Kathy Seldon was played by the wonderful Debbie Reynolds in the movie 'Singing in the Rain'. It was set at the time of the beginning of talkies, and Cathy with her beautiful voice was forced to dub the sound track for the thoroughly unpleasant Lina Lamont played by Jean Hagen. Of course Cathy eventually gets due credit and all ends happily.

"Call Me" by Blondie kept the song at Number Two on the US charts. Michael McDonald contributed backing vocals and Christopher played the guitar solo on the recording. It reached number 34 on the UK chart on re-release in 1968. Buddy Holly had a number 37 hit on the US pop chart with "Rave On" in 1958. It reached number five on the UK chart the same year. Eddie Cochran was fatally injured (he died later in hospital) in a one vehicle car crash in Wiltshire UK in 1960. Fellow passengers, singer Gene Vincent, Eddie's fiancé Sharon Sheeley (writer of "Poor Little Fool" for Ricky Nelson) and tour manager Pat Thompkins were injured. The taxi driver George Martin was uninjured and later fined £50 for dangerous driving and banned for 15 years. In the Believe it or not/Rumour department: A police cadet at the local police station was David Harman who became Dave Dee of the '60s UK pop group Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick and Tich. He taught himself to play guitar on Eddie's impounded Gretsch guitar. Earlier, on the Eddie Cochran and Gene Vincent tour the guitar had been carried to their transport by a very young fan Mark Feld, who later changed his name to Marc Bolan and he himself died in a car crash in 1977.
