Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. How many cooperative missions are there in Ascalon?

Answer: Four

The Great Northern Wall is the first mission in the campaign, and introduces players to the concept of missions. The primary goal of the Ascalon missions is to track down and kill Bonfaaz Burntfur, the leader of the Charr forces in Ascalon. This mini-story arc leads players through The Great Northern Wall, Fort Ranik, Ruins and Surmia, and finally to Nolani Academy where Bonfaaz is defeated.
2. During the events of "Guild Wars: Prophecies", what is the capital city of Ascalon?

Answer: Rin

Although Rin is the current capital of Ascalon, it doesn't actually appear as a staging area, rather, it is in ruins. Ascalon City is the largest and most important city in Ascalon, but players should not confuse it as the capital city of Ascalon. Drascir was the former capital, however, it fell long ago to the Charr.
3. Ashford Abbey, in Pre-Searing, has changed to what, in Post-Searing?

Answer: Sardelac Sanitarium

Once Ashford Abbey, the home to devout followers of Dwayna, Sardelac Sanitarium now houses those whose minds have been harmed during the Searing. Among the ill is Fadden Hathorn, who might be remembered from Pre-Searing as an experienced Devourer Egg collector. However, upon completion of the "Experimental Elixir" quest, Fadden is cured of his state of mind.
4. The quest, "Cities of Ascalon", requires you to find three monuments scattered throughout Ascalon. The reward for the quest, however, is very valuable to Monks wishing to farm with a particular build. The reward is a Grim Cesta, which reduces the holder's health by how much?

Answer: 50 HP

The three monuments involved in the quest are located at major landmarks in Ascalon. One monument is in Nolani, one in Surmia, and one at King's Watch, in Regent Valley.
5. Which of these types of Charr will you NOT encounter in Ascalon?

Answer: Charr Flameshielder

For lower level characters venturing through The Breach and Diessa Lowlands, the Charr can put up a considerable fight. It pays to know what type of Charr you are dealing with, so your party can coordinate tactics. Mind Sparks, Blade Storms and Ashen Claws are found in Ascalon, whereas Flameshielders are found in the Charr Homelands, north of Ascalon, in the "Eye of the North" expansion.
6. You might remember Sir Tydus from Pre-Searing. His title has since changed. What is he known as now?

Answer: Warmaster Tydus

Warmaster Tydus now coordinates the efforts of the Ascalon resistance force, and offers players their first quests in Ascalon City. Upon close inspection, it seems that Tydus lost or damaged his eye during the Searing, which would explain why he now wears an eye patch on his left eye.
7. What is the name of the fabled mouth piece of the Horn of King Doric, found in the Ruins of Surmia mission?

Answer: Stormcaller

The Horn of King Doric is said to have the power to defeat any invading army, so players, along with Prince Rurik, must fight their way through the masses of Charr to reach the Horn, whereupon Rurik will attach the mouthpiece of the horn, called Stormcaller. A torrent of rain will blanket the area, making all Charr have 100 less maximum health.
8. Dragon's Gullet is one of several 'doubly remote' explorable areas in Tyria. A 'doubly remote' area is one that is separated from an outpost by two explorable areas. Which two areas must you go through to reach Dragon's Gullet, if leaving from Grendich Courthouse?

Answer: Diessa Lowlands & Flame Temple Corridor

Dragon's Gullet houses some of the foulest creatures in Ascalon. A large lake of tar forms the central part of the area, and Abominations and Hydra patrol frequently, making this area particularly difficult for unprepared travellers. After completion of the campaign, the quest "The Titan Source" takes place in Dragon's Gullet, where players must destroy several Titan Lords.
9. If you were standing slap bang in the middle of Old Ascalon, in which direction would the portal to The Breach be?

Answer: North-west

For the geographically curious among you, the portal to The Breach is located to the northwest, Ascalon City to the north-east, and Regent Valley to the south-east. The centre of Old Ascalon is just a short walk out of Sardelac Sanitarium.
10. Heading through the last area of Ascalon, you will encounter some dangerous foes known as Hydra. What profession are these three-headed monsters?

Answer: Elementalist

Unprepared travellers will find Ascalon Foothills a very dangerous place, full of deadly Hydra which will use their powerful Fire Magic spells to wipe you out. Be wary of Meteor, which will knock you down and any allies next to you.
