1.22 "Chrysalis" Trivia Quiz

Answer: "The Gathering"

JMS, genius that he is, has been planning Delenn's transformation from the beginning. The chrysalis device that we see Delenn building is first glaringly visible in "Signs and Portents" when Morden questions Delenn, but it can be seen in its very first stages in "The Gathering." The first shot we get of it is when G'Kar approaches Delenn about forming an alliance between Narn and Minbar.

Although the pieces are clear, they are there. "Soul Hunter" is the next episode we see the device, and it has been added on to since we saw it in "The Gathering."

Answer: "Survivors"

In the pilot episode, the traitor was originally going to be Takashima, but since she did not remain on the show, it was transferred to Garibaldi's Aide. There had been subtle signs that it might be him, but they are not even obvious when watching the series with the knowledge of his betrayal.

For example, in "And the Sky Full of Stars," it was Garibaldi's Aide that tried to cover up the payoff that Benson received from Knight Two.

Answer: December 30, 2258

This episode takes place over the New Year's holiday, with the first day of the episode being December 30. Earth Force One exploded on January 1, 2259..."A day that will live in infamy."

Answer: Petrov

Petrov, just before he died: "You've got to stop them. They're going to kill him...they're going to kill him." Garibaldi explained to Sinclair and Ivanova that the lurker's name was Stephen Petrov, and that he was one of Garibaldi's informants in Downbelow.

Answer: 6 months

When Garibaldi is discussing Petrov's statement with Sinclair and Ivanova, he mentions that he had been one of his informants for 6 months. Garialdi had booked him for petty theft, and reformed him into one of his informants.

Answer: 5 years

This fact comes from the ISN news report that Sinclair and Catherine watch: "After which, the president and his escort left the Mars colony on a goodwill tour of the outer planet colonies. Sources close to the president have hinted that he'll give a major policy speech New Year's Day from the jump point on Io.

The speech is likely to concern human-alien relations over the remainder of his five-year term."

Answer: Quadrant 37

This is from G'Kar's message to Na'Toth that he left before he returned to the Narn homeworld: "Na'Toth, by the time you get this message, I will be gone. I have certain suspicions about the attack on quadrant 37. I'm taking the first transport back to homeworld. You will not be able to contact me. I will contact you. And, uh, one more thing. Tell the commander he was right. We were at a crossroads, and there is no going back. Expect me when you see me."

Answer: the Park

Morden calls Londo to set up a meeting, as he wants to talk in person. Morden tells Londo to meet him in the park in one hour. At that meeting, where Morden makes Londo an offer he can't refuse: "I'm here to be of service, Ambassador! My associates believe that you are a person of great potential, trapped in a position where your skills are unseen and unappreciated.

They'd like to change that."

Answer: "A Race Through Dark Places"

Lurker #2: "The last time I saw Petrov was just before he went looking for you. Whatever he saw, whatever he knew, scared him half to death." This lurker was the primary rogue telepath in "A Race Through Dark Places." He personally knew Jason Ironheart and came up with the idea to trick Bester.

They're in Sinclair's quarters, cuddling on the couch and watching the news. Sinclair: "Look. Do you want to get married or don't you?" Sakai: "Yes." Sinclair: "Well, good. How's April by you?" Sakai: "July is better."

Na'Toth: "I'm afraid the Ambassador is resting. He is rather fatigued from his *heavy* schedule. Perhaps if you come back." [the 3 human women walk out from G'Kar's room] "I believe the Ambassador can see you now."

Answer: Devereaux

Garibaldi learns Devereaux's name from the lurker in Downbelow. He says that he hired him, Petrov and some other lurkers to help load cargo on a transport. The lurker suspected that this guy was up to no good. He also told Garibaldi that Devereaux could be found in the casino.

This is only the second time that we actually see the Shadow ships (the first was in "Signs and Portents"), and we get our first glimpse at the physical appearance of a Shadow. They completely wipe out the outpost in Quadrant 37, leaving no survivors. G'Kar begins to realize that there is something fishy going on, and that none of the usual suspects are responsible.

He departs Babylon 5 in order to personally investigate the incident.

Answer: Jupiter

Vice President Clark got off Earth Force One early enough that it would not be obvious he was escaping from a doomed ship. Earth Force One exploded just before it reached the transfer point off Io (one of Jupiter's moons), where he was going to give a speech.

Sinclair is down in the Zocalo having a drink at the bar and watching the ISN feed of President Clark's speech. Kosh enters and says the above line. Sinclair, realizing what G'Kar is referring to, rushes off to Delenn's quarters.

Garibaldi and his aide are checking the cargo of one of the ships that Devereaux was responsible for. They find the transmitters in a box. Garibaldi: "What's the frequency on that transmitter?" Garibaldi's Aide: "Can't make it out." Garibaldi: "Here, let me see that. 1010105? That's the Gold channel frequency for Earth Force One. Why would someone want to jam president's...Oh my god!"

Answer: 10,000

After Londo learns the details of the attack on the Narn outpost, Londo asks to meet with Morden. Morden: "Ambassador. You wanted to see me." Londo: "Yes. What have you done?" Morden: "Only what you asked me to do. You had a problem with quadrant 37, we took care of it for you." Londo: "But you killed ten thousand Narns." Morden: "I didn't know you cared. Ten thousand, a hundred thousand, a million, what's the difference? They're Narns, Ambassador. Your sworn enemy."

Answer: Talia Winters

Tech #1 is present in C&C, although this was her last episode. Catherine Sakai gets engaged to Sinclair in this episode, although it is also her last episode. Dr. Franklin performs surgery on Mr. Garibaldi after he is shot in the back. Talia does not make an appearance at all in this episode.

Answer: Delenn

Delenn goes to Kosh to confirm that she is taking the proper action. She says: "I have come as I said I would. Kosh, I have great doubts. I must know if it's true. I must see with my own eyes." Kosh's encounter suit opens up, revealing a bright light. When it closes, Delenn says: "Yes. Thank you. Now I will keep the promise. Goodbye. You will not see me again...as I am now."

Answer: False

Delenn wants to tell Sinclair the whole truth. Delenn: "Come to my quarters, and I'll tell you as much as I can. But don't wait too long, Commander. Certain things have been set in motion, and I do not have much time." Sinclair says that he will, but with all that goes on with Garibaldi, he forgets. Kosh comes to him: "And so it begins. You have forgotten something." Sinclair remembers Delenn, and rushes off to her quarters, where she is already in the chrysalis with Lennier standing watch. Sinclair: "Lennier?" Lennier: "You are too late." Sinclair: "What is it?" Lennier: "A chrysalis.

She is...changing." Sinclair: "Into what?" Lennier: "I don't know."

Answer: I'm being nibbled to death

Londo: "Vir, how many gods are there in our pantheon? I've lost count since the last emperor was elevated to godhood." Vir: "48. No, no, 49, 50 if you count Zuug but, you know, I never thought you should--" Londo: "All right, let's say 50." Vir: "50." Londo: "Now out of that 50, how many gods do you think I must have offended to have ended up with G'Kar's teeth buried so deeply in my throat that I can barely breathe?" Vir: "All of them?" Londo: "Sounds right. And now I have to go back to the Council and explain to them that in the interest of peace the Centauri government will agree to give quadrant 37 to the Narns. I think I will stick my head in the station's fusion reactor.

It would be quicker. And I suspect, after a while I might even come to enjoy it.

But this...this, this, this is like being nibbled to death by...what are those Earth creatures called? Feathers, long bill, webbed feet...go 'quack'?" Vir: "Cats." Londo: "Cats. I'm being nibbled to death by cats."

Answer: "Vir. I'm quite sober."

After Londo strikes the deal with Morden, he returns to his quarters and tells Vir to contact homeworld and tell them that Londo will personally take care of the situation in Quadrant 37. Vir, is completely shocked by this and thinks that Londo is drunk. He says the above line, and Londo replies with "Vir, I'm quite sober."

Answer: G'Kar

Sinclair comes to G'Kar to discuss his concerns about the Narn-Centauri relations, or lack there of. Sinclair: "I've had this feeling lately that we're standing at a crossroads, and I don't like where we're going. But there's still time to choose another path. You can be part of that process, G'Kar. Choose wisely. Not just for the Centauri, but for the good of your own people as well."

Answer: isolationist approach to alien relations

Clark's speech, as broadcasted on ISN: "It is important that we move on to create the world that Louis Santiago would have wanted for his children, my children, and for posterity yet to come. We will begin by focusing more on the needs of our own people, to sustain them through this difficult time, and to prepare them for the tasks ahead."

Answer: looking into mirrors

This quote comes from Londo's first conversation with Morden. Morden says that he and his associates want to help Londo's career, but Londo doesn't believe that anything can change. He expresses this opinion with the above quote.
