Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Very early on, residing in a small body of water just underneath a platform are a total of five mini bosses awaiting the player, with good loot to be dropped should the player defeat them. Who is this?

Answer: Titanite Demon

When slain, each demon will drop two Demon Titanites, an important resource needed to upgrade boss weapons. There is a total of ten to be had just in this one area alone. However, Titanite Demons are tough assailants, and there are multiple in one congested area, so claiming this prize will be easier said than done.
2. At three different points traveling amongst the fortress, the player can step on a pressure plate. What do these pressure plates do when activated?

Answer: Trigger an automatic crossbow

Each of these three pressure plates are directly within the line of fire of a fully automatic crossbow. When triggered, the crossbow will fire three quick volleys, which will definitely cause a quick death if they aren't dodged or blocked with a strong shield.
3. The player will quickly encounter a long, classic, cliched trap featuring four different pathways where a boulder periodically rolls through. The player can use these boulders to their advantage, they just need to find the right mechanism. What mechanism controls these boulders?

Answer: A lever

Inside a big, open room at the top floor of the fortress is an enormous lever based mechanism that autonomously controls when and where boulders roll. The player can pull or push this lever to influence where boulders to. However, once they leave the room, the mechanism will take a life of its own and occasionally change the boulder's pathing after awhile, so the player will need to act quickly if they need the mechanism to be in a specific direction for a period of time.

This can be rendered trivial by summoning a friend for help, as the friend can simply stay inside the room with the mechanism and ensure it does not change its pathing in a negative way.
4. Using the boulder trap to the player's advantage, the player can locate and free a trapped NPC. What NPC is this?

Answer: Big Hat Logan

Logan is stuck inside of a cage dangling in the air in a room that can only be accessed by using the boulder trap to destroy a wall to gain access. The logic behind that is baffling to me as well.

To actually be able to open the cage, the player either needs the Master Key or the Cage Key found within the fortress.
5. The player must be careful with the boulder trap, as there is a chance they could inadvertently kill a different, friendly NPC any using it errantly. Who can this happen to?

Answer: Siegmeyer of Catarina

Siegmeyer rests on the ledge of an area which is thankfully off to the side of the boulder's pathing. However, by accidentally falling and landing on top of him, he will stand up and unsheathe his weapons. He can, if not careful, accidentally be nudged into the path of the boulder and killed by it.
6. Finally, we have another instance of a former ally gone Hollow. Which ex-friend will turn their blade on the player here?

Answer: Griggs of Vinheim

This will happen to Griggs once Big Hat Logan arrives at, and then eventually leaves Firelink Shrine. Griggs will leave to accompany Logan, but given his Hollowed presence at Sen's Fortress, something had to have gone wrong. The game never clarifies on what happened to him unfortunately, but we can at least make an educated guess that it couldn't have been a good ending for him.
7. There is one room within the fortress containing nothing but a treasure chest. Inside the chest is a Lightning Spear, but given the map, it's reasonable to assume there's more than meets the eye. What trickery is afoot?

Answer: The chest is a Mimic

If the player attempts to just open the chest right away, they'll be ambushed by a Mimic who will likely immediate one-shot them. The solutions are easy: either simply destroy the chest before opening it, or use a Lloyd's Talisman to briefly disable the trap for long enough to retrieve the loot and walk away.
8. The swinging axe traps get more and more treacherous as the player climbs the fortress, with the platforms getting skinnier and the axes becoming more plentiful. How can the player control these axes?

Answer: They can't

A little bit of old-fashioned "gitting gud" is in order to overcome this challenge.
9. There is one last trap on the top floor of the fortress. Despite it being the top floor, there is an elevator traveling upward. When it reaches the top, what happens?

Answer: It kills instantly

At the top of this elevator is nothing but a ceiling with long, rusty spikes that will immediately kill anyone hit by them. There is no loot or any good reason to actually take this lift, so the simple solution is to just ignore it.
10. When emerging into the roof, the player can locate the Crestfallen Merchant. Most of the merchant's stock can be bought or easily found elsewhere, but he sells one armor set that is exclusive to his shop alone. What exclusive armor set does he sell?

Answer: Catarina armor

Overall, this set has good weight:stats efficiency, though it is still quite heavy. It is the signature, iconic set Siegmeyer, Sieglinde and, in "Dark Souls 3," Siegward wear.
11. On the roof of a fortress, there is a Giant constantly targeting the player with enormous fire bombs. They're easy enough to avoid, but it's still a good idea to eventually kill this Giant anyway. Why is this?

Answer: The Giant will help the area boss otherwise

If left alone, the Giant will await the player to challenge the Iron Golem. Once done, the Giant will bombard the boss room with enormous firebombs that will not damage the Iron Golem but can register a quick and easy kill on the player. As such, it is heavily recommended to kill it before starting the boss fight.
12. The boss of Sen's Fortress is the Iron Golem. Uniquely, while the player could defeat it with regular means, they can also exploit the fact that this boss can what?

Answer: Fall to its death

The platform the player fights the golem on is a treacherous one with small platforms and a long, lethal fall to their sides. This applies to the golem itself interestingly enough. Technically, while difficult, it's possible to defeat the golem without ever actually attacking it directly.

More commonly though, players who cause the golem to fall to its death will do so by attacking its ankles. After awhile, the golem will begin to stumble and, if continually attacked at this point, will flat flat on its back. If there is no structure for its back to fall on, it will just die.
13. The player doesn't have to fight the Iron Golem alone, as there's an NPC summon sign awaiting their beck and call. What NPC is this?

Answer: Black Iron Tarkus

Tarkus wields the Greatsword to go with the Black Iron armor set and Black Iron Greatshield. He is incredibly powerful, and can straight up solo the boss if the player needs him to.
14. Exclusively to itself, when defeated, the Iron Golem doesn't drop a boss "soul", instead dropping the Core of an Iron Golem. What is the difference between a "Core" and a soul?

Answer: Nothing

The Core of an Iron Golem functions identically to what a "Soul" of an Iron Golem would. It can be converted into the Golem Ase, the Bone Fist or consumed for souls.
15. After the Iron Golem is defeated, the player initially appears to have hit a dead end. However, after some time, a pack of gargoyles show up to randomly abduct the player and take them to their next area. Where will they go?

Answer: Anor Londo

The lore implications for why a pack of gargoyles just take our character here and, better yet, why the character does nothing to resist this at all are never revealed. Nevertheless, Anor Londo is doubtlessly the most iconic area in the entire game, so this detail will likely soon be overlooked completely.
