Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Only three explorable areas make up the 'overworld' of the Charr Homelands. Which of these isn't one of the three Charr areas?

Answer: Iron Marches

Divided into three areas, the Charr Homelands is littered with enemies and can be quite difficult to navigate safely. Grothmar Wardowns is the first area that players will venture through, before (most likely) heading through to Dalada Uplands to the region's main town. Sacnoth Valley, arguably one of the game's most unforgiving explorable areas, is located to the south, with exits to two distinct, difficult dungeons and a bevy of belligerent beasts and bullying bosses in between.
2. To reach the Charr Homelands, which outpost must players pass through?

Answer: Longeye's Ledge

As players venture east through the Far Shiverpeaks, they can find shelter at Longeye's Ledge, the easternmost outpost of the Far Shiverpeaks and a mandatory thoroughfare to reach the Charr Homelands. Connecting Bjora Marches with Grothmar Wardowns, Longeye's Ledge is overseen by Olfun Longeye himself, a norn who offers players the primary quest 'Search for the Ebon Vanguard', which continues the game's story and ultimately leads to the Charr's regional town.
3. In an region relatively devoid of safe havens, where will players find the main town, Doomlore Shrine, in the only explorable area it is connected to?

Answer: In the northwest

Doomlore Shrine is one of only two places of respite in the perilous Charr Homelands (the other being Longeye's Ledge, which is on the border of the Charr Homelands and the Far Shiverpeaks). From here, players can get together and explore and possibly vanquish Dalada Uplands, or tackle the dangers afoot in the Cathedral of Flames.

As with many other locations in the game, passing through Doomlore Shrine is mandatory, as the primary quest 'Warband of Brothers' sends players into the Cathedral itself in search of Pyre Fierceshot's missing warband brothers.
4. Four equally perilous dungeon instances can be accessed from the Charr Homelands. Which of these has the westernmost entrance?

Answer: Ooze Pit

Ooze Pit is accessed from Grothmar Wardowns and, as the name suggests, is dominated by oozes, elemental creatures that have the ability to divide and combine. In order to complete the dungeon, the quest 'Watch It Jiggle' needs to be obtained by at least one party member from Seer Fiercereign, outside Doomlore Shrine.

The ultimate battle sees players taking on the Prismatic Oozes, a set of three powerful elementalist oozes that each spawn lesser oozes upon their deaths.
5. The body of which Elder Dragon can be physically seen when venturing through the Charr Homelands?

Answer: Kralkatorrik

To most players, this sharp, pointed, almost rocky outcrop dividing the three zones of the Charr Homelands appears to be nothing but an insurmountable boundary, but upon closer examination, it is revealed to be part of the dormant body of Kralkatorrik, one of the Elder Dragons.

While Kralkatorrik does not appear to be active during the events of "Guild Wars: Eye of the North", it definitely awakens some two hundred and fifty years later before the events of "Guild Wars 2", when the devastating effects of its immense power can be seen, searing a huge area of Ascalon with its corruption. Each of the Elder Dragons has at least one champion, a lesser, subservient entity possessing considerable power. Though it isn't revealed in "Guild Wars: Eye of the North", Kralkatorrik's champion is in fact Glint, an invaluable ally to players who turned her back on Kralkatorrik and aided players during the "Guild Wars: Prophecies" campaign.
6. Players wishing to participate in the asuran game of Polymock will find themselves in which Polymock arena when battling against opponents in the Charr Homelands?

Answer: Polymock Crossing

In the game of Polymock, players choose three of their best pieces and, one at a time, attempt to defeat their opponent's chosen pieces before they themselves are defeated. Players can face the charr Polymock player Dune Teardrinker in the Polymock Crossing arena and, if all goes well, can reward successful players with the Aloe Seed Polymock piece.
7. It is possible to visit the same Cauldron of Cataclysm in the Charr Homelands that caused the Searing and devastated Ascalon in "Guild Wars: Prophecies".

Answer: False

During the early section of "Guild Wars: Prophecies", fire and brimstone and crystal rained down upon the kingdom of Ascalon and tore it to shreds, courtesy of the dark magic of the Charr and the Cauldron of Cataclysm. The cauldron was located in what was once called the Northlands.

While there is another cauldron in Sacnoth Valley, the one that caused the Searing only reappears in the Ruins of Surmia mission of "Guild Wars: Prophecies". In "Guild Wars 2", this cauldron can be found in the Iron Marches, where it is studied by members of the Durmand Priory and offers players a skill point.
8. Rragar Maneater, the final boss of Rragar's Menagerie, fights alongside his fleshreaver pet. What is its name?

Answer: Hidesplitter

At the end of the third level of Rragar's Menagerie, a dungeon found in the southwestern corner of Sacnoth Valley, resides Rragar Maneater, a mesmer/monk, and Hidesplitter, a paragon. This final boss fight involves taking on both foes at once, though it is advised to focus fire on Rragar first, as he has the ability to resurrect Hidesplitter should it go down before him. To make things just a little bit harder, Rragar can hex targets with his special monster skill, The Master's Mark, and Hidesplitter can hit anyone hexed with this skill with a powerful knockdown attack.

Interruptions are, therefore, useful skills to use against this formidable duo.
9. Two heroes can be added to your party in the Charr Homelands. One is Pyre Fierceshot, whose recruitment is part of the storyline and cannot be circumvented. Who is the other hero, whose recruitment is entirely optional?

Answer: Anton

Anton is an adept assassin and former prisoner, before he joined the Ebon Vanguard and their campaign against the charr. After players complete the primary quest 'The Missing Vanguard', Captain Langmar, leader of the Ebon Vanguard, offers a series of quests which culminate in the recruitment of Anton to the player's party.

As stated before, this is entirely optional and not required in order to complete the game. Despite being an assassin, players who do not have 'Guild Wars: Factions', in which the assassin profession was introduced, are not precluded from recruiting Anton.
10. In the 'Assault on the Stronghold' quest, the elite charr shaman Burntsoul has what title?

Answer: Hierophant

As part of the Flame Legion of charr, Hierophant Burntsoul is hellbent on bringing chaos and destruction upon the world, using dark magic granted to him by the Titan 'gods' and channelling it through destructive cauldrons, like the Cauldron of Cataclysm which destroyed Ascalon (though this was caused by Bonfaaz Burntfur, a possible warband-mate of Burntsoul due to their names).

In 'Assault on the Stronghold', players rally together with Pyre Fierceshot and his warband to break into the charr stronghold in Sacnoth Valley and rescue the captive Ebon Vanguard soldiers, before finally defeating Hierophant Burntsoul once and for all.
