One year after the Voodoo Murders case, Gabriel has permanently relocated to his ancestors' home, Schloss Ritter in Rittersburg, Germany. There, he lives with Gerde. He is seen working on his next book when a new case comes up.

Excluding remakes and fan games, this is the only game in the series where Gabriel is not portrayed by Tim Curry. "Gabriel Knight 2" is an interactive movie. The actors are seen, not just heard. Jane Jensen did not think Tim Curry looked like her vision of Gabriel, so she got someone else to do it, and that someone else is Dean Erickson. As a result, Gabriel looks and sounds nothing like he does in the other games. He also has a very different character in this game. The Gabriel of the first game was an arrogant, sexist rogue. The Gabriel of the second game is still a rogue at times, but he's no longer the other two things, making him far more likeable. I like Tim Curry's voice but I don't really miss him in "Gabriel Knight 2".

Gerde is also completely different in this game than she was in the first one. Conversely, the Grace of this game is very similar to the Grace of the first game even though it is a different actress.

Answer: Huber

In the intro, a group of old men knock on the door of Schloss Ritter to ask for the Schattenjager. Huber's cousin's daughter has been murdered. They believe that a werewolf did it, and they can't call the police because they don't believe in werewolves, so they need the new Schattenjager. Gabriel reluctantly accepts, hoping it gives him some material for his next novel. Huber lets Gabriel stay at his cousin's farm while his cousin's family has moved up north for the week. Gabriel must solve the case.

Answer: Blake Backlash

Gabriel writes books that are true stories based on his own life, except he changes the names. He is Blake Backlash. Uncle Wolfgang is Uncle Dameon. We find out who some of the other characters become later.

Answer: Detective Mosely is not in this game

This is a trick question. Gabriel's childhood best friend, Detective Mosely, is not in this game at all. He is mentioned in Grace's first letter to Gabriel and that is it. He is stationed in new Orleans and he musts stay there. This is unfortunate because while Mosely didn't do his job very well without help from an amateur detective, at least he shot Dr. John.

The police detective in "Gabriel Knight 2" accomplishes nothing.

Answer: Fur and footprint

Gabriel finds reddish brown fur on the farm near the forest. Then he finds a footprint near a water trough. He uses some wet cement that he finds in the barn on the footprint so he can take it with him and find someone who can analyze the evidence.

Answer: Police officer

Because the game takes place in Germany, most of the characters speak German (although the actors are American actors. Natives of Germany say that the actors in this game do not speak good German). However, in Germany, it is normal for people to learn and be fluent in at least three different languages. So, most of the characters in this game speak English.

However, Gabriel goes to the police station in chapter one to try and meet with the lead police detective on the case that he's doing. He can't get in the station, because the receptionist cop does not speak English and Gabriel does not speak German. So Gabriel must come back later.

Answer: Ubergrau

Gabriel finds a letter from Ubergrau in his backpack. It's an invitation to visit. Gabriel visit Ubergrau and asks him a lot of questions. Ubergrau helps out Gabriel in many different ways in this game.

Answer: Canis Lupus Lupus

The wolves at the zoo are grey wolves. This is interesting because the fur at the farm was reddish brown.

Answer: Tomas

Gabriel talks to Tomas to learn about wolves, what happened with the escaped wolves, and how he can get access to the wolves. Tomas isn't all that excited to speak to Gabriel, and he wasn't around when the wolves escaped (because the wolves escaped at night and Tomas only works during the day). Nonetheless, he tells Gabriel what he knows. According to Tomas, the boy he works at night got fired. I you feel bad for the night boy now, you'll feel worse about him when you learn what really happened.

Greg is the name is the name Gabriel uses for the boy when he talks to the zoo administrator. Gabriel does this on purpose to make the zoo administrator mention the boy's name.

Answer: Dr. Klingman

Herr Dr. Klingman is the owner of the zoo. He specializes in wolves. He does not think his wolves are responsible for the murders, but he has no idea who is responsible.

Answer: The Language of Death

The Language of Death is an alternate theory to the Survival of the Fittest theory. It states that in the wild, natural selection isn't determined by the biggest and strongest animals, but rather which animals are the best at communicating to their predators whether or not they are ready to die. Klingman says that domesticated animals do not understand the Language of Death because they were raised by humans who do not know The Language of Death.

Very few scientists believe this theory, but Klingman says he has found people that do. It will be important for Gabriel to find these people, too.

Answer: He splices the zoo official's tape

Gabriel records all of his conversations. When Klingman doesn't let Gabriel see the wolves, Gabriel realizes he has to find another way to get to them. He splices bits in pieces of Klingman's tape so it says "Tomas? Herr Dr. Klingman here. Show our wolves to Mr. Knight." He plays the splice tape over the walkie talkie in Klingman's office when Klingman isn't present. Tomas is confused by the order, but he decides to follow it and let Gabriel see the wolves up close. Gabriel pats one of the wolves to get a fur sample, to Tomas's chagrin.

The wolf gets mad, and the two boys are forced to run. One boy at the zoo had already been fired, and Tomas is afraid that he too will be fired because of Gabriel patting the wolf. We never find out if he is, as Gabriel is done at the zoo after this.

Answer: Hunting

Gabriel finds a receipt in Klingman's office. He shows it to Ubergrau for a translataion, and Ubergrau says that it's a hunting license. Gabriel must find out why a zoo official wants a hunting license.

Answer: Von Glower

Xavier, the receptionist, is reluctant to invite Gabriel into the hunting club because it is for members of highly successful German families and Gabriel is just some young American who just walked into the building. When Gabriel provides Xavier with proof that he is from a major German family (The Ritter family), Xavier is still reluctant to let Gabriel in.

However, Von Glower overhears that Gabriel is a Ritter, and after looking through the paperwork, Von Glower invites Gabriel to join the club, to Xavier's chagrin.

In the closing movie, Von Glower introduces Gabriel to everyone and they socialize. Dr. Klingman is quite surprised to see Gabriel again, but he's not upset at all.
