Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. How much money did Grossberg owe to Dorn?

Answer: $14,000

Gabriel shows Leber some evidence that he has information on the killer. In return, Leber shows Gabriel a ledger of the money Grossberg owed to Dorn, a man who deals with animals illegally. Gabriel then steals the ledger and tells Leber what he knows about the killer, except that Gabriel gives Leber the wrong location of the hunt club when he realizes the SWAT team is going in on them.

Gabriel goes to Dorn's place and tells him he is Grossberg's financial associate. Upon learning that Dorn won't talk to him until he gives him the $14,000, Gabriel goes to Ubergrau and fetches $14,000 from the Ritter account and gives it to Dorn. Dorn lets him and talks to him.
2. Where were the zoo wolves exported to?

Answer: China

Gabriel learns that the zoo wolves were sent to Dorn, who exported them to China. Gabriel surmises that the killer wanted the wolves sent to China so the police would never find them, and they would give up on finding the killer or continue a never-ending wild goose chase.

Another bad thing is that Dorn does not believe that the zoo wolves are okay. He was told they were going to a zoo in China, but he believes they're being sent to a restaurant. He believes they eat wolves in China. Dr. Klingman, when he learns all of this information from Gabriel, also does not believe his wolves are okay. Maybe it's a good thing we never find out the fate of the zoo wolves.
3. What were the names of the released zoo wolves?

Answer: Hilda and Parsival

Dorn tells Gabriel that the wolves were kept in a cage that is now inhabited by a tiger. Gabriel reaches his hand into the tiger cage and gets the tags of Hilda and Parsival (but not before giving the tiger some meat to calm him down) to show to Dr. Klingman and evidence that he knows what's going on.
4. Since there aren't enough rooms at the hunting lodge for everybody, now that the lodge has one new member, Von Glower asks which two men to share a room?

Answer: Henneman and Preiss

Curiously, Gabriel gets his own room. In the real world, situations like this are usually decided by seniority. In such a case, Gabriel would be asked to share a room with Dr. Klingman. However, this is not the real world. So Henneman and Preiss are asked to share a room.

Henneman tells Gabriel that he (Gabriel) has already become the club's most popular member, which is why the man who formerly had that unofficial position, Von Zell, hates him.
5. When Gabriel interrogates Von Aigner, what is Von Aigner doing (besides drinking)?

Answer: Taking a bath

Yes, for some reason Von Aigner lets Gabriel come into his room and talk to him while he is taking a bath. Just what this game needed, an old naked man. Fortunately, you can't see too much of him, as the tub covers up anything that would have to be censored.
6. Which of the victims did Von Aigner know personally before any of the other club members?

Answer: Grossberg

Gabriel learned in chapter 3 that Von Aigner knew Grossberg personally. Von Aigner told at least one of the other club members about Grossberg. That led to bad things.
7. What does Von Aigner say that contradicts what Dr. Klingman said earlier in the game?

Answer: There are wolves in the woods

Dr. Klingman said wolves are extinct in Germany except in the Alps. The hunting lodge is in a forest nowhere near the Alps. Von Aigner says that Dr. Klingman must be mistaken. Von Aigner says he hears wolves in the woods at night. We know that Dr. Klingman is NOT mistaken. The wolves that Von Aigner hears are actually werewolves.
8. Who brought Dr. Klingman into the club?

Answer: Von Zell

When Gabriel learns that Dr. Klingman is Henneman's best friend in the club, Gabriel asks Henneman if he was the one who invited Klingman to the club. Henneman says it was Von Zell.
9. What does Gabriel find in Preiss's bedroom?

Answer: Rope

Gabriel looks through Preiss's bedroom while Preiss is in the bathroom. He doesn't find any incriminating evidence. He just finds a tool he can use to get into someone else's bedroom.
10. What did Grossberg do to one of the club members that got himself killed?

Answer: He blackmailed one of them

In one of the bedrooms, Gabriel finds a ledger book, complete with a list of the amounts of money each club member owed him. Also in the book, he finds a letter from Grossberg. Grossberg said he was worried when he read the newspaper and saw that the zoo wolves were being blamed for the local murders. Grossberg and this other club member knew that the zoo wolves were innocent because they were sent to China. Grossberg wanted to tell the police that the zoo wolves were innocent, but he said he wouldn't do it if this club member paid him a certain amount of money. What Grossberg did not know was that the club member who he sent this letter to was a werewolf and the one doing the killings. By sending this letter, Grossberg learned that lesson the hard way, and it was too late for him.

Grossberg didn't owe any money to any of the club members. He owed money to Dorn, but Dorn was not a club member and he was not the killer. Interestingly, Grossberg told Dorn that he had a new financial associate and that he'd soon be able to pay him. At first, Dorn thought Grossberg was lying. When Gabriel shows up to Dorn's place with the money Grossberg owed him, Dorn assumes Gabriel was the financial associate Grossberg told him about. Gabriel's detective worth shows him that Dorn was wrong twice. Grossberg really did have a financial associate and it wasn't Gabriel.

Grossberg did send the zoo wolves to China, which may have upset one of the club members. But the club member that was doing the killings wanted the zoo wolves sent to China.
11. In the woods, Gabriel finds wolf prints that lead to a what?

Answer: Cave

Gabriel finds two wolf prints in the woods. These wolf prints are in mud that's the same color as the mud of the footprint found in one of the bathrooms, leading Gabriel to believe these wolf prints and the human print belong to the same person. These prints lead to a cave.

The cave is covered up by a bush, so Gabriel uses shears he found in the tool shed to cut through the bushes and go into the cave. Going into a werewolf cave is something you probably don't want to do. However, if there is one thing that should be said about Gabriel, it's that he is very, very, VERY, brave!
12. Who is the killer?

Answer: Von Zell

When Gabriel finds Von Zell in the wolf cave, there's no longer any doubt. Von Zell is a werewolf, and he is responsible for the killings. Gabriel runs to Von Glower to tell him everything he has learned throughout the game. Von Glower is stunned. Gabriel wants to call Leber and get him to shoot Von Zell, but Von Glower knows that the police would never believe a werewolf did the killings (which Gabriel had already found out) and that ordinary policemen wouldn't be prepared for the paranormal even if they did believe Gabriel. Instead, Von Glower decides that he and Gabriel hunt Von Zell at midnight. They meet at the stable at midnight, and then go out to hunt Von Zell. Along the way, Gabriel loses Von Glower, leaving himself stuck in the middle of the woods by himself with no gun in the middle of the night knowing that there is a killer werewolf out there. Not exactly an enviable position.

The other answers are wrong because the hair sample on the farm was reddish brown, as were all the hair samples Leber had. Those three people all accidently helped Von Zell with the killings, but none of them did so knowingly.
13. What happens if, during the hunt, Gabriel goes to the screen where he cut the bushes?

Answer: He dies

One big rule of "Gabriel Knight" games, do not assume just because you made it far into the game without dying that it is impossible to die in the game. It is possible to die in all "Gabriel Knight" games. The deaths just don't happen until late in the game.

The first possible death in "Gabriel Knight 2" is at the end of chapter 5, where Von Zell can eat Gabriel's throat. This happens if you stay on one screen for too long. It also happens instantly, with the addition of Gabriel saying "dead end," if Gabriel goes to the screen next to the cave, where he found the 2nd wolf print and cut the bushes. Gabriel doesn't push Von Zell to that screen, so Gabriel would only go there if the player makes him got there. Then, it is assumed that Von Zell finds Gabriel there and Von Glower doesn't. Gabriel is then cornered, and when Von Zell leaps at him, Gabriel's fear makes him drop the talisman, which he for some reason holds loosely in his hand not around his neck during the hunt. Without the talisman in his hand, Gabrie is no longer protected, and Von Zell kills him.
14. The killer will bite Gabriel no matter what.

Answer: True

If you do everything you are supposed to do, Von Zell will only bite Gabriel in the leg. The Von Glower will show up, give Gabriel a gun, and then Gabriel will shoot Von Zell. However, since Von Zell is not the alpha wolf, Gabriel will still be a werewolf. You spend the rest of the game trying to rectify that.

If you do something wrong, Von Zell will bite Gabriel's neck and eat out his throat.
15. Who is the black wolf?

Answer: Von Glower

There are subtle hints throughout the game that Von Glower is the black wolf. One hint is Von Glower's reaction when Gabriel asks him about the black wolf. Another hint is he picked up a mask in Brazil, where the Manos del Sol case took place. Another hint is the number of annual missing cases increased in 1970, when Von Glower formed the hunt club. Lastly, Von Glower wears ear plugs during the hunt. Coincidences? Nope.

Unfortunately, Gabriel does not pick up on these things. Gabriel makes the mistake of assuming that there is only one werewolf in the hunting club. Gabriel could have shot Von Glower and ended his werewolf curse in chapter 5, but he didn't because he did not know that Von Glower was the black wolf. Gabriel first learns this from Grace, who finds him at the Huber's home in Locham. Grace had gotten the deed of entitlement to the black wolf, and she saw the name "Von Glower" on it.

She also saw the name "Von Glower" in one of Gabriel's letters. It was then she knew that Gabriel was in serious trouble.

She somehow threatened the elder Huber's life unless he told her where Gabriel was (how Huber was afraid of a little girl is beyond me).She then took him to the Rittersburg dungeon to keep him safe and told him Von Glower was the black wolf.
