Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Racers started off Leg 9 by travelling to Omandumba, Namibia, where they had to play a game that involved spitting which of these at a target?

Answer: Dung

After a double-length leg of the race along the Skeleton Coast tested racers to the extreme, the final five celebrity pairs were given their much-deserved rest and ripped open their clues outside their Pit Stop hotel to start Leg 9. With this, they had to hop into their vehicles and make their way to the Erongo Mountain Nature Sanctuary to locate a route marker at Omandumba, two hundred kilometres inland.

Joining the locals upon their arrival, teams had to play a game of bokdrol spoeg, or dung-spitting. For this, racers had to stand at a marked line, collect dung, and spit a piece of said dung into a circle to get their next clue.
2. Leg 9 contained a Speed Bump task, but no Road Block.

Answer: True

As soon as teams arrived in Omandumba, they encountered the route marker waiting at the gate to the Erongo Mountain Nature Sanctuary. Because they placed last in the previous leg and avoided elimination, Thorpie and Christian needed to join the other teams in playing bokdrol spoeg, but they needed to get their hands dirtier by filling a larger container with animal dung before continuing their race.

Interestingly, Thorpie and Christian managed to complete this and pass Billy and Oscar at the bokdrol spoeg task. It led the latter team to take a penalty, skipping the task at the cost of forty minutes at the Pit Stop.
3. Which Detour task was completed by most teams in the Erongo Mountain Nature Sanctuary in Leg 9?

Answer: 'Weapons'

Racers who locked up their dung-spitting task were given a Detour immediately after, allowing them to join the local San people in their tasks by selecting either 'Weapons' or 'Water'. In 'Weapons', racers had to follow a hunter's instructions by walking to the hunting ground, learning to use a bow and arrow, and (each) successfully hit a target. In 'Water', racers received ostrich eggs and needed to craft a water carrier-- including the leather sling and all the accoutrements-- without breaking the egg.

Brooke and Adam, Bam Bam and Logan, and Billy and Oscar completed 'Weapons' while Pete and Bridget and Thorpie and Christian completed 'Water'.
4. At an Animal Research Station in Namibia, racers had to watch trail cam footage, identifying how many unique animals for a clue in Leg 9?

Answer: Ten

Completing the Detour allowed teams to race back to their vehicles and deeper into the desert to a nearby Animal Research Station. There, racers were shown a recorded video feed from a trail cam and, with this, they needed to identify ten different animals that were visible on the screen to help local conservationists.

If they completed the trail cam task, racers could then drive themselves to the nearby town of Usakos to gain access to Spitzkoppe. From there, they would proceed on foot to the top of 'The Dome' to find the next route marker.
5. Which team was eliminated from the race in fifth place?

Answer: Thorpie and Christian

If teams could get to the top of The Dome they would get one last clue pushing them onward to the Pit Stop at 'The Bridge', another part of Spitzkoppe. Here, teams could step on the mat in front of Beau and attempt to avoid assured elimination. Brooke and Adam reclaimed first place from Pete and Bridget, landing in first for their third time and winning a luxury hotel stay before heading to their final nation.

Due to Thorpie's injuries, he and Christian fell behind after the trail cam task to the extent that the pair were unable to climb The Dome. The two of them arrived at the Pit Stop in last and were sent home sixth consecutive fifth place arrival.
6. In Leg 10, teams were flown to which Thai city to continue their race?

Answer: Phuket

Teams left Namibia bound for one last nation in the final three legs of the race, and this meant flying from the southwest coast of Africa to Phuket, in Southern Thailand, for a day in and around Phang Nga, off the coastal tourist trail. Teams were taken, by songthaew, to Natai Beach on the edge of the Andaman Sea and let go in the order they arrived at the ninth Pit Stop, all the way back at Spitzkoppe.

The clue in their envelope, this time, was a Detour sending them to the floating village of Koh Panyi.
7. The 'Kick It' Detour option in Leg 10 had teams playing which sport with Thai locals?

Answer: Soccer

Once teams landed on Koh Panyi, they could choose between 'Raise It' and 'Kick It' for their Detour. In 'Raise It', racers had to use a map to find two marked shops-- one for bamboo and one for flags-- and then combine their collected items to bring to the Newfern Restaurant across the town. There, racers had to assemble and hoist the poles in the proper orientation to get their next clue. In 'Kick It', racers played soccer with locals on the floating pitch, completing a series of drills to get their clue.

Pete and Bridget and Billy and Oscar chose 'Raise It' while Brooke and Adam and Bam Bam and Logan chose 'Kick It'.
8. Racers were tasked with finding Khao Phing Kan in Leg 10. As they were informed, it was previously featured in what James Bond film?

Answer: The Man with the Golden Gun

Once teams ended their Detours they could return to their boats and guide their drivers to Khao Phing Kan. Once on the beach there, they had to strip down to their bathing suits and swim out into the bay next to the distinctive island to collect their secret envelopes.

The route info there told them to return to the beach proper to start the hunt for a main with a pair of golden sunglasses. He would have their next clue deep in the limestone caves.
9. To close out their tenth leg of the race, teams had to make a Thai dessert at a local plantation. What kind of plantation did they visit?

Answer: Banana

Teams who found the man with the golden sunglasses were told to take their boats back to the mainland for one more task. Racers would need to hitch a ride to Khok Kloi to find Na Nuea Stadium. There, they could locate the race flags at the adjacent banana plantation and join the locals in making a traditional dessert known as khao tom mud consisting of banana leaf wrapped around sticky rice and banana, all of which they had to locate the ingredients for on the farm. If they could make six proper servings, they'd get one last clue for the leg.
10. Which team was last to arrive at the Pit Stop in Leg 10, being spared by the final non-elimination of the race?

Answer: Billy and Oscar

Once racers made their just desserts, the only matter left to handle was getting to the race's tenth Pit Stop, the Hotspring Beach Resort & Spa on the coast in Thai Mueang. Teams could locate Beau and the mat across the boardwalk along the beachfront. Here, Pete and Bridget slipped ahead to take their second win of the race, getting ahead in the final task of the leg.

At the end of this series of tasks, it was Billy and Oscar who landed on the mat in last, checking in for the final non-elimination Pit Stop of the race and setting themselves up for the Speed Bump in the upcoming leg.
