Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The first leg of the race had teams commencing a race around the world in what South American capital?

Answer: Buenos Aires

Just as in the previous Celebrity Edition of "The Amazing Race Australia", teams commenced a race around the world in a far-away destination; season 7 was in India and this season was in Argentina.

For this first leg of the race, eleven teams had to proceed, mostly on-foot, around the capital of this South American nation encountering all manner of cultural tasks (dancing, cooking, supporting the Boca Juniors). Chloe and Emily hit the mat first in their first win of the season while Luke and Julie, failing to complete the dance side of the Detour, dropped to last place on a penalty and went home on day one.
2. Teams encountered which of these, for the first time, in Salta, Argentina in Leg 2?

Answer: Road Block

For Leg 2, ten teams were bussed northwest through Argentina to the city of Salta, and this leg began with an ascent to the top of Cerro San Bernardo and a steep cable car ride down to their first Road Block. The back half of the leg was much tougher as teams needed to drive themselves deeper into the Andes, finding a difficult Detour dealing with local animals and, then, completing the race's only Intersection by learning a gaucho horseback riding routine. Sisters Nat and Mel, who got lost en route to the Detour, were eliminated in tenth place despite another team's Detour penalty.
3. On the Inca Trail in Leg 3, racers had to handle which of these local animals?

Answer: Llama

Racers continued up into the high altitudes of Argentina in the third leg of the race, ascending into the Andes as they set foot on the Inca Trail. In addition to completing local chores (like making adobe bricks, hauling items down a mountain, and working at the local market), racers found their second Road Block of the competition in Tilcara whereupon they had to select a llama, dress it up, and guide it along a marked route to their destination in the nearby valley. Cyrell and Eden were unable to pull out of the back of the pack this episode and were the third team eliminated in Argentina.
4. Legs 4 and 5 took teams to this city (including its Soweto neighbourhood) in South Africa. Which is it?

Answer: Johannesburg

Leaving South America for South Africa, eight teams hit the ground running in Johannesburg in Leg 4, starting with a train ride into the city that had them competing in the city's old markets, its new cultural centres, and its busy streets. After facing a meal of chicken feet and chicken heads (walkie-talkies!), racers passed through one of the finer establishments of Jo'burg and checked into their fourth Pit Stop.

In Leg 5, racers proceeded outward to Soweto, home to Nelson Mandela's house and one of the most famous neighbourhoods of Apartheid-era South Africa. Teams who checked into the Pit Stop here were told to keep on racing directly into Leg 6.
5. Spending Leg 6 in the Cradle of Humankind in South Africa, racers had to dig through an archaeological site for which of these?

Answer: Teeth

Racing straight out of Soweto as they departed from the Virtual Pit Stop in Leg 6, teams headed out of the city and into the wilds of South Africa to complete a Detour with the Zulu people and spend a night on safari in Magaliesburg. When they woke up, the race was a tight one; not only did Pete and Bridget have to complete a Speed Bump before joining the others, but teams needed to complete a tough Road Block collecting teeth from an archaeological dig and drive themselves through the region to the Pit Stop at the Nirox Sculpture Park. Hitting the Pit Stop in last place, Havana and Steph were eliminated while the rest of the teams crossed into the back half of the race.
6. At Pelican Point in Leg 7, racers went kayaking off the coast of Namibia while collecting facts about which of these local creatures?

Answer: Seals

Heading to Walvis Bay, Namibia in Leg 7, the teams races up and down Namibia's largest sand dune and then proceeded to the protected lands on the Atlantic Coast, paddling out into the seal colony at Pelican Bay. After driving into Swakopmund for a handful of tasks with the Himba people, they were sent back into Dorob National Park to find Beau and what turned out to be a Virtual Pit Stop.

Despite teams being told to keep on racing, Chloe and Emily hit the mat to face their surprise elimination, a consequence of accidentally forgetting one of their packs at the Pelican Point task and falling too far behind.
7. Leg 8 ended on the jetty stretching out from which coastal city?

Answer: Swakopmund

Five teams headed up along the Skeleton Coast as they proceeded immediately into an exhausting eighth leg of the race, completing tasks along the Atlantic waterfront as they entered the German-colonized town of Swakopmund to create crystal stalls, dig under whale skeletons, and enjoy the day in the city's downtown area.

While some teams had to dig in for a hefty German meal (of pork knuckle), others excelled with a detail-oriented hat-making Detour before checking in at the non-elimination Pit Stop at the end of the Swakopmund Jetty.
8. Spitzkoppe was the focal point of Leg 9, which saw which injured team eliminated at its end?

Answer: Thorpie and Christian

Although Billy and Oscar accrued a forty minute time penalty for neglecting to complete a dung-spitting challenge at the start of the ninth leg, Christian and Thorpie fell behind so far on the way to Spitzkoppe that they couldn't finish the final tasks of the day.

This allowed the other four teams to check in before them on the way to 'The Bridge', a massive geological wonder on the mountain there. By the time they arrived at the end of Namibia's series of legs, they'd landed on the mat in fifth place a total of six consecutive times.
9. The last team to check in here, overlooking Phuket, Thailand, was eliminated from the race.

Answer: True

As teams ended off Leg 11 in Phuket, racers competed to land on the mat first and avoid elimination before the final stretch of the race. While Brooke and Adam and Bam Bam and Logan coasted to the top positions with the 'Frame' Detour, the two teams who completed 'Fame' battled it out in a last minute ride and footrace to the Khao Rang overlook that resulted in Pete and Bridget being sent home. Earlier in the leg, which took teams through Phuket, teams washed elephants and joined local schoolchildren for recess.
10. Hua Lamphong, seen here, marked the end of the race. What is this building normally used as?

Answer: Train station

After a late-day race through Bangkok, Thailand in the final leg of the race that had teams learning sword dances, eating street food delicacies, and recalling the events of the previous legs, racers had to find the centrally-located Hua Lamphong Train Station and step on the mat to, hopefully, win "The Amazing Race Australia".

It was Bam Bam and Logan who took the $100,000 AUD prize for their charity when they arrived first at the Finish Line. Billy and Oscar arrived shortly after, and Brooke and Adam, who ended up lost in the Bangkok streets halfway through the leg, arrived in third.
