Torvus Bog (in the Dark Torvus Arena, no less), this boss tends to be a bit tricky. Although it looks similar to other Warrior Ing, it will often transform using the Boost Ball technique and randomly shoot around the stage, avoiding being hit at all costs.
3. How many Amorbis will appear during the boss battle for the Dark Suit?

Answer: Three

Returning to Dark Agon Temple for yet another boss battle, you can find Amorbis sporting the latest of Samus' fashions for "Metroid Prime 2". The battle starts with random jumping Amorbises that will try to land on you around the arena. Luckily, these bosses are large enough that you can view their trajectory the moment they leap from the ground. For the second half of the battle, the three Amorbises will attach to a rather large, indestructible ball in the center of the field, and destroying them becomes a matter of firepower and Morph Ball Bombs aimed directly into the digestive system. Defeating all three is the only way to win, and as long as you stay inside the light you won't lose too much of your energy; just pick your moments right. Completing this battle will destroy the 'indestructible' ball (ha ha, take that shoddy Ing craftsmanship) and result in the Dark Suit, which still hurts Samus in Dark Aether, but slows down the rate of damage taken by a tolerable rate.
4. The defeat of Alpha Blogg results in which weapon?

Answer: None of these

I'm not a big fan of the Alpha Blogg. Upon entering the lower confines of Torvus Bog and realizing that the entire place is flooded, you too will come to realize that the next boss battle will take place underwater. The Alpha Blogg, like other Alpha monsters before it, is very similar to its co-existing counterparts, but it's more powerful. Shooting charged shots of most weapons into its weak point (look for the gaping mouth as it torpedoes at you) will make short work of the creature, but in doing this, you'll probably get hit dead on if you don't make a move to dodge. Beating this will not result in a weapon or upgrade per se, but you will receive a Dark Torvus Temple Key (and it should be your second of three).
5. Excluding Chyklings, how many different forms of Chykka are fought?

Answer: Three

Chykka is the major boss of Torvus Bog. Found in Dark Torvus Temple, Samus must collect the three Dark Torvus Keys before she is able to access the boss arena. When Samus is lifted into the arena on a small platform, she must knock the boss' cocoon off the wall and into the dark, acidic water to wake it up.

In larval form, Samus must simply defeat the creature, but in doing this, Chykka will rapidly evolve into its adult form, a moth-like creature that shoots the area's acidic waters at Samus on separate platforms.

As Samus uses the Seeker Missile Launcher to knock Chykka out of the sky, it will eventually morph into Dark Chykka, and flip between the two forms. Once the creature is dead, Samus can claim the Dark Visor.
6. Which boss is only fought in Morph Ball form?

Answer: Both Spider Guardian and Power Bomb Guardian

Chronologically, the Grapple Guardian is the first one that Samus will encounter during the course of the game. Found in the Sacrificial Chamber underneath Dark Torvus Bog, this creature will use the Grapple Beam on Samus to lure her in and attack. To defeat it, Samus must use large energy beams within the room as well as heavy firepower.
The Spider Guardian comes a bit later in Sanctuary Fortress' Dynamo Works area. To defeat this boss, Samus must transform into Morph Ball mode, and using bombs, knock this boss for a loop. The battle results in the Spider Ball feature.
The Power Bomb Guardian is the final 'Guardian' boss of the game. Found in the Under Temple of Torvus Bog, this boss is primarily fought in Morph Ball mode as well, but since Samus has the power of the Spider Ball, the battle can finally be completed.
7. The Caretaker Class Drone will often knock Samus off a Spider Ball track during battle. What is wrong with the floor if Samus hits it?

Answer: It is periodically electrified.

When Samus arrives in the Main Research area of Sanctuary Fortress with the Echo Visor, she can open up a route underneath the large, transparent, central cylinder to fight the sole Caretaker Class Drone of the game. This large mechanoid will descend from the ceiling and use its claws to knock Samus to the ground of the arena and off the Spider Ball tracks lining the walls.

The way for Samus to beat this robot is by shooting across the circular Spider Ball tracks and into hanging apparatuses that drop from the machine. Hitting the large, central column three times will result in the boss' destruction, and it will lead Samus to an unexplored region of the fortress.
8. What is the weak spot found on the Quadraxis' lower half?

Answer: Knees

Quadraxis is found within the Hive Temple in the Ing Hive and is only fought after obtaining the three Ing Hive Keys. When Samus enters this large arena, darkness will envelop the previously-stationary boss and bring it to life. In the first part of the battle, Samus must attack the knee joints of the creature as they flash blue.

When all of the legs are down, the bottom half will destroy itself while the head will detach. Using the Echo Visor, Samus must defeat the radio transmitters on the legs and three different ones on the head. Once this is done, Samus can use the Spider and Boost Balls, and rather heavy attacks to destroy the head piece once and for all.

The end of this battle will conclude with Samus obtaining the Annihilator Beam from the wreckage.
9. What major boss is fought in the Sky Temple?

Answer: Emperor Ing

When Samus arrives in the topsy-turvy, upside-down world of the Sky Temple, she'll need to enter a Phazon lined energy control room, and upon finding this, she will need to fight the Emperor Ing in its many forms. The first form is a matter of avoiding the beast's tentacles and shooting it in its rarely-exposed eye.

When this is done, the Emperor will hide away in a Chrysalis to restore its energy. Samus can take this opportunity to heal and destroy the shell completely. When this is destroyed, the Mutant Emperor Ing, charged by Phazon, will make for its final stand, and Samus will need to use the power of polarity (Light and Dark Beams) or as a much more powerful alternative, the Annihilator Beam, to finish the job. Once this is done, the final countdown begins.
10. Samus will face off against Dark Samus in the Sky Temple Grounds.

Answer: True

Once Samus defeats the Emperor Ing and takes the Sky Temple's energy, the entire Dark side of Aether will begin to collapse. As a meager eight minute timer begins its countdown, Samus will descend from the Sky Temple to find the grounds blocked by a wall of Phazon.

In this arena, Dark Samus will make a third and final appearance. The first portion of the battle is simply about avoiding Samus' attacks and hitting her with everything you've got. When she turns invisible, the Echo Visor is used to get a signal.

This tactic will change when Dark Samus envelops herself in Pazon. Samus will need to use the Charge Beam to collect Phazon shots and shoot them back at the shielded boss as well as avoid the Missiles being shot. When Dark Samus is defeated, Samus will need to take a portal back to Aether to avoid being destroyed with the alternate dimension, and upon returning the energy to the Luminoth Temple, she'll be able to head back to the ship and leave the planet.
