Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Traveling down Shula, Sanctum City, you'll approach a bridge and see Sinh the Slumbering Dragon do you a solid and annihilate a couple enemies with some timely fire breath. However, before crossing the now clear bridge, you could take a right just a step before the bridge, break some urns and find this Sorcery hidden on a corpse. What sorcery is this?

Answer: Focus Souls

Focus Souls quickly fires four Soul Bolts that have very aggressive tracking on their target. The player must have 60 Intelligence in order to use it. Curiously, its range is increased if the player uses it and targets something positioned beneath them, such as when facing down a hill or looking over a balcony towards an enemy shooting something at the player.
2. The Soul of Nadalia, Bride of Ash is notoriously tedious to earn. When the player has finally managed to do so, Straid of Olaphis will trade them this Pyromancy for it. What Pyromancy is this?

Answer: Outcry

Outcry causes a series of dark flame pillars to appear all around the player, causing tremendous damage to any who are directly hit by it. It can only be cast twice and it does take up two spell slots, but its damage output is truly terrifying.
3. As the player visits the Undead Crypt and loots the Crushed Eye Orb, they may begin to piece together that there is a traitor in their company. Indeed, the orb will reveal that this NPC at Majula seeks to impede the player's main objective. Killing her after using this orb is the only way to receive the Soothing Sunlight Miracle. Who drops this for the player?

Answer: Licia of Linheldt

This spell is noteworthy for being the only healing spell in the game which invaders can use to heal each other. If summoned by the Looking Glass Knight, the player can also use this spell to heal the Knight, much to the extreme animosity of the poor host in this increasingly bleaker scenario. As well, it has significantly greater range than its contemporaries and can actually be delayed; by simply holding down the spell casting button and not letting go, the player can essentially 'hold' their spell, the purpose of which would be waiting for nearby allies to get close enough for the spell to heal them.

Given that it maxes out at four uses and heals for more than any spell in the game, Soothing Sunlight is by a million miles the best healing Miracle and Miracle build players are heavily encouraged to fight Licia - they'll just want to make sure they've purchased everything they wanted to buy from her first!
4. Promised Walk of Peace is perhaps the most bizarre spell, period, in the game as a Hex. Where can it be found?

Answer: Shulva, Sanctum City

It is a fittingly enigmatic one to obtain, because the pathway to doing so is extremely out of the way and requires precision on the player to get. Not too long after locating the second bonfire, the player will come upon a big U-Turn going at a roughly 120 degree angle. If, instead of simply following the path, the player peers over the cliff side, they'll notice a small indent in the mountain-like structure a bit in front of them. Inside this indent are a series of small statues guarding a lever. If the player looks to their right slightly, they'll notice a platform that's just barely too far away to reach- activating the lever will cause the platform to rise and become accessible, allowing the player to properly cross over. To do this, the player will need an explosive item of some sort in order to hit the lever through the statue. Pyromancies such as Fireball, items such as the Fire Bomb or an explosive round fired off of a Greatbow would suffice. Once this is done, the player can walk across the platform and eventually acquire Promised Walk of Peace.

Promised Walk of Peace, when used, briefly prevents anything within close proximity to the caster from running or dodge-rolling. This would be particularly useful if the user is invading a player's world and wanted to use it to stop the host from fleeing, so that they could then use their other spells to harass them while they were unable to flee. Given that it restricts movement, it makes plenty of sense on a character who is a caster, thus wants to maintain a distance and stop the opponent from closing the gap quickly. As such, it makes sense in PvP scenarios to use this spell.
5. The only spell in the game which can afflict the target with Toxic, which boss must the player defeat in order to gain access to the Toxic Mist Pyromancy?

Answer: Royal Rat Authority

Once Royal Rat Authority has been defeated, the player can trade its soul to Straid of Olaphis in exchange for Toxic Mist. Toxic Mist can be used three times, and it does exactly what it sounds like upon activation: spawns a large toxic mist cloud that afflicts the enemy with Toxic if they remain in the mist for long. Because human beings can easily react to and avoid the mist cloud, this utility is pretty impractical in PvP, and is better for PvE where enemies won't react to the cloud like humans would.

In that regard, some bosses such as Ancient Dragon can be made much easier to handle with Toxic Mist given their huge defenses and high HP bar. Sadly, most bosses are actually immune to poison, but those that aren't can be effectively handled with this spell.
6. Yearn is a silly Sorcery that you might not initially think has any real utility. However, in this one boss fight, Yearn can actually cause the boss to inadvertently kill its own henchmen and makes the fight overall much easier. What boss does this apply to?

Answer: Executioner's Chariot

The main gimmick to the Executioner's Chariot boss is that the chariot itself is riding up and down a tall spiral tower. The player is meant to go up the tower, using small rooms to the side of the tower to evade the chariot, pull a lever to activate a portcullis, which will cause the chariot to crash into it, wipe out, and allow the player to properly fight it.

There are a series of skeletons and a couple necromancers meant to make this journey challenging. However, the player can wisely cast Yearn right in the middle of the chariot's path.

This will spawn a large white orb that will draw the enemies towards it, only for the chariot to run them all over and make it easier for the player to make it to the top of the tower. Given that Yearn can be cast 16 times, it can be used more than enough to easily allow the player to win this fight with zero real difficulty thanks to its particular utility.
7. If the player wants to earn the incredibly powerful Sunlight Spear Miracle, they'll have to max out their devotion level to the Heirs of Sun covenant, which will require thirty Sunlight Medals. How does the player earn a Sunlight Medal, assuming that they've set themselves as a member of the Heirs of Sun covenant?

Answer: Help other players beat boss fights

If the player is an Heir of the Sun and is summoned to another player's world, they can go kill a boss in the other player's world and both players will earn a Sunlight Medal. It should be worth noting that the one and only exception to this would be The Pursuer in Forest of Fallen Giants, specifically when fought atop a large platform off to the side of the Cardinal Tower bonfire; where his formal boss room is not.

This will not earn a Sunlight Medal to achieve, so players looking to earn one are encouraged to instead fight The Pursuer in his formal boss room so they can be properly compensated.
8. The Ruin Sentinels are a very challenging early game boss, and they're also highly desirable for Sorcery builds, as the Ruin Sentinel Soul can be traded to Straid of Olaphis for this very powerful spell. What is it?

Answer: Heavy Homing Soul Arrow

Heavy Homing Soul Arrow is the strongest soul arrow with homing properties in the game. It does have a relatively high 35 Intelligence prerequisite, and the casting speed is slow, but it is still an excellent tool primarily in PvE for its sheer power and efficiency.
9. Chaos Storm is an all time classic fan favorite. Obtaining it is quite an interesting challenge, as it actually requires the player to have equipped a different Pyromancy to have a chance to get Chaos Storm. Which Pyromancy will the player need?

Answer: Flash Sweat

In order to get Chaos Storm, the player will need to run across molten lava, open a chest and pick it up. The lava will damage them too much and they will always die before being able to pick up the spell unless they have Flash Sweat. Flash Sweat temporarily immensely increases the player's Fire absorption.

It doesn't work for long, however, so the player still needs to act and move fast. Once Flash Sweat is applied, the player will have enough time to get Chaos Storm. However, the lava is still doing noticeable damage, meaning the player will first want to clear out enemies in the vicinity lest they impede the player and deal an unexpected, lethal and untimely blow.
10. If the player fights Nashandra and is jealous of her curse orb attack, they might be pleasantly surprised to learn that they themselves can gain access to a variation of this power. Lifedrain Patch can be acquired by defeating a boss- who?

Answer: Darklurker

Lifedrain Patch won't allow the player to spawn more than one orb like Nashandra can, but it otherwise does the same exact thing. Notably, it also costs souls to use- 3,000 to be exact. It can be cast anyway if the player doesn't have enough souls, but it will be putridly weak and not worth using.
