"Guild Wars: Eye of the North" - Tarnished Coast Quiz

Answer: Rata Sum

After the asura were driven from their subterranean dwellings by the movements of the destroyers, they sought refuge on the surface of Tyria, in an area to the south of the Maguuma Jungle, known as the Tarnished Coast. They set up a city, Rata Sum, and began to build and harness the power of the environment to ensure they were secure and not threatened by the destroyers again. Players can find their way to Rata Sum by travelling from Umbral Grotto, through the depths of the Vloxen Excavations, and up through Arbor Bay and Riven Earth.

This is not an easy journey to take, with few places for respite in between.

Answer: Shards of Orr

Located deep beneath the Sea of Sorrows and populated by hordes of undead is the Shards of Orr dungeon. Fendi Nin, a powerful undead necromancer, is the final boss of the dungeon, though his soul, which separates from his body, must be destroyed in order for him to be defeated.

Answer: Manifestation

Standing for "Genius Operated Living Enchanted Manifestation", this mission begins with a bit of "base defence" as players fight off oncoming Destroyers as two golems charge up. When they are ready, players accompany the newly charged golems to destroy a Destroyer hive threatening Rata Sum. This mission ends the asuran questline "The Knowledgeable Asura".

Answer: Raptor

In its heyday, the raptor farm outside Rata Sum was a veritable goldmine for players wishing to grind out their asuran allegiance title. As a result of this, the supply of the unique item dropped by Rekoff, the Claws of the Broodmother, was high and the demand was next to nothing. During special events, like Wintersday or Canthan New Year, the hot-spot was popular with people wishing to farm special festival item drops. With regards to the encounter, regular parties arriving in the raptor cave may find the boss and her hatchlings a slight annoyance to deal with, owing to their constant interruption of skills.

Answer: Alcazia Tangle

Players wishing to visit Tarnished Haven will need to travel through at least two explorable areas to reach it from another outpost or town. The outpost itself contains the usual troupe of NPCs: Xunlai agents, a merchant, an assembly of henchman. But one particular quest-giver can provide players with some unique asura PVE-only skills for completing his chain of quests.

These quests will send players back through the lands of 'Eye of the North', defeating special foes and discovering some puzzling secrets.

Answer: Slaver's Exile

Slaver's Exile's elite dungeon status refers to the fact that it is actually four dungeons rolled into one. Four bosses reside at the end of three paths - Selvetarm, a dryder; Forgewight, an elemental; Rand Stormweaver and Justiciar Thommis, a centaur and White Mantle knight, respectively.

The dungeon's final boss, a powerful Stone Summit ritualist called Duncan the Black. Thankfully, the dungeon doesn't have to be completed all in one sitting. Upon entering, players receive a quest entitled "The Last Hierophant", which tracks their progress through the dungeon and updates every time one of the intermediate bosses is killed. Thus, they can be killed in any order and in any mode (normal or hard), with the exception of Duncan the Black, who can only be fought once the previous four are out of the way.

Answer: Mirage Iboga Polymock Piece

Players battle each other using their Polymock pieces. Each piece has a unique combination of three skills, with the remaining five skill slots filled with general utility skills shared amongst all Polymock pieces. The mirage iboga uses three special Polymock versions of mesmer skills: Overload, Calculated Risk and Recurring Insecurity.

Answer: Verdant Cascades

Just outside Umbral Grotto, players can talk to a norn called Ulfarr Leadfoot and participate in a race. As well as being fast, Ulfarr also plays dirty if he thinks he is going to lose. He will switch the position of the finish line if he falls too far behind in an attempt to catch up and win.

The way to overcome this is to wait at the point where the two race paths branch off, provided players know the routes, and continue on to the correct finish line once Ulfarr catches up.

Answer: Tending to a special tree

Ventari was first met in "Guild Wars: Prophecies" at his refuge in the Maguuma Jungle. In "Eye of the North", he can be found in his sanctuary in Arbor Bay, nurturing and looking after a special tree, grown from a seed given to Ventari by his human friend, Ronan.

While the tree is in its early stages during the events of "Eye of the North", it grows over the 250 years between "Guild Wars" and "Guild Wars 2" and eventually becomes the Pale Tree, the mother of the newly-created sylvari race.

Answer: Increased maximum energy

For each rank a player has in their asuran allegiance title, the more maximum energy they will receive from the title's innate Edification effect. This ranges from 5 additional energy at rank 1 to 15 additional energy at rank 10. Each of these effects for each race's allegiance title does not appear automatically; talking to a talent scouts in the respective capital cities with at least rank 1 allegiance will unlock the passive effect.

Increased maximum health is attributed to the norn, increased armour against charr to the Ebon Vanguard and life stealing against destroyers is a dwarven title bonus.
