Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What time does Gabriel wake up on day 3?

Answer: 2 AM

Gabriel knows Larry Chester is going to wake up at 2 AM, so he tells Jean to tell Simone to buzz his room at 2 AM. Of course you'd think Gabriel would want his room buzzed a little before 2 AM so he'd have time to get to Larry Chester's house before he does whatever he's going to do, but somehow Gabriel makes it to Larry Chester's house in time. That must be one fast Harley!

Larry Chester buries his manuscript. Gabriel digs it up, gets his fingerprint, and gives it to Grace to read. And the music for this segment is awesome.
2. Where does David Teniers' painting, the one that is relevant to the mystery, take place?

Answer: L'ermitage

In the painting at L'ermitage, St. Paul points northeast towards Mount Cardou. The treasure is in a temple under Mount Cardou.
3. The Seal of Solomon is what shape?

Answer: Hexagram

"I lay down one rigid arm at the intersection of the many, and the rest scatter around the crown like jewels." Grace marks the coordinates for the northeast and southwest parts of the hexagram so she can travel to those places later.
4. Who is killed on day 3?

Answer: Wilkes

Gabriel overhears Roxanne and Jean talking in Wilkes' room. Roxanne does not like what she sees in Wilkes' room, so she tells Jean that she fears something bad happened to Wilkes. Jean tries to assure Roxanne that Wilkes is fine. Gabriel trusts Roxanne and does some investigating of his own.

After finding the window wide open in Wilkes' room, Gabriel goes out in the valley to investigate. He finds Wilkes' body at L'homme Mort, which is French for "The dead man" so it's appropriate. Wilkes' throat was cut and his blood was drained into a pool.
5. Gabriel thought he heard the kidnappers say "Holy Grail" in French. What did they actually say?

Answer: Royal blood

Gabriel thought he heard "San Greal," but they actually said "Sang real." So unlike "Conquests of Camelot," we do not actually search for the holy grail in "Gabriel Knight 3." It's just as well. The grail would have judged Gabriel unworthy.
6. Which place is fenced off?

Answer: The northeast arm of the hexagram

Grace goes to all four of these places with a tracker that she stole from Mosely, who stole it from Madeline. She tries to find the exact coordinates with the tracker. At the three wrong answers, she succeeds. However, the northeast arm of the hexagram is fenced off with barbed wire, so she doesn't make it to the northeast part of the hexagram. The only thing she can do there is take a note that was left there. Notes were left at all of these places.

Estelle tells Grace that Dr. Wen found the northeast arm of the hexagram. From that information, we can deduce that Dr. Wen was killed by vampires, who then had the place fenced off.
7. Where was the manuscript buried?

Answer: Orange Rock

At Chateau de Blanchefort, Grace spots a bike parked at an orange rock. If Gabriel has taken all of the license plates, Grace will know whose bike that is without having to look it up in Sydney (apparently she has one heck of a memory!). She goes there, finds a patch of recently disturbed dirt, digs up the manuscript, and takes fingerprints.
8. How many actual treasure seekers were in the tour group?

Answer: Three

The three people who actually were treasure seekers were Estelle, Lady Howard, and Wilkes.

Mosely is with the CIA (Thank god the "Gabriel Knight" universe isn't real life!). Madeline is with the French Internal Secret Service. Buccelli is with the Vatican. They were all in Rennes-les-Chateau because those organizations suspected that something was going on there. None of them knew exactly what that something was until Gabriel told them (Gabriel told Mosely at the beginning of the game. He told the other two near the end of the game when he held a meeting in the cafeteria).

Emilio is the Wandering Jew, and he was actually there to secretly help Gabriel and Grace.
9. What does Gabriel find in the garage at Chateau de Serras?

Answer: Bats

Gabriel makes a second trip to Chateau de Serras. It's closed, so he has to climb the gate to get in. Marceau catches him, but Gabriel asks to see Montreaux again. This request is granted. Gabriel asks Montreux to take Gabriel to the wine cellar. This request is also granted. Montreaux gives Gabriel a wine bottle, which he breaks.

At first, Montreaux says "Don't worry about it." But then Gabriel cuts his arm on the broken glass, and the blood gets into the wine. Then Montreaux gets a hungry look in his face and Gabriel makes a dash to the exit.

But before he leaves entirely, he decides to check the garage, which is now open. He finds the black sedan he had been looking for, as well as a number of bats. Then, if there was any more doubt after that, when Gabriel leaves the garage, Marceau and the two men he was talking with spy him.

The two men were the kidnappers and they recognized Gabriel from the train, so they get in their car and Gabriel gets in his Harley and they chase him. All that ridiculous work that Gabriel put in to getting the Harley in the first place now doesn't seem so bad.
10. Whose fingerprint was on the envelope that contained "Le Serpent Rouge?"

Answer: Estelle

This fingerprint turns out to be a red herring. Emilio was actually the one who left "Le Serpent Rouge" at the door of the museum. The reason Estelle's fingerprint was on it was because Emilio and Estelle accidentally bumped into each other, knocking Emilio's stuff out of his hands. Estelle apologized and picked it up for him.

However, it was Gabriel who saw this, so Grace remains befuddled.
11. Who doesn't leave fingerprints?

Answer: Emilio

When Emilio drank Jesus's blood, he because immortal. Also his fingertips became worn smooth. This is why every time Grace and Gabriel try to take Emilio's fingerprint, they fail.
12. At the chessboard, Gabriel must move like a what?

Answer: Knight

No, it's not because his last name is "Knight". It's because it's the Templar of the knights. But it's not that simple. Gabriel must also touch all of the swords and end up at the door with the circle. In addition, he cannot step on any space more than once and must avoid the skulls and crossbones.
13. Who directly faces off against Gabriel for the final showdown?

Answer: Asmodeus

Asmodeus is a demon whom Montreaux conjured up to protect the temple. Gabriel jumps on the treasure chest to gain some height. Then he scares the demon with the talisman and finishes it off with the dagger. This marks the first and only time the dagger is actually used kill a bad guy. In the first two games, the dagger is only used for minor purposes such as cutting Gabriel's arm for an initiation ritual and removing the screws on a grate so that he can escape through the vent.

Surprisingly, Gabriel never directly faces off against any vampires. Mesmi and Mosely fight Marceau and the two kidnappers and apparently Montreaux was afraid of direct combat with Gabriel.
14. Gabriel's ancestor from 2000 years prior to the events of the game was who?

Answer: The man who nailed Jesus to the cross

As Jesus was dying, Gabriel's ancestor begged for forgiveness, as he did not know who he was crucifying. Jesus forgives him, and tells him that to make up for what he did, he will need to be a servant of the light. Gabriel's ancestor agrees. Upon Jesus's command, Gabriel' ancestor raises his sword (the dagger) to Jesus lips so it can be enchanted with his kiss. Jesus also gives him the talisman to guard against supernatural evil beings.

This is how Gabriel's family started becoming Schattenjagers.
15. What country does Grace go to at the end of the game?

Answer: India

Grace goes to India so she can learn how to be a Schattenjager. She leaves before Gabriel returns from his victory. Gabriel returns to his hotel to find a note from Grace. Gabriel's victory becomes a pyrrhic victory.

Of course the real tragedy is that there hasn't been a new "Gabriel Knight" game between 1998 and 2016.
