Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Shortly after arriving in the asylum, the player will encounter the game's first boss, the Asylum Demon. It can be slain during this first encounter, but doing so will be entirely cumbersome. How many times does the player need to hit the demon to prevail during this first encounter?

Answer: 413

The player will have nothing but either a Broken Straight Sword or a Straight Sword Hilt, which are functionally the same. These weapons do an absolute maximum of 2 damage to the demon. The demon has 825 HP, meaning it will need to be hit 413 times in order to be defeated. For me, this took slightly more than 31 minutes to do- and I was being particularly aggressive! As well, the player will not have any Estus Flasks, meaning they can take a max of 4 hits from the demon before the 5th would be lethal.

The Knight starting class can survive a fifth hit due to starting with more Vigor and wearing slightly heavier armor than other classes- however, this class also fat rolls, so removing one piece of said armor is heavily recommended to correct this.
2. While even fighting the Asylum Demon during the first encounter seems way too tedious to be worth it, there is a nice reward to those that do. The demon will drop an extra goodie during its first encounter that it will not drop if the player fights it at any point after. What will the demon drop of defeated when first met?

Answer: Demon's Great Hammer

This is just the weapon that the Asylum Demon itself wields. It's an end game weapon surprisingly enough, demanding 46 Strength to be wielded and being quite heavy, thus generally necessitating investment into Endurance to compensate in equip load.
3. Funny enough, the developers at From Software themselves left a message right in the Asylum Demon's boss room. The message can only be seen when meeting the demon for the first time. What does it say?

Answer: "Get away!"

This message was essentially left here as a prompt for the player that perhaps fighting the demon is a bad idea. To be fair, for the average player, it probably is. Thankfully, fleeing from the demon is quite easy, it just requires the player to have an open eye and think outside the box slightly.
4. After meeting the demon for the first time, the player can later find an important NPC, Oscar of Astora. Oscar is extremely important because he gives the player two essential items. What is one of them?

Answer: Estus Flask

The Estus Flask is compulsory for the average player, as this will be their primary or, possibly, only source of healing for the entirety of their playthrough. They will start with five charges, which will be more than enough to take down the Asylum Demon when given actual weapons to use.

In addition to this, Oscar can potentially give the player the Big Pilgrim's Key, the key needed to escape the Asylum and start actually playing the game. He does this if the player defeated the Asylum Demon during their first encounter with it.
5. Once the player finally escapes the Undead Asylum, just in front of the building overseeing a ledge is a bird's nest, quite a large one at that. Here, the player will be introduced to Snuggly the Crow. What does Snuggly do?

Answer: Trade items

Snuggly has a large, random list of items he will trade for a large, even more random list of items. This is a typical role for a random avian creature to play across From Software games. Dyna and Tilo in "Dark Souls 2" and Pickle-pee and Pump-a-rump in "Dark Souls 3" would go on to hold these roles.
6. Interestingly, Snuggly the Crow has a particular interest in one specific boss soul, and will reward the player with an exclusive Sorcery if they bring this boss soul to him. Whose boss soul does this apply to?

Answer: Manus

If Manus' boss soul is brought to Snuggly, Snuggly will trade the Pursuers Sorcery for it. Pursuers is essentially a Dark version of Homing Crystal Soulmass, only it is much, much more powerful.
7. The player will likely find themselves returning to this area in the middle of their playthrough. If they do, they'll find a new boss waiting for them. Who is it?

Answer: Stray Demon

Aesthetically, this is the same exact demon as the Asylum Demon, only it wields a sorcery catalyst instead of a greathammer. When defeated, it drops a Titanite Slab.
8. In addition to a new boss fight, there is also a new, terrifying mini boss that shows up when the player returns to the asylum. This mini boss can be found where Oscar of Astora was originally met. Who is it?

Answer: Black Knight

This is arguably the most challenging appearance of a Black Knight in the entire game. The player is forced to fight the knight in either a narrow hallway, or a small, cramped up room filled with obstacles. These elements do not impede the knight, but can easily greatly hinder the player.
9. Here, the all important Peculiar Doll can be found. The Peculiar Doll is required for the player to enter a different area. What area?

Answer: Painted World of Ariamis

Without the Peculiar Doll, the player simply cannot interact with the painting leading in to Ariamis. It can be found just past the Black Knight, past the ruined staircase where a boulder rolls down.
10. Depending on player decision, the return to the asylum can end on a grim note. Found here can potentially be a former ally, fully Hollowed and now hostile. Who could this be?

Answer: Oscar of Astora

If Oscar was not killed during the player's first trip through the asylum, they will return only to find that he has fully Hollowed. He is fortunately quite easy to kill with a short health bar, but the occasion is still somber and sad nonetheless.
