Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Starting Leg 11, racers visited an art exhibit near Phuket depicting which of these?

Answer: Turtle eggs

Leaving Phang Nga and starting their penultimate leg at the Sarasin Bridge in Phuket, racers were told to proceed to the Phuket Gateway by directing their songthaew to the landmark. There, racers would have to search the art exhibit there, sifting through the numerous, massive turtle egg art pieces there, to find one of four clues hiding underneath them.
2. The Speed Bump in Leg 11 was held at an elephant care facility. With which of these did Billy and Oscar need to fill buckets?

Answer: Clay balls

Teams who found the clue at the turtle eggs were sent to Phuket Elephant Care where they had to perform ethical care routines to the local elephants. All teams would receive a bucket of clay balls which they would need to wet down and spread all over their elephants' bodies, trunks, and heads. Once they showered their elephant clean, they would get their next clue.

Because Billy and Oscar placed last in Leg 10 and avoided elimination, the pair had to complete their Speed Bump after completing this task. To finish this up, they had to fill three buckets with the clay balls needed to exfoliate and cool down the reserve's elephants.
3. Which weapon did team members fire in their Road Block in Phuket (in Leg 11)?

Answer: Slingshot

After caring for their elephants, teams ripped open their Road Block clues for this leg of the race and were asked 'who's ready for some child's play?' For this task, all racers headed into Phuket to visit the Bankokwatmai School. There, the selected teammates (Bam Bam, Pete, Brooke, and Oscar) needed to learn from the local schoolchildren, taking up a slingshot and joining them for recess. With the slingshot, they'd need to knock ten tin cans down from twenty meters away.
4. Both Detour options encountered in Phuket, 'Fame' and 'Frame', were completed by the same amount of teams (two and two).

Answer: True

Once racers completed their Road Blocks in Leg 11, all they had remaining was their Detour task-- the last of the race-- composed of a choice between 'Fame' and 'Frame'.

In 'Fame', racers had to visit a local cabaret where, watching a performer on stage, they had to mimic their costume, down to the finest detailing, on another waiting performer. They would only have ten seconds at a time to look at the example model before taking a shot.

In 'Frame', racers headed to Thalang Road to match provided photographs with the facades of the buildings along the street. If they could properly match all three to their street numbers, they could receive their next clue.

Billy and Oscar and Pete and Bridget completed 'Fame' while Brooke and Adam and Bam Bam and Logan completed 'Frame'.
5. Which team was eliminated at the end of the race's penultimate leg?

Answer: Pete and Bridget

Teams peeled out of their Detour tasks at the end of Leg 11 and hopped back into their vehicles to head to the final Pit Stop of the race (before the final leg) waiting at a panoramic overlook at Khao Rang. Here, next to the gazebo at the cliff edge, racers checked in with Beau to lock in their spot in the finale. Brooke and Adam hit the mat first, maintaining their lead since the Road Block and taking their fourth win of the race.

After eleven legs, Pete and Bridget checked in in last place. They were saved by non-elimination last time they did this, but with no second chances left, this instance meant heading home.
6. Racers started their final leg, in Bangkok, by performing a dance with which of these?

Answer: Swords

All three remaining teams were brought to Bangkok, Thailand for the final leg of the race, and there, from Chong Nonsi Skywalk, Beau had everyone sent out at the same time. There, at the end of the path, racers opened a clue sending them to their tuk-tuks to navigate their way to the Nopparat Theatre.

Here, racers worked together to learn the choreography of a traditional Thai sword dance, performing it onstage to get their next clue.
7. Racers had to travel through the Bangkok city streets to deliver which of these in the final leg?

Answer: Catfish

If racers could get their moves down in the sword dance, they could head deeper into Bangkok to locate its Chinatown district. Finding the Chinatown Gate, teams had to locate a fishmonger who would provide them with two catfish weighing in at twenty kilos apiece.

They would then have to carry these through the city streets to Plaeng Nam Road, delivering it to the Khao Thom 3/1 restaurant in order to trade them for their next clue.
8. Which of these Thai delicacies did teams not need to eat in Bangkok's Chinatown district in Leg 12?

Answer: Candied crickets

Once teams dropped off their catfish, they were tasked with enjoying a more difficult Thai meal that they prepared with local street food vendors. Teams were instructed as to how to create a fresh frog curry dish (by chopping, skinning, and frying two frogs) and they had to eat that along with duck necks and fried waterbugs to get their next clue, but this would only happen if they could, collectively, finish their plates...even if that meant losing some of the difficult meal.
9. The final task of the competition, a memory challenge, had teams recalling which of these, seen in every leg of the race?

Answer: Symbols

After a late dinner in Chinatown, racers proceeded to the NT Tower Bangrak for their final task of the race, a memory task forcing them to recall events from all twelve legs of this season. What teams discovered, upon their arrival, was that their memory would need to drum up twelve specific symbols, all seen during tasks or representing tasks/people/items they encountered along the course-- things from paw prints seen on the shirts of the paseadores de perros in Buenos Aires to a whale skeleton seen on the flags in Swakopmund. If racers could place them in the proper order, they'd get their final clue.
10. Which team won "The Amazing Race Australia 8"?

Answer: Bam Bam and Logan

Teams heading out from the memory task only had one more thing to do: grab their tuk-tuk, find Beau, and land on the Finish Line inside the main hall of Hua Lamphong Railway Station in the middle of Central Bangkok. Here, after twelve legs, Bam Bam and Logan stepped into the station first and took the win in the final leg, winning $100,000 AUD for the Sydney Region Aboriginal Corporation and taking the title as winners of "The Amazing Race Australia 8".

They were followed by Billy and Oscar in second place and Brooke and Adam in third.
