Question 8 of 10
8. Bob flopped down on the couch. "Whew! All this moving around is getting me tired! Have you got anything I can just sit still and play with my brain?"

"I've got one here that will fit the bill. It's got chess, checkers, backgammon... twelve different games you can play sitting still! It's called 'Ultimate _____ _____ Collection.'"

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. When Bob arrived to my Wii party, I was quick to settle him down in front of the flat screen. I blustered at him, "I can't believe you've never played Wii before! It seems like I've had mine forever! I got it when it first released." Bob asked, "When was that?"

Answer: 2006

Nintendo released the Wii in late 2006. It was the fifth game console released by the company, following the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) in 1983, the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) in 1990, the Nintendo 64 (N64) in 1996, and the Nintendo GameCube in 2001.
2. "Before we get started, Bob, let's create a profile for you. You can make your virtual player look just like you, if you want to." "That's pretty cool," Bob replied. He then proceeded to create a character that looked more like Santa Claus than it did himself. What name did Nintendo come up with for your virtual character?

Answer: Mii

Of course, you can still assign a name to your Mii, so that you can quickly pick the character from the group. With options to change everything from body size and shape to face shape, hair and eye color (and shape), and multiple other things (glasses, facial hair, moles, etc.) it is quite amazing how close you can get your Mii to look like you.
3. I started us off with 'Wii Sports,' the game that originally came bundled with my Wii when I got it. As I was loading the game, Bob queried, "Sports, huh? Can we play hockey?"

Answer: No

'Wii Sports' is a collection of five sports: tennis, golf, bowling, boxing and baseball. This game was included with the Wii console to provide players with a good demonstration of the use of the Wii remote and how the motion sensor worked with it to play.
4. "That was pretty fun," Bob exclaimed, "but what about Mario? Isn't he the big thing for Nintendo?" "Actually, Bob," I replied, "Nintendo has released a number of Mario games for the Wii. I 'flat' out guarantee that you can't guess which of these that I have came out for the Wii first. Care to guess?"

Answer: Super Paper Mario

Considering that Mario serves as the Nintendo mascot, it was interesting to note that the little plumber didn't make the starting Wii lineup. Twenty-one titles were available on Wii release day, with another twelve becoming available before the end of 2006. 'Super Paper Mario' didn't come out until 2007, and it was the first of five titles in that year that included Mario in game play. There have been many more since then.

'Super Paper Mario' allowed players to switch from 2D to 3D perspective with Mario, as they needed to traverse eight chapters and thirty-two levels of play, gaining a Pure Heart in each chapter. All of this, of course, is so that Mario can save the universe from certain destruction at the hands of Bowser.
5. "Here's one of my favorites to play with the kids," I told Bob after we got tired of Mario. "I think you'll like it, too." After playing for a while, Bob said, "Not bad! I especially liked the target shooting game and the one with the tanks. And I KILLED you in ping pong! What's the game called again?"

Answer: Wii Play

'Wii Play' came out in 2006, shortly after the release the Wii itself. Altogether the game has nine different minigames: Shooting Range, Find Mii, Table Tennis, Pose Mii, Laser Hockey, Fishing, Billiards, Charge! and Tanks! Each of the games can be played head-to-head or individually.
6. Before too long, Bob was ready to try something new. "How about a shooting game of some kind?" "I've got just the thing," I replied. Which game did I present to Bob from this list?

Answer: Call of Duty: Black Ops

One of the cool things about the Wii system is the accessories that you can get to accentuate your gaming experience. While not required to be able to play the games, shooting games can be augmented with an accessory shaped like a hand gun or rifle (that holds the wiimote) and makes it feel more like you're in the game.

'Call of Duty: Black Ops' is part of the 'Call of Duty' series of first-person shooting games that was first released on PC in 2003 before moving over to video game consoles. 'Call of Duty 3' was the first game in the series to be released on the Wii, and it came out the same day as the Wii launch.
7. Bob was flushed with excitement, "That was exhilarating! What have you got for me next?" "How about a little driving action? Wanna race?" "Sounds good!" Which of these games is NOT a vehicle racing game?

Answer: SSX Blur

'SSX Blur' is a snowboarding / skiing video game, the fifth in the 'SSX' series of games. 'SSX Blur' was the first in the series to be released for the Wii, and it came out in February of 2007, just three months after the Wii platform launch.

Driving games also have the option of another Wii accessory: the Wii Wheel. As you can imagine, it puts a steering wheel into your hands to accentuate the feeling of actually driving a vehicle.
8. Bob flopped down on the couch. "Whew! All this moving around is getting me tired! Have you got anything I can just sit still and play with my brain?" "I've got one here that will fit the bill. It's got chess, checkers, backgammon... twelve different games you can play sitting still! It's called 'Ultimate _____ _____ Collection.'" What was the rest of the title that I told Bob?

Answer: Board Game

The Wii edition of 'Ultimate Board Game Collection' comes with 12 different games available to be played, divided into three categories: family, strategy, and classic. Within the classic section is Chess, Checkers, Reversi and Backgammon; the strategy games include Mahjong, Connect Four, Sudoku and Gomoku; and the family section has Chinese Checkers, Word Cubes, Naval Battle and Jigsaw Puzzles.

The game was released in October of 2007.
9. "Actually," Bob interjected before we could play chess, "I was thinking more along the lines of an adventure strategy game. Do you have any of those 'Zelda' games I've heard about?" "As a matter of fact, I do!" Which of these is not a real 'Zelda' themed title available on the Wii?

Answer: The Legend of Zelda: Hyrule in Jeopardy

'The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess' was released along with the launch of the Wii system with the other games following later. Many of the earlier 'Zelda' games have also become available for play on the Wii through the Virtual Console (downloadable games that can be saved on the Wii system memory, but not actually released or developed for the Wii).

'Link's Crossbow Training' came out in 2007, sharing a setting with 'Twilight Princess,' and 'Skyward Sword' was released in 2011.
10. "Well, that was great!" Bob gushed as the dawn sun began to shine into my living room. "I should get one of these for myself!" "I think you'll enjoy it! But you might want to consider getting the Wii's successor. Nintendo made an announcement back in June 2011, naming their next console." What is it called?

Answer: Wii U

The 'Wii U' is Nintendo's sixth game console and the first with 1080p high-definition graphics. While still compatible with the original Wii controllers, it also comes with a new controller with an embedded touchscreen that allows the player to continue playing the game even with the television turned off.
