Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The Gateway Galaxy is home to the first Grand Star. Who do you meet here?

Answer: Rosalina

As soon as Kamek launches Mario into space he'll end up waking up on a small, green planet in the Gateway Galaxy, home to his first mission and a couple of little training modules that will set him up well to understand how different game mechanics work in "Super Mario Galaxy". After locating three Luma bunnies hidden around the planet and catching them, Mario will jet off learning about Star Bits, Sling Stars, and Flipswitches, but not before Rosalina, the protector of the cosmos, gives him Luma's power and allows him to fly through space.

Grabbing the Grand Star at the end of this first mission will allow you to power up the Comet Observatory from which you'll have a series of hub worlds to start your adventure in earnest.
2. On the Loopdeeloop Galaxy, Mario rides on the back of which of these?

Answer: Ray

The first Mystery Galaxy Mario can open up is the Loopdeeloop Galaxy, and it appears once he's collected five total Power Stars from the first few Galaxies of the game (that includes the Gateway Galaxy). Home to a single star, as these smaller areas are wont to be, the only Mission Mario will need to face here is called Surfing 101, and it'll have him learning how to get onto the back of a Ray and use the controls to race around a narrow, watery course. If he can beat the lap time of ninety seconds he'll get his Power Star.
3. The Flipswitch Galaxy has Mario painting the planet what colour?

Answer: Yellow

The planet at this Mystery Galaxy (found in the Terrace after Mario collects seven Power Stars) is already blue at the start of this Mission, but the goal will be to Paint the Planet Yellow, and this is done simply by walking or jumping around, flipping panels to the proper colour for the prompt.

This may seem easy, but Mario will need to navigate the planet on three planes and he'll need to do so while dodging obstacles of all sorts.
4. In the Rolling Green Galaxy, how does Mario control the ball?

Answer: From on top of it

The Rolling Green Galaxy is meant to evoke the idea of a golf course as Mario starts from the tee-off and has to get a ball into the hole at the end. Doing this, however, requires some tactical maneuvering as, on top of the ball, Mario can only travel around by shifting the controller in different directions, using the lean to push the ball and the Power Star inside (though he can also jump).

This Galaxy, and its sole Mission (Rolling in the Clouds), is found in the Fountain Dome after you collect eleven Power Stars.
5. Besides on the starting platform, how many times will Mario end up with his feet on solid ground in the Sling Pod Galaxy?

Answer: None

A Galaxy created by feeding the Hungry Luma who appears next to the Terrace Dome (at a cost of 400 Star Bits), the Sling Pod Galaxy relies almost entirely on your ability to point with accuracy and fling Mario across the great expanses of space using Sling Pods (which he may encounter, earlier, in the Space Junk Galaxy).

The Mission here is rife with obstacles, but the real difficulty will likely be in getting the exact lines to link up, otherwise Mario will plummet into a black hole.
6. Mario floats around over a poisonous swamp in what Galaxy found in the Kitchen Dome?

Answer: Bubble Breeze Galaxy

The first of two Mystery Galaxies in the Kitchen Dome, the Bubble Breeze Galaxy unlocks when Mario has nineteen Power Stars in-hand and it gives him the first chance to drift around in a bubble. Although this Galaxy is situated in the middle of a toxic swamp that is otherwise uncrossable, Mario can pop himself into a provided bubble and drift on the winds-- either those created by giant fans or those he creates by pointing a fan device of his own (with a Wii Remote, for instance).

Naturally, there are sharp obstacles that get in the way, but some tactful maneuvering will get him to the end.
7. The only actual foes to encounter in the Honeyclimb Galaxy are which of these?

Answer: Mandibugs

Just as Mario faced in the Honeyhive Galaxy, the Mandibugs return in this Mystery Galaxy from the Bedroom Dome. For this one, all Mario needs to do is scale the honeycomb walls on the trio of planets set before him. The catch is that this will require him to buzz around on moving panels while also dodging waiting Mandibugs and, in some spots, falling meteors. Getting hit by any of these spells near-certain doom as a collision will knock the bee powers right off Mario and he'll plummet, often directly into a black hole.
8. In the Sand Spiral Galaxy, Mario will need to choose between two power-ups to navigate the Mission. Which is one of them?

Answer: Bee Mushroom

The Mission Mario encounters here, in this Hungry Luma Galaxy created outside the Engine Room Dome (for one thousand Star Bits), involves entering a massive cistern of flowing sand, and the only way to get through to the other side (and a massive obstacle leading to the Power Star) is by choosing one of two options-- either he can become a Bee or a Boo. Becoming the Bee means needing to preserve energy to fly over and around obstacles while being a Boo means dodging overhead lighting fixtures to make it to the end. One wrong move could spell a slide into the sand.
9. The Matter Splatter Galaxy is found in which Comet Observatory Dome?

Answer: The Garden

The final Mystery Galaxy found within a Dome, the Matter Splatter Galaxy appears to be a bit of a bonus, testing not only Mario's ability to think fast, but his luck. Similar to the segment of Ghostly Galaxy wherein Mario has to move on appearing and disappearing platforms, this region has him navigating much of the same, only in increasingly more difficult planets that send him sidescrolling and into Spring Mario form to get to where he needs to be.

This planet opens up with fifty Power Stars.
10. The Spooky Speedster in Boo's Boneyard Galaxy is, in fact, a Boo.

Answer: True

One of the last Mystery Galaxies Mario will stumble across in the game, Boo's Boneyard Galaxy is found if you feed the Hungry Luma outside the Gate Dome a total of 1,200 Star Bits, opening a pathway to a racecourse inside a skull-shaped planet that you can only complete if you take on the form of Boo Mario. To win, you need to descend through a tricky obstacle course while facing off against the Spooky Speedster, previously seen in the Ghostly Galaxy. You'll need to finish the course in around fifty seconds to win the prize.
