Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The first Road Block of the race was held in which Argentine city?

Answer: Salta

Although racers started this season in Buenos Aires they didn't encounter a Road Block task until Leg 2 when they raced through the northern city of Salta in the Andean foothills. This task had teams searching through carnival dancers at the bottom of Cerro San Bernardo, trying to match a pattern swatch with a design found on one dancer's outfit. If they got it right, they'd need to memorize the design of that dancer's medallion and identify it from a set to get their next clue. Steph, Chloe, Bam Bam, Oscar, Christian, Jett, Cyrell, Pete, Nat, and Brooke were selected to complete this challenge.
2. Ending off their time in Argentina, racers had to dress up which local animal for their Road Block in Leg 3?

Answer: Llama

Towards the end of Leg 3, racers headed into one of the many valleys of Jujuy Province, arriving in Tilcara, Argentina to help out on a llama farm. First, racers had to dress their llama per their clue's requirements. Then, once approved, they could take their llama on its long, daily walk along the valley trail, delivering it to the farmer at the end to get their next clue.

This task was done by Chloe, Bam Bam, Jett, Bridget, Havana, Adam, Christian, Cyrell, and Oscar.
3. In Leg 4, racers had to eat 'walkie talkies' for their Road Block task in Johannesburg. What is a 'walkie talkie'?

Answer: Meat

'Walkie talkies', as teams discovered when they arrived at the Road Block task on Diagonal Street in Johannesburg, South Africa, were a local street food comprised of 'walkies', or grilled chicken heads, and 'talkies', or grilled chicken feet. Upon sitting down for the meal, teams were informed that they would need to eat a full serving of both, leaving only the bones, before they could receive their next clue and head to the fourth Pit Stop.
4. Which team took the penalty instead of finishing the bike-building Road Block in Leg 5 (in Soweto, South Africa)?

Answer: Pete and Bridget

Arriving in Soweto Township in South Africa for their fifth leg, racers arrived at Lebo's Backpackers to find the Road Block to start their day. Here, racers were asked for a teammate who 'wanted to take it up a gear' because that selected participant needed to build a bike from provided parts, assembling the seat, wheels, and chain to the given frame.

When it was road ready they could receive their next clue. Pete, selected for this task, failed to assemble the bike in full, instead opting to take a thirty minute penalty at the next Pit Stop.

He and Bridget subsequently sunk to last place.
5. Racers who completed the Road Block in Leg 6 (in the Plumari Private Reserve) had to dig in the dirt for human teeth. But how many?

Answer: Twenty-eight

Just enough for a full set! After a day running through Soweto and rural South Africa (and having a safari!), teams woke up to a Road Block task in Plumari Private Reserve where one racer from each pair was tasked with joining an archaeological dig. In their corded-off dig site, racers were given the tools to dig, on hands and knees, for twenty-eight human teeth, and if they could find enough to make the full smile, they'd get their next clue.
6. For their Road Block in Leg 7, racers had to make a Namib sunscreen called otjize. This contained which ingredient?

Answer: Animal fat

Racers headed to Walvis Bay, Namibia in Leg 7 and with that, they headed to a small town on the outskirts of this generally remote region where, joining the Himba people, they were required to crush red ochre, combine it with animal fat, and slather it on their faces and arms as traditional sunscreen. Chloe, Adam, Pete, Thorpie, Bam Bam, and Billy were selected to prepare and enjoy this 'local spa treatment' before racing onward to the final task before the Pit Stop.
7. How many Road Blocks did teams encounter during their three-leg visit to Namibia?

Answer: One

Once teams headed to Namibia, they commenced a Road Block drought that would last three legs. Racers didn't encounter a Road Block in Legs 8 and 9 (in Swakopmund and at Spitzkoppe) and they didn't find one when they landed in the south of Thailand in Leg 10. All three of these legs, however, contained a Detour and Leg 9 contained a Speed Bump (for Thorpie and Christian).
8. Which racer completed the slingshotting Road Block in Phuket in Leg 11?

Answer: Pete

After spending their morning giving elephants a spa treatment in the outskirts of Phuket, Thailand, racers encountered a Road Block task that sent them to a local school to play games in the yard with Thai children. There, Bam Bam, Pete, Brooke, and Oscar were given a slingshot, and standing at a range of twenty meters, they had to use the device to shoot down ten tin cans waiting for them on a table at the far end of the yard. If they knocked them all down, the kids would hand over their next clue.
9. Did the final leg of the race contain any Road Blocks?

Answer: No

While, often, seasons of the race will culminate in a final leg that makes use of both team members' solo efforts (ie. with a double Road Block on the race course), this season didn't feature either a Road Block or a Detour in its twelfth leg, forcing the final three celebrity teams to barrel through active Route Info tasks without variation.

In the end, it meant that team members would have to work together to overcome the challenges to win the prize for charity.
10. Going into the final leg, all racers completed an equal amount of Road Block tasks.

Answer: False

This was not possible this season as, with no Fast Forwards and no ways to avoid completing the Road Blocks presented, there were seven total Road Blocks encountered in the twelve legs of this "Amazing Race" season. As such, going into the final leg, there was no way to balance team members; they had an odd number to contend with.

The only team with close to an even split was Brooke and Adam (who did four and three, respectively).
