Hopping Around the Crystal Desert Quiz

Answer: Amnoon Oasis

The Amnoon Oasis is the only home to living NPCs in the entire Crystal Desert, as all of the other locations in the area are occupied by spirits. Once players have completed the Krytan mission, 'Sanctum Kay', they will be sent to this location in the southeast of Tyria.

The Amnoon Arena is also connected to this area, but it is only accessible if you make your way through the Random/Team Arenas.

Answer: Siege Wurm

At one point during your desert trek, you will be able to complete three separate missions in any order. On of these (probably with the most difficult bonus mission) is Dunes of Despair in the southwest of the Crystal Desert. This mission is only accessible if you make your way through Vulture Drifts. During this mission, you will need to protect a Ghostly Hero as he performs a ritual in the center of a slew of enemies. For the bonus, you'll need to strategize and send some party members into the surrounding desert ruins to defeat three Forgotten Generals and their bodyguards.

Answer: Southeast

The second of the three Crystal Desert missions that can be beaten in any order, Thirsty River is not actually a river anymore. Like the rest of the desert, it's a pile of dunes. In this mission, you and your party will need to defeat six different heroes and priests around the river in order to complete it.

The bonus involves protecting King Khimmar's spirit- in the center of three large groups of enemies.

Answer: Diviner's Ascent

The northern-most of the three interchangeable Crystal Desert missions is Elona Reach, where the objective is to acquire three Crystal Shards to create a Vision Crystal. This mission is often regarded as an easier one in the Crystal Desert as there's usually a bunch of people available for a party. The bonus objective involves awakening Ritual Priests during the process.

Finally you can put that Signet of Capture to work! Before, you could only capture Non-Elite Skills, but now, when you try you signet on most bosses, they'll often be carrying a skill with a gold border on its icon. This is an Elite Skill, and due to its immense strength and power, you can only hold one of these on your skill bar at a time.

Answer: Veldt Beetle

Odds are, you probably won't even catch a glimpse of a Veldt Beetle until you step food in the Kournan region of Istan in the Elonan Desert of "Nightfall". As for the rest of the enemies of the Crystal Desert, you'll need to expect stronger foes that southern Krytan packed together with a bit of Earth damage.

Some enemies, such as Hydras, will even pack a punch with fire/knockdown attacks like Meteor. Sand Wurms can also knockdown party members when they rise from the ground.

Answer: Skyward Reach

Although Augury Rock stands as a large outpost in the center of the Crystal Desert, once you complete the three surrounding missions, it will also become a mission outpost. Talk to Great Ritual Priest Zahmut and transport yourself to the mesa in Skyward Reach where you can enter a chamber to defeat your Doppelganger- an identical copy of yourself.

There are no other enemies on the mesa.

Answer: You have Ascended

The whole reason that your character was taken to the Crystal Desert is to gain power through Ascension; a blessing from the Tyrian Gods. Ascension means that you may now enter both the Underworld and the Fissure of Woe, and you may also change your Tyrian character's secondary profession. Once you defeat the Doppelganger, you will be sent across the desert.

Answer: Glint

According to myth, Glint lives in her lair which is in a single grain of sand within the Crystal Desert. Well, the truth is, it has to be bigger, because you and seven other party members can venture through the six domains surrounding her lair and fight her in her final area. You don't need to defeat Glint; it's only for the bonus objective. To do this, simply steal one of the eggs in her chamber and she will become aggressive. Watch out though.

She's one of the more powerful bosses of the game!

Answer: The Desolation

In the southeastern corner of The Arid Sea, you can meet a Forgotten Guardian who will send you to the Crystal Overlook if you happen to own the "Nightfall" campaign. The same thing can happen the other way. If you've beaten the Gate of Desolation mission in "Nightfall", then you can travel to Tyria if you have already been to the Amnoon Oasis.
