Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Ensign Ro corrects Picard on how, given her Bajoran heritage, she should be properly addressed.

Answer: Ensign Ro

Things get off on the wrong foot as soon as the troubled Ensign Ro transports onboard the ship...and keep going wrong when she comes to the Ready Room to speak with Picard and Riker regarding her knowledge of the Bajora. When Picard wrongly addresses her as 'Ensign Laren', Ro boldly interrupts him in mid-sentence and corrects him by saying, "Ensign Ro, sir".

A startled and perhaps somewhat-offended Picard then is begging her pardon, to which Ro responds with the explanation that the Bajoran family name comes first while the individual family member's name comes last.

Therefore, as she goes on to tell him, she's properly addressed as Ensign Ro. Even after that awkward moment, the troubled Bajoran is still fuming with anger, wanting to get the mission over with as soon as possible and confessing that she doesn't want to be onboard the Enterprise anymore than Picard and Riker want her to be.
2. This was the FIRST episode where Chief O'Brien is seen onboard the drive section of the Enterprise after it has separated from the saucer section.

Answer: Encounter At Farpoint

In fact, the series pilot was the ONLY episode where O'Brien was seen in the Enterprise's drive section after separation! When the crew first encounters the mysterious Q, O'Brien is manning the conn station. Then once Picard gives the order to separate the ship, fearing that the Q is a powerful force that needs to be reckoned with, a handful of experienced officers are left onboard the saucer section while Picard takes some of the senior officers with him to board the battle bridge of the drive section. O'Brien again is stationed at the conn, which is where he remains when Picard, Data, Troi and Yar are suddenly whisked off into the Q Continuum in a flash of white light.
3. Alexander takes part in a holodeck program where he sees a floating orb with a man's head inside making funny faces.

Answer: Cost Of Living

When the outrageous Lwaxana Troi takes Alexander under her wings, she recreates a fantastically colorful paradise from her native Betazed that includes a wide array of bizarre characters. Among the first 'characters' Alexander meets is the head of a man inside of a floating ball, the man making funny faces that incites some laughter out of Worf's son. We would see this 'Floating Head Man' character later on in the episode when Worf and Counselor Troi come to check in on their son and mother, respectively--the former upset that his son is taking part in such a foolish adventure while the latter believes Lwaxana is doing nothing but spoiling Alexander and is otherwise not helping in addressing the real problems at hand.
4. Lieutenant Barclay's voice replaces the normal voice of the Enterprise's computer in this episode.

Answer: The Nth Degree

When the eccentric engineer has evolved into his super-intelligent state, he goes to the holodeck and tells the computer to construct an apparatus that will allow him to directly interface with the ship. The very next time Picard tries to inquire to the computer from the bridge, he hears Barclay's voice instead of the familiar female computer voice (courtesy of then-Majel Barrett) that everyone is accustomed to hearing.

The bridge crew thinks there might be a glitch in the com channels, so when the computer is asked for a second time, Barclay's voice again responds over the com, Barclay further explaining that he is indeed now the ship's computer! A humorous moment (and an annoying one, at least for Picard and company) in this episode for sure, which saw actor Dwight Schultz put on an all-around impressive performance.
5. Lwaxana Troi is being transported onto the Enterprise, but when she materializes on the Transporter Room pad, she is standing facing the wrong direction with her back to those who are prepared to greet her.

Answer: Manhunt

This did not happen as a result of some computer glitch; rather, the outrageous Betazoid telepath simply materialized on the transporter pad with her back to Picard, Riker and her own daughter, opposite the direction in which people normally would face. Presumably, this happened since Lwaxana admitted her dislike for transporters; as she seldom used them, she was unfamiliar with the 'proper way to travel', so to speak.
6. Guinan is attending a luxurious ballroom event with a famous literary author in this episode.

Answer: Time's Arrow, Part 1

Towards the end of Season 5's cliffhanger, Data is searching for Guinan in 19th-century San Francisco. After seeing her picture in a newspaper article, he tracks her down at a fancy ballroom where there is an event taking place celebrating a gathering of well-known writers. Guinan is appropriately dressed for the prestigious occasion, wearing an elaborate, ornamental dress dated to that time period. Among her present company is the famous Samuel L. Clemens (well, at least an actor's representation of him), who is portrayed as a cunning opportunist who eventually tracks her and Data down at their hotel room in the episode's second-part conclusion.
7. Nurse Ogawa, while in sickbay, happily clues in two crewmembers that she's pregnant in this episode.

Answer: Genesis

In the opening teaser, there are various crewmembers in sickbay getting treated by Dr. Crusher and her medical staff for various ailments. While Beverly is tending to Barclay's T-cell issue and Riker's mishap from the arboretum, Nurse Ogawa is assisting Data with Spot's pre-natal checkup.

When Data comments that he doesn't want to know the sex of Spot's kittens, Alyssa responds that she doesn't want to know either, making a motion near her stomach. Ogawa then informs a shocked but delighted Data and Dr. Crusher that Spot isn't the only one expecting. Unfortunately for us viewers, however, we would never get to see the father of her unborn child (and the man that Ogawa had been in a relationship with, the often-mentioned Andrew) nor witness her actual childbirth during the remainder of the series.
8. Wesley, with his hands, demonstrates a piloting maneuver before a panel of superior Starfleet officers in this episode.

Answer: The First Duty

Wesley and his fellow squadron of cadets are on trial before a panel of Starfleet Academy admirals, following the death of one of their teammates during a flight maneuver. During his video presentation, Wesley mentions that he and his team were performing a Yeager Loop; when he is questioned by the Vulcan admiral to describe that loop, he uses his hands to show how the ships first fly upward at a sharp accent and conclude with each ship moving into a diamond-slot formation. Unfortunately for Wesley, the Vulcan admiral catches Dr. Crusher's son in a lie, as an enhanced computer image taken near Saturn shows that the shuttles were actually not in a diamond-slot formation. We eventually learn, after some investigative work on Picard's part, that Nick Locarno and company were attempting a Kolvoord Starburst, an impressive maneuver that had been banned due to it being extremely dangerous and difficult to pull off.
9. Yar is walking down a corridor when she lays eyes on a young male science officer in Engineering, the two then laying lips on each other without either of them saying a single word.

Answer: The Naked Now

Shortly after Yar is suspected of being the next crewmember to fall 'under the influence' of the intoxicating epidemic sweeping the ship, we see her merrily walking down a corridor, whirling around and checking out every man she passes. When she arrives in Engineering, her eyes fixate on an unnamed male crewman in a blue Starfleet uniform.

Then, without even saying a word, their sexy stares quickly turn into a lustful lip-lock.
10. Q is wearing something OTHER THAN a Starfleet captain's uniform in all of the following episodes...except this one.

Answer: Q Who

A rather tricky one to end this quiz! Q was always known for wearing the familiar red Starfleet uniform with the four pips, which presumably made him feel like 'one of the crew' and, perhaps, served as another one of his colorful ways of always toying with Picard. "Encounter At Farpoint" was the first episode where we see Q wearing his trademark black-and-red royal attire while seated on his throne in the Q Continuum courtroom; we would see Q wearing it again in "All Good Things..." when the Enterprise's captain is visited by the omnipotent being one last time.

The Sherwood Forest/Middle Ages adventure that is "Qpid" definitely had its share of colorful costumes of that fictional storybook era, but among the costumes Q wore that is not related to Robin Hood is the khaki safari outfit he's wearing when he and Vash both appear in Picard's quarters at the end of the episode. Q is further wearing a variety of outfits and costumes in "Tapestry", most notably the white robe he wears in the opening teaser when Picard first awakens in the 'afterlife'. So that leaves "Q Who" to be considered. Surprisingly, there were no extravagant costumes nor outfits being worn by the omnipotent alien during the crew's debut encounter with the Borg; he wears that familiar Starfleet captain uniform throughout the episode's entire duration.
