Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. February 22: On this date, in 10,000 BC, a little girl was born in the town of Bedrock. Who was the little girl?

Answer: Pebbles

Pebbles Flintstone is the daughter of Fred and Wilma Flintstone, all characters from the popular television show "The Flintstones". Though the show never mentions a time or place of Pebbles' birth, it is reported by the producer that she was born at the Rockapedic Hospital in 10,000 BC. This is interesting because most versions of the show are set at around 1,000,000 BC.
2. March 9: On this day in 1959, a new toy swept the nation, and girls everywhere instantly fell in love with this new toy. Later, this date would be used as the toy's official birthday. Which toy?

Answer: Barbie

Barbie was introduced on March 9, 1959. The first Barbie had a black and white swimsuit. Her full name is Barbie Roberts, and was named after the creator's daughter. Years later, it was determined that March 9, 1959 would become Barbie's official "birth date".
3. March 22: On this day in 2233, a famous figure was born. William Shatner would agree, this character is an icon. Which "Star Trek" character was given the birthday of March 22, 2233?

Answer: Captain Kirk

Captain Kirk is a character from the "Star Trek" franchise who was originally played by William Shatner. He was born in Riverside, Iowa, and was raised by his parents, George and Winona. In the 2009 "Star Trek" film, Captain Kirk was portrayed by Chris Pine (though, really, can Shatner ever be replaced?)
4. April 6: Going further into the future, we arrive on this date in 2980, when a "Lord of the Rings" character was born. This hobbit, played by Sean Astin, was a gardener. Who was he?

Answer: Samwise Gamgee

It was said that Samwise Gamgee was born in 2980, though it is also said he was born in the 1400s (Middle Earth years, of course, not Earth years). Samwise was the gardener of Frodo Baggins, and became the protagonists sidekick.
5. June 6, 1944: This character has done nearly everything, including meeting the President, become a world-record ping-pong player, and getting shot in the buttocks. It's only fitting that he was born on such an important day in history. Who is this?

Answer: Forrest Gump

Tom Hanks played the loveable character of Forrest Gump in the 1994 movie, "Forrest Gump". The movie was based on a book written by Winston Groom in 1986. Forrest Gump was born near the small town of Greenbow, Alabama (near, not in).

"Mama always told me life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get."
6. June 20: In 1901 a child was born. However, in the 21st century, he is a 17-year-old boy. How can this be? Which character of the "Twilight" saga was turned into a vampire to save his life?

Answer: Edward Cullen

Edward Cullen was born in 1901, but his father turned him into a vampire in 1918 to save him from the Spanish Influenza. As a vampire, Edward Cullen maintains the body of a 17-year-old, even though he's really been alive for much longer (vampires are immortal, after all). Edward Cullen was played by Robert Pattinson in the "Twilight" saga films.
7. July 1: In 1899, a very special archaeologist was born. Who was he?

Answer: Indiana Jones

Indiana Jones is a character portrayed by Harrison Ford in the "Indiana Jones" movie series. He is also portrayed by River Phoenix as "Young Indy" in the third movie, "The Last Crusade". Indiana Jones' birth date is in 1899, though his death year is unknown. His father, Henry Jones, is played by Sean Connery in "The Last Crusade".
8. July 14: In 1999, a yellow character made his first appearance on television. He was an adult, but his license said that his birthday was July 14, 1986! Who is this golden guy?

Answer: Spongebob Squarepants

"Spongebob Squarepants" first aired on Nickelodeon on May 1, 1999. In the show, Spongebob is known as being an adult who has failed his driver's test thousands of times. However, in one episode, he is given a license (his teacher is fed up with him) and his birth date reads 1986.

This would mean that he was only 13 years old in the first episode of the show. Perhaps, at the bottom of the ocean, 13 years is a longer time than it is above land.
9. July 31: This world-famous character was born on July 31, which happens to be the same birthday as his creator. Which character, who dons glasses, has this birth date?

Answer: Harry Potter

Harry Potter was a character created by JK Rowling. He appears in seven books (the "Harry Potter" series) as well as eight movies (again, the "Harry Potter" series). He was given the birthday of July 31, as it was the birthday of JK Rowling, Daniel Radcliffe, and Richard Griffiths. It was learned later, however, that Radcliffe's birthday was actually the 23rd, and it was just a publicity stunt to say it was the 31st. There is contradiction as to what year Harry was born in, however.

McGruff said it best when he answered the question "When is Harry Potter's birthday?" in this link.

10. 200 BBY: On this date in the Star Wars Universe, a certain character was born on Kashyyyk. He lived to be 204 years old. Who was he?

Answer: Chewbacca

Chewbacca was born in 200 BBY. BBY stands for "Before the Battle of Yavin", which is used in the Star Wars Universe in a similar way that we use BC and AD. Therefore, Chewbacca was born in 200 BBY, and 200 years later, it was year 0, which was the Battle of Yavin. He lived for 4 years after this, and died in 4 ABY (After the Battle of Yavin). Darth Sidious (Palpatine) was born in 82 BBY and died in 4 ABY (though his clones later died in 10 ABY and 11 ABY). Han Solo was born in 29 BBY (though it is unknown what his death date was). Yoda lived to 900 years old, as he was born in 896 BBY and died in 4 ABY.

A day in the "Star Wars" Universe lasts a standard 24 hours, but each year lasts 368 days.

As an interesting side note: "Star Wars III" kills off a large amount of Jedi in 19 BBY. Obi-Wan Kenobi survived the Jedi attack in this year, and died in year 0. However, he was only 57 at the time (though in the movies he appeared much older).
