Of course you'd think Gabriel would want his room buzzed a little before 2 AM so he'd have time to get to Larry Chester's house before he does whatever he's going to do, but somehow Gabriel makes it to Larry Chester's house in time. That must be one fast Harley! Larry Chester buries his manuscript. Gabriel digs it up, gets his fingerprint, and gives it to Grace to read. And the music for this segment is awesome.

Answer: A baby was kidnapped

You have to read the comic book that came with the game to get the backstory. Prince James of Albany hired Gabriel to protect his baby because he was afraid that, since he and his baby are descendants of Jesus, someone was going to kidnap the baby and use Jesus's descendant's power for their own good. Gabriel does his best to protect the baby, but then it gets late at night and Gabriel falls asleep. The baby gets kidnapped and is seen as having two holes in its neck. Gabriel sees the kidnappers get on the train, so he gets on the train with him. The kidnappers knock him out. When he wakes up, he's at Rennes-les-Chateau. A taxi driver takes him to the nearest hotel so he can get some rest.

Von Glower was born a werewolf because his father was a werewolf. His father raped a girl. Then a gyspy turned him into a werewolf as punishment for this crime. A schattenjager captured Von Glower's father and locked him up in the dungeon. Later, Von Glower's father was burned. But then the cursed was passed down to Von Glower. Von Glower decided the best way to deal with this curse was to find a companion. Werewolves have an instinct to find companions. Von Glower lived his life turning people into werewolves so they could be his lifelong companions. None of them handled the change well. So then Von Glower started the hunting club. He figured if he could give men time to buy into his philosophy, they'd be ready for the change. Von Zell was the best student Von Glower ever had, so Von Glower changed him. Von Zell handled the change better than Von Glower's previous chosen ones, but he was still a disaster. So Von Glower didn't bother changing the other club members. However, Gabriel had already been changed because Von Zell bit him. Von Glower then thinks Gabriel will handle the change better than his previous chosen ones because Gabriel's blood is already supernatural. Unbeknownst to Gabriel, Von Glower knew right from the beginning about Gabriel's family line and the schattenjagers. We know that this is because Von Glower saw one of Gabriel's ancestors capture his father, which later led to his burning. Von Glower wants Gabriel to be his lifelong companion for two reason. First because Von Glower always wants a lifelong companion, and secondly, because he doesn't want the schattenjager to kill him.

Gabriel shows Leber some evidence that he has information on the killer. In return, Leber shows Gabriel a ledger of the money Grossberg owed to Dorn, a man who deals with animals illegally. Gabriel then steals the ledger and tells Leber what he knows about the killer, except that Gabriel gives Leber the wrong location of the hunt club when he realizes the SWAT team is going in on them. Gabriel goes to Dorn's place and tells him he is Grossberg's financial associate. Upon learning that Dorn won't talk to him until he gives him the $14,000, Gabriel goes to Ubergrau and fetches $14,000 from the Ritter account and gives it to Dorn. Dorn lets him and talks to him.

Gabriel sends a letter to Grace saying that he tracked the suspect down to a hunt club. It has become clear to Grace that Ludwig II is connected to Gabriel somehow, so when she reads of a hunting accident in a book about Ludwig II, she fears Gabriel will be in a hunting accident.

Trying to talk to Leber and show him your business card doesn't work. Showing him the lab report and the evidence still doesn't work. He doesn't want to listen to some American civilian. Gabriel goes to his last resort choice and talks to the media. On camera, Gabriel talks loudly to Leber about the evidence eh found and the lab report he got. Leber angrily comes up to Gabriel and pushes him, furious that Gabriel is making him look bad. He agrees to meet Gabriel in the station later.

Grace's tone of voice is an angry one when she speaks to Gerde. It is strongly implied that Grace thinks that Gabriel is replacing her with Gerde in every facet of his life. Apparently Grace thinks that whoever is doing the research for the Schattenjager as his lifemate. Of course, given how little respect Grace seems to have for Gabriel, it's baffling why this would bother her even if it were true.

Gabriel and Uncle Wolfgang go to Benin to recover the family talisman. When they get to the inner wheel of the snake mound they find a trough. They can feel a magical energy coming from there and they believe that's where the talisman is. But they can't get the lid off the trough by itself. They have to get a human heart from the mummy. Uncle Wolfgang tells Gabriel to cut up a dead mummy and get the heart from the mummy. Uncle Wolfgang knew what was going to happen when Gabriel cut up that mummy. Gabriel didn't. It was real voodoo. Whatever happened to the mummy was going to happen to Uncle Wolfgang. So when Gabriel cut up the mummy, Uncle Wolfgang was stabbed to death. Gabriel, and probably everybody who played or watched someone else play this game the first time, was emotionally torn apart by this. Gabriel's anger gave him the strength to lift the lid off the trough.

At the beginning of day 5, Professor Hartridge calls Gabriel to share the information that he learned about the voodoo murders. The murderers catch him doing this, and he is strangled to death while talking to Gabriel. Gabriel goes to his office to find the poor man dead. Gabriel finds notes about the murderers on Hartridge's desk. These notes help convince Detective Mosely to get back on the Voodoo Murders case. Hence, while Professor Hartirdge died a very unfortunate death by being dragged into an unfortunate situation, at least he died a hero. The murderers could not have been stopped without Professor Hartridge's help.

Dr. John says that voodoo was created from the African slave trade. It is a mix of African religions and Christianity. Eventually, slaves were able to gather in New Orleans and create their form of voodoo. Later in the game you learn that the slaves rebelled against and killed their white owners.

Le Serpent Rouge (The Red Snake) is a document with a riddle. At Chateau de Blanchefort, Estelle and Lady Howard talk about it, drawing the attention of several other people there. Grace decides that it's important to learn about this document. Estelle has a copy of it, but she and Lady Howard learn not to discus it in front of the tour group and tell Grace nothing about it. Emilio also has a copy. He initially tells Grace that he can't help her. Madeline is interested in the document too. Of these choices, only Buccelli isn't interested in it.

Gabriel goes to the cafeteria to get some coffee. Mosely is sitting at the table reading the newspaper. Mosely spots Gabriel and greets him. Both of them are shocked, so they both ask what each other was doing here. Neither of them get an answer right away. Gabriel answers Mosely in the next time segment. Mosely doesn't answer Gabriel until much later in the game.

It's possible that Grace shows Gabriel the letter some time between the final puzzle of the game and the ending, but there really wouldn't be that much point to it at that point. If you try to get Grace to show him the letter, Grace will always say that she'll show him the letter eventually. But it never happens during the game at least. Grace is afraid Gabriel will choose to be Von Glower's lifelong companion. During the ending, though, Gabriel says that he would not have chosen that.

Gabriel learns that the zoo wolves were sent to Dorn, who exported them to China. Gabriel surmises that the killer wanted the wolves sent to China so the police would never find them, and they would give up on finding the killer or continue a never-ending wild goose chase. Another bad thing is that Dorn does not believe that the zoo wolves are okay. He was told they were going to a zoo in China, but he believes they're being sent to a restaurant. He believes they eat wolves in China. Dr. Klingman, when he learns all of this information from Gabriel, also does not believe his wolves are okay. Maybe it's a good thing we never find out the fate of the zoo wolves.

Leber admits he did not really think the zoo wolves were the killers because the evidence on the killer doesn't match the zoo wolves. He just wanted the press to believe that because he didn't have any better ideas. Leber's best guess is that the reason he hasn't been able to find the animal is because it's going into someone's home. When Gabriel asks Leber if he thinks it might be a werewolf, Leber just gives him a skeptical look that says it all. Gabriel then realizes that, once again, he will have to do the police's job for them. Leber is open to the idea that it could be a wild wolf, but that answer is wrong because because Leber didn't make that suggestion. It was Gabriel who made that suggestion, to which Leber responded "Could be."

Answer: She steals it from Gerde's bedroom

Gerde doesn't give Grace the key because Gerde is the one who is used to doing the research for the Schattenjager (she did it for Wolfgang). Gerde barely knows Grace, and doesn't want her getting involved. However, Grace gave up her P.H.D. to help the man that she loves, and wasn't going to let someone prettier than her do the research. So Grace finds a secret passage in the closet in Gabriel's bedroom, and finds a pathway that leads to Gerde's bedroom. There she finds the Schattenjager key. When Gerde finds Grace in the library, Grace yells at Gerde and insist that she will do the research. Gerde obliges, and walks away crying. Grace is, at times, an incredibly mean human being. I don't enjoy playing as her.

Excluding remakes and fan games, this is the only game in the series where Gabriel is not portrayed by Tim Curry. "Gabriel Knight 2" is an interactive movie. The actors are seen, not just heard. Jane Jensen did not think Tim Curry looked like her vision of Gabriel, so she got someone else to do it, and that someone else is Dean Erickson. As a result, Gabriel looks and sounds nothing like he does in the other games. He also has a very different character in this game. The Gabriel of the first game was an arrogant, sexist rogue. The Gabriel of the second game is still a rogue at times, but he's no longer the other two things, making him far more likeable. I like Tim Curry's voice but I don't really miss him in "Gabriel Knight 2". Gerde is also completely different in this game than she was in the first one. Conversely, the Grace of this game is very similar to the Grace of the first game even though it is a different actress.

Gabriel learns from Detective Mosely that the murderers are targeting mainly out-of-towners. Unfortunately, Gabriel does not mention this to Grace, who is from Japan. Therefore, Grace does not know that she is in trouble. She knows that Gabriel is in trouble and strongly urges him to get out of New Orleans. However, she does not do so herself. She gets kidnapped right before Gabriel returns to New Orleans.

Answer: The Voodoo Museum

There are not many ways to die in this game. Truth be told, by the time I got to this point in the game the first time I played it, I had concluded you can't die in this game. I was quite surprised when I learned I was wrong. It could have been an even bigger shock but fortunately I had saved the game at the beginning of the day so I lost no progress. On day 5, Dr. John gets a message saying to keep an eye on Gabriel but do not harm him. Dr. John assumes that means do not DIRECTLY harm him, so instead of choking Gabriel to death himself, Dr. John sets a trap in his museum. He expects Gabriel to come into his museum, so he leaves the door unlocked and lets his snakes out of the cage. When Gabriel walks into the museum, it is dark and the snake attacks Gabriel. The snake kills Gabriel unless he turns on the light. The light switch terrifies the snake somehow. Once the snake is off Gabriel, Dr. John walks in and apologizes to Gabriel, telling him that the museum was closed. Of course leaving the door unlocked and the snake out of its cage is a pretty stupid thing to do if the museum is closed. So Gabriel begins to suspect that Dr. John is one of the murderers. The trap ends up backfiring on Dr. John. Gabriel was able to get a scale off of the Voodoo Museum snake and he saw that it matches the scale from the lake where the murders took place right before the start of the game. This evidence convinces the police to re-open the Voodoo Murders case. Thank you Dr. John. We would not have been able to stop you without your help.

Madame Cazanoux will not see a priest who is poorly groomed. Therefore, Gabriel must put gel in his hair, as much as he hates to. He also must disguise his voice so he sounds like a real priest.

Dr. John tells Gabriel what many people in New Orleans (in this game at least) believe, the voodoo queen of New Orleans was Marie Laveau. There were two Marie Laveaus, mother and daughter. Most people thought they were the same person, and that it what they wanted everyone to believe. Later, you find out that neither Marie Laveau was truly the Voodoo Queen of New Orleans and Dr. John probably knew that.
