Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What was the name of the sole expansion pack for "Diablo II"?

Answer: Lord of Destruction

"Lord of Destruction" added a fifth act to the popular game which allowed players to interact with one another on "Battle.net". The fifth act took players to a snowy land where they had to travel across the mountains to reach Baal, a brother of Diablo, who was also the Lord of Destruction. Six new quests, new items, and the introduction of the Druid and Assassin characters were big selling points for this new expansion released in 2001.
2. "The Sims" is literally known for its many expansion packs, which are often released many times throughout the year. Which of these is the odd one out?

Answer: Open for Business

"Open For Business" was the third expansion pack on the sequel to the original "Sims" game, "Sims 2" whereas all of the other listed expansions increase the amount of items, areas, and possibilities in the first game. Along with "Makin' Magic", "Hot Date", and "Superstar", players could expand with "Livin' Large", "House Party", "Unleashed", and "Vacation". "The Sims 2" has also seen the "University" and "Nightlife" expansions prior to the release of "Open for Business". 'Stuff Packs' have also been released for "The Sims 2' allowing players to access new items and music between expansions.
3. One expansion pack for the PC title "Zoo Tycoon" was "Marine Mania". What was the other?

Answer: Dinosaur Digs

"Dinosaur Digs" was the first "Zoo Tycoon" expansion and it went beyond the idea of a logical, modern zoo because after all, zoos don't often contain prehistoric creatures. Despite this, players could continue to build holding pens and environments in order to suit the needs of their extinct beasts. "Marine Mania" was released following "Dinosaur Digs" (and it included the expansion).

It allowed players to create large aquariums and water-themed exhibits for visitors and new animals. These were the only expansions released before Blue Fang released "Zoo Tycoon 2".
4. Which game has had expansions such as "Loopy Landscapes" and "Corkscrew Follies"?

Answer: Rollercoaster Tycoon

Both expansions mentioned in the question were released for the original "Rollercoaster Tycoon" game in 1999 though "Corkscrew Follies" was named "Added Attractions" in Australia and the UK. Both expansions added new rides, features, shops, and locations for players to use. "Rollercoaster Tycoon 2" and "Rollercoaster Tycoon 3" were also released with expansions though they focused on different features.

In the second installment, "Time Tunnel" and "Wacky World" focused on new locations around the world and through time while the third game placed emphasis on rides with the "Wild!" and "Soaked!" expansions.
5. Which of these was not an expansion for the PC game "Half-Life"?

Answer: Lost Coast

Unlike the incorrect answers to this question, "Lost Coast" was somewhat an expansion for "Half-Life 2", the sequel. "Lost Coast" was planned as an extra chapter for the award-winning game though it was released as an online download for players instead of being a buyable product. "Half-Life 2" can also be expanded by "Half Life Episode 1, 2, and 3".
6. The N64's 'Expansion Pak' was used on some of the later, more popular games of the system. Which of these games did not use this new product?

Answer: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

Both "Donkey Kong 64" and "The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask" required the product to be played. In fact, both of these were released with the pak. "Perfect Dark" on the other hand (along with "Starcraft 64") used the Expansion Pak to include many improvements and extra features.

Although many games (like "Ocarina of Time") did not use the pak's capabilities at all, games like "Resident Evil 2", "Pokémon Stadium 2", and "Star Wars: Rogue Squadron" were able to use the hardware to their advantage, often tweaking features and making minor improvements to the games.
7. One of the expansion packs for the popular game "Elder Scrolls III" was "Tribunal". What was the other?

Answer: Bloodmoon

Although these two expansions were easily released on the PC, the Xbox version could not be expanded so easily. In order to do this, Bethesda released the "Morrowind: Game of the Year Edition" which featured both the "Tribunal" and "Bloodmoon" expansions.

In "Tribunal", players could journey to the city of Mournhold for new, more difficult quests, and in "Bloodmoon", players could travel north to the island of Solstheim where they could build a mining town or save the snowy region from werewolves (or become one).
8. What is the only expansion for "Starcraft" (PC)?

Answer: Brood War

"Brood War" allowed players to complete double the campaigns that they were initially able to complete without the expansion, and it also followed the storyline proceding Sarah Kerrigan's transformation into a Zerg creature. The Nintendo 64 version of the game was released featuring the expansion and used the expansion pack to perform this.

The expansion also introduced new units for players to use.
9. "Resurrection of Evil" was the expansion for which survival/horror title?

Answer: Doom 3

All of the incorrect answers are not playable on the PC, so an expansion can not be downloaded onto them. "Doom 3" was a game with a dark survival/horror atmosphere, and set in the future (on Mars), players could fight horrific monsters. The game had improved on the graphics from the original "Doom" games by far and continued to be a first-person shooter. Gamerankings.com dubbed "Doom 3" one of the top 10 games of 2004.
10. Which "Guild Wars" expansion took players to the continent of Cantha?

Answer: Factions

"Guild Wars" is an online role-playing game much like "World of Warcraft", but it doesn't require fees to play. In the game, players can choose a profession (eg. Elementalist, Warrior, Ranger, etc.) and travel across continents to complete quests and the like. "Guild Wars Factions", which brought players to the Asian-like world of Cantha, was the first expansion, while "Nightfall" (set in the desert world of Elona) was the second. "Guild Wars Prophecies" is a title for the first game.

A great thing about these expansions is that either you can choose to play a character in both continents if you have the expansions installed, or you can play them as standalone games (because the expansions don't need "Prophecies" to be installed first).
