"Guild Wars: Prophecies" - Crystal Desert Quiz

The primary quest, "Sands of Souls", obtained in The Amnoon Oasis, leads players to Augury Rock. From there, players must travel to each of the three desert missions: Dunes of Despair, Elona Reach, and Thirsty River. Completion of these three missions will change Augury Rock from an outpost to a mission location.

The Augury Rock mission is a solo mission, and the player must defeat their Doppelganger, who will use the same build as the player. Upon killing the Doppelganger, the player will be Ascended, and will arrive at The Dragon's Lair, the last of the missions in the Crystal Desert.

Answer: Monk

Kepkhet is popular among farmers as the unique weapon she drops is particularly useful for Monks. Surrounding her is a circle of Scarabs that can overwhelm an unprepared party. However, a well-chosen farming build can make short work of Kepkhet.

Answer: The Amnoon Oasis

The Ghostly Hero can be met for the first time in The Amnoon Oasis, and offers players the quest, "Sands of Souls". The Hero then turns up again in each of the three Desert missions. Players owning the "Nightfall" campaign will know that the Ghostly Hero is actually Turai Ossa, a great Elonian Warrior, who fought against Palawa Joko.

Answer: Wurm

Wurms are highly powerful foes that will pop out of the ground when a player enters its aggravation zone. When the Wurm pops up, it will knock down the target and its surrounding allies. If a party tries to run away from the Wurm, it will burrow underground and chase the player, popping up again when it gets within range.

Answer: Diviner's Ascent

The three outposts are scattered throughout the Desert, and contain many ghostly NPCs. The quest, "The Hero's Journey", acquired from Vanyi in Droknar's Forge, asks players to visit each of the three outposts. Upon completion of this quest, players will receive, from Vanyi, "The Hero's Challenge".

This quest is particular important to "Prophecies" characters, as it allows them to obtain 15 Attribute Points.

Answer: Serpent

The Forgotten are a race of ancient creatures, brought to Tyria by the Gods to aid the great dragon, Glint. Their primary purpose was to instruct and guide the other races and keep the balance between races. However, with the arrival of humans, the Forgotten withdrew to the Crystal Desert, away from human contact, where they became a myth.

Answer: Margonite

Margonites once inhabited the Crystal Desert, and sought to Ascend, just as players do in the Augury Rock mission. However, the Margonites thought that they had to literally ascend, and so built Ascension towers, stretching high into the sky, closer to the Gods. They failed, like many other races, thinking that Ascension meant physically journeying to the Gods.

Answer: No

Despite the name, Elona Reach is merely a mission that sees players collecting Vision Crystals in the quest to Ascend. However, it is possible to access Elona from the Crystal Desert, but it requires "Nightfall" to be on the same account. Journeying to the southern end of The Arid Sea, players will meet a Forgotten Guardian, who will activate a teleporter and send players to Crystal Overlook, in the Desolation of Elona.

This will only work if the player has previously visited the teleporter on the Elona side.

Answer: Augury Rock

The Doppelganger waits inside the giant Augury Mesa, which can only be accessed once the three Desert missions are complete. The Doppelganger will use the exact same skill set as the player, and will use it to defeat the player. However, players with access to PvE-only skills, such as those acquired in "Eye of the North" or the skills linked to the Luxon and Kurzick allegiance ranks, can be used against the Doppelganger without it using them back.

Answer: North

Dubbed "The New Underworld", the Tomb of the Primeval Kings is a set of four explorable areas, each offering very difficult foes, but a host of unique items. The four areas are The Underworld (not to be confused with the real Underworld), Scarred Earth, The Courtyard, and The Hall of Heroes. The Darknesses wait in the Hall of Heroes, and upon slaying them, will drop rare unique items.
